Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 136: SHOOT THEM
Chapter 136: SHOOT THEM
Earlier, Eilon took Hazel to his bedroom to show his drawing.
Therefore, to see one of the assassins enter Eilon’s bedroom, her concern for the little boy overrode her better judgment.
Ignoring Ranon’s warning, Hazel followed the intruder and watched in horror as he prepared to harm Eilon.
It was not usual for the assassin to attack a child if it was not necessary, but then not many people in their community followed that conduct.
Still, it was weird.
Without hesitation, Hazel aimed and shot the assassin in the leg, not intending to kill, just to disable him when the assassin put on the muffler and was about to put the sleeping Eilon at gunpoint.
Hazel used a muffler too, but the guttural groan from the man stirred Eilon from his sleep, and he began to cry upon seeing a masked man inside his bedroom, piercing the night with his frightened wails.
"Arrghh!" Eilon screamed. "Go away! No! Mommy!"
Hazel’s heart raced; she darted ahead and kicked the man to put the distance between him and Eilon. The man stumbled, and his gun skidded across the room. When Hazel reached the little boy, she hugged him protectively.
Murderous intent in her eyes when she watched that man trying to stand up, she shot his hand when he tried to reach for his gun again.
Eilon was still crying, and this sound woke several people, attracting attention, and chaos began to unfold.
Ema rushed to Eilon’s bedroom since her bedroom with Denzel was on the same floor. But the intruder was still conscious and swiftly seized Ema; using her as a shield, he pressed a dagger against her neck.
"No, please! Help!" Ema cried out; her distress was palpable, and everything spiraled into a blur of confusion.
Hazel didn’t have much time to weigh her pros and cons; the man had every intention to kill Ema; he wouldn’t hold back; she could see it in his eyes.
She was not sure who the target was, but from the look of it, they were ordered to kill as many members of the Leighton family as possible.
Having not much time and no other choice, Hazel pressed Eilon’s face against her chest to block the horrendous sight that would ensue as she aimed at the man who held Ema captive.
Time seemed to stretch as she fired. Her aim was precise, and in that instant, the bullet pierced through the man’s skull, and he fell to the ground.
Blood spurted from the wound, spraying on Ema’s face, which made her let out a banshee screech at the top of her lungs.
Ema wiped her face and saw the blood; her legs buckled, and she fell to the floor, screaming in panic and fear. She was distressed.
It didn’t take long for Ranon to reach the bedroom and see what happened; he scanned the room briefly and saw Hazel.
On the other hand, Ema saw Ranon and immediately rushed towards him, instinctively seeking safety. She was traumatized; she could hear the sound of the bullet whistling in her ears. The blood was still sticky and warm on her face and hands.
However, Ranon was taking a step aside, avoiding her and going straight to Hazel, checking her, trying to find any wounds or injuries. He looked enraged, and Hazel was more scared of him than that assassin. The intensity of his glare made her heart race.
"I told you to stay inside your bedroom, no?" His voice was stern; the worry beneath it was unmistakable.
"My bad," Hazel replied sheepishly. She then explained why she went out of the bedroom. "Something bad might happen to your brother."
Yet, Ranon was not amused; his expression darkened at the thought of Hazel having put her life in danger.
Suddenly, Ema burst out, her emotions spilling over in a hysteria. "You were going to kill me!" The accusation was very thick. "You aimed your gun at me! You are going to shoot me! You are going to kill me!"
Hazel frowned; she was still hugging Eilon, who was still crying, while his mother was accusing her of murder.
"What if you missed?!" Ema cried, her voice trembling. "You could have killed me!"
"Well, I didn’t," Hazel said coolly, trying to brush off the accusation. "I think she is in so much shock," she whispered to Ranon.
Before the tension could spiral, Denzel wheeled into the room, cutting through the chaos. "Ema, you need to check on Eilon. Get him now," he said firmly.
"Go with your mommy," Hazel said as she pulled away from the boy gently.
