Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 329: GREYSON’S RAGE
River was surprised to see Greyson was here, even though she expected him to hear about her sooner or later.
However, she didn’t like the way he took Ashlyn away from her arms forcefully.
"I said, get out!" Greyson raised his voice, and this startled Ashlyn; she wriggled in Greyson’s arms and tried to free herself. Ashlyn pushed Greyson’s face and then stretched out her arms toward River. "Why are you still standing there?! I said, Get out."
River glared at him viciously. "You, get out." Her voice sounded icy, which startled Greyson. He looked at River, astounded, before anger took over. "Give her back to me."
River was worried that she might hurt Ashlyn if she snatched her away from Greyson. However, it was difficult not to do so when she saw how desperately Ashlyn wanted to be with her.
Fat tears streamed down Ashlyn’s cheeks because she was upset. She clawed Greyson’s face, but unfortunately, River just cut her nails this morning after what happened to Bryer yesterday.
"How dare you! I know who you are! You are a woman with a questionable background!" He scoffed. "What? Your family has fallen, and so has your ex-fiancé’s; now you want to cling to another powerful family?"
River folded her arms. It was not a surprise that Greyson had run a background check on her, but with his connection, Greyson wouldn’t find the real deal behind the Lozen family’s business. She was sure, especially given the way he talked to her.
"Tell me, how much money do you want? But get the fuck out of here." Greyson moved his face from Ashlyn’s small hands.
"So, do you think I want money?" River raised her brows.
"What else do you want? Your family and the Barlowe family were killed for reasons that remain unknown; we never know what kind of danger that you might bring to this family."
River was speechless; this was the same problem that she faced when she was Hazel, but at that time, it came from Ares. It felt like a déjà vu.
"Someone with a questionable background like you can’t be around my granddaughter or this family. Get out now." Greyson looked like he was going to drag River away by himself.
"You hurt her, put her down," River said calmly, ignoring what Greyson said. "Let’s talk."
"There is nothing to talk about. Tell me how much you want, but you have to leave right away." Greyson pressed Ashlyn’s face against his chest to stop her from fighting him, but it only made River angrier.
"I said put her down; you hurt her."
"Don’t you dare tell me what to do..."
But before Greyson could finish his sentence, River had yanked Ashlyn away from his arms. She moved very fast, and at the same time, she pushed Greyson away, elbowing his solar plexus.
The move managed to make Greyson stagger back; as he bent his body forward, the sharp pain made him gasp.
"You!" He roared angrily; out of instinct, he raised his hand to slap River, but he stopped himself when he saw Ashlyn was holding onto her tightly. His granddaughter was too close with this woman; if he hit her, he was afraid he would hurt Ashlyn as well.
This witch had his granddaughter wrapped around her fingers. How could she do that?
"Do you want to hit me like you hit your children? That will not do, Greyson."
"You know nothing about me and my children!" Greyson thought this woman talked out of her ass, talking about something that she didn’t understand.
"Do I?" River squinted her eyes. "Do you want to forget about the way you abused Hazel? How you hate her because you thought she was the reason for your wife’s death? Do you want to forget the fact that she hated you back for all the things that you put her through, and by some miracle you show remorse for everything that you have done and want an instant way to gain your late daughter’s forgiveness?"
Greyson went quiet. He was in disbelief. From the report that he received, he was sure Hazel didn’t have any contact with this woman. They didn’t know each other, but from the way she spoke, it was as if they were very close.
"You care for Ashlyn because you want to repent for the mistake you made with your late daughter. You see Ashlyn as a way for you to ease your guilty feeling."
"Shut up! You are talking nonsense!"
"Am I?" River caressed Ashlyn’s back in a soothing motion, but her words were sharp when she spoke again. "Greyson, you really need to control your anger and your ego. Your impulsiveness has not yet changed."
River didn’t doubt Greyson’s love for Ashlyn, but a big part of that feeling was his guilt for Hazel. He was being haunted because he didn’t get the forgiveness from his daughter.