"The bad guy..." he said, his voice small and trembling.
Ranon took a blanket and covered the dead body, but one look from him was enough to make Ema stop her attempt to hug him. More so, Denzel was already there.
Eilon, who was still crying, nodded and then rushed towards his mother.
With the immediate threat neutralized, it left them with a lot of things to investigate.
Hours passed, and as the sun appeared at the horizon, Laurel returned home. She was immediately confronted by the mess that had unfolded.
It was three hours after they had dealt with the intruders.
"What happened here?" She was already in a distressful situation; therefore, to learn about the attack was the least thing she expected. One of the maids filled her in with what actually happened last night.
Certain CCTV cameras that captured areas where the attackers breached their house had been powered down. Someone had planned everything.
In total, there were seven assassins; one was killed by Hazel, three by Ranon, and another by the guards. However, two had managed to escape.
Hazel felt a wave of shock wash over her upon learning that Ranon had taken down three attackers by himself in such a short time.
While she had always known Ranon knew how to fight, witnessing the result of it still left her speechless. How lethal could this man be? The way he handled the situation was very efficient too.
Soon after, the police were now on the scene, and the incident quickly caught the media’s eye, who framed the story as a robbery gone wrong, and the guards inside the Leighton residence managed to take them down.

Arthur couldn’t believe the information that he just received. Someone had used his name and his organization to orchestrate an attack on the Lozen family, all while he was out of the game.
He had declined the hit for the Leightons since his last failed attempt because of Jack’s advice. The last strike he had launched against the Leightons had been months prior.
In a rush of disbelief, he called Jack to verify the details.
"There is no way they moved on the Leightons without my order!" Arthur exclaimed, fury overtaking him. "Someone inside must have manipulated them into thinking that was my order!"
His men wouldn’t move on their own without a clear order from the head of the family.
"I don’t know who did it, but I will look into it," Jack replied, trying to pacify Arthur, who was beside him with anger.
But even Jack’s reassurances did little to quell Arthur’s rage. He found himself at a point where trusting anyone was nearly impossible.
During this time, he really wished River were here, because he knew he could trust his daughter, and River would have a solution for this.
The thought of it sent a mix of feelings for him, and he resented Aubrey even more for her dumb action.
It took a long time for Arthur to think about what he should do next and who he could trust, and by the end of the day, he summoned Lyle to his office.
It didn’t take long for Lyle to arrive. The young man appeared very composed, but there was a simmering anger in his eyes, likely the result of a recent argument with his sister. He had been in a foul mood for the past week after his last visit to Olivia’s apartment.
"I want you to investigate this," Arthur said, leaning forward in his chair. "But keep it under wraps. Not even the people from the Barlowes can know." He emphasized his words clearly.
Lyle seemed slightly taken aback by the order but nodded in agreement. As far as he knew, the Lozens and the Barlowes had been on the same standing for decades. It must be something big for Arthur Lozen not to share something with Jack Barlowe.
Arthur’s suspicion about the Barlowes was justified; he had felt something was amiss with Jack. Still, he chose to dismiss it, attributing the oddities to family matters.

"Why are you doing this?!"
"What does this mean!?"
The two men who had managed to escape a failed assassination attempt at the Leightons’ residence were now confronting an unsettling reality. Upon arriving at their meeting point, they sensed danger and recognized they had been fooled by Jack Barlowe.
The moment of realization hit hard; Arthur’s orders had been fabricated, and now there was no way out for them. They fell straight to Jack Barlowe’s trap.
"You are trying to betray Mr. Lozen," one man hissed angrily. He spoke quietly, but you could feel the killing intent in his eyes.
"Mr. Lozen will hear about this, you son of a bitch!" The other man spat defiantly, knowing they would die.
There were six people that surrounded them and put them at gunpoint.
In stark contrast to their rage, Jack remained eerily calm, locking eyes with them without an ounce of shame. When he finally spoke, his tone was chillingly cold.
"Shoot them."