"You don’t even know me." Greyson was holding back his rage; he glanced at Ashlyn. He planned to snatch her back from River.
"Leave, before I ask someone to get you out of here."
"Where is Ranon? How could he let a stranger enter his house and be with his daughter? He is very irresponsible!"
Currently, River was only alone with Ashlyn because Renna went out for a while; there was something she wanted to buy, while Ranon was busy at his office.
He had been busy because apparently Rafael acted up. He did something that River was not clear about, but it was enough to make Ranon spend more time with his business than be with her and their daughter.
"It’s funny how you call Ranon irresponsible when you have done worse than this." River then reached for her phone and called Cam to come. "I want him removed from here."
"Do you think he will do it?" Greyson scoffed.
However, two minutes later Cam came with two other guards.
"Take him away, and don’t grant him access to come without permission," River said sternly. Ashlyn had stopped crying, and she peeked from behind River’s hair. She didn’t cut her hair short like before and chose to have long hair because Ranon liked it; she also grew to like long hair as well.
"But Ms. Lozen, I can’t do it without permission from Mr. Leighton. If you don’t know him, he is..."
"I know him; he is Hazel’s father." River cut him off and then called Ranon. He picked it up on the second ring. "Do I bother you?"
"No, what is it? Do you need something?" River then told Ranon that Greyson was there, and she wanted him to be removed from there. "Give the phone to Cam."
River handed the phone to Cam, who spoke in a low voice with Ranon. But before Cam finished talking, Greyson snatched the phone from his hand.
"Ranon! Are you out of your mind?!" Greyson roared into the phone, but he glared at River, and whatever Ranon was saying, it only enraged him even more. "You are crazy!"
Greyson always had an anger issue. Even though in the last moment of Hazel’s life he showed some improvement, now he got even worse after her death and the matter with Logan.
Greyson smashed the phone on the floor, and out of instinct, River turned her body to protect Ashlyn in her arms, even when Greyson didn’t direct the phone at her.
"Take him away! Now!" River commanded Cam and the other two men as she went into Ashlyn’s bedroom. Her daughter shouldn’t have witnessed that, and River was furious.
River closed the door, but she still could hear Greyson refusing to leave, yet gradually, his voice faded away.
"It’s okay, baby." River cradled Ashlyn in her arms. She kissed her cheeks; Ashlyn was upset, understandably so.
River held her until she fell asleep; she felt sleepy too.
She was woken up when she felt someone touch her leg; instinctively, she raised her leg to kick this person, but he was faster, as he held it down. She immediately moved; her mind went into a defensive mode, but Ranon’s soothing voice calmed her down in an instant.
"Don’t move," he said, as he smeared something on her skin.
"Aw! What is that?" River felt the sting, and when she glanced over her shoulder, she saw there was a scratch wound on her left leg. It must be from when Greyson smashed her phone. The sharp shard had grazed her skin.
"You don’t even know you are hurt," Ranon said unhappily as he put a plaster on her wound.
"It’s only a scratch. I didn’t even feel it until you poked it." River looked at Ashlyn, who was sleeping next to her. "About Greyson."
"I will handle this. You don’t need to worry."
River pried Ashlyn’s hand away from her front shirt and then sat down. "I still want him to see Ashlyn," she stated, and this surprised Ranon because he thought River would want that man to stay away from them.
River was sure Ranon could ensure that, but it would only aggravate Greyson even more, and she wanted a peaceful life.
"He is still Ashlyn’s grandfather. I will handle him," River said and then cupped Ranon’s face between her palms. "Now, tell me what trouble Rafael caused you."
Ranon kissed both of her palms. "It was nothing harmful, just something that caused a headache."
"That still makes me unhappy." River frowned. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Ranon chuckled. "Come here, I know what will make you happy."
Ashlyn had been sleeping with them lately, so Ranon needed some alone time with her.
