Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone-Chapter 566 - 397: The Day I Rise as Bronze, I Will Ascend the Throne!
The radiance of the Light Blade shot out in all directions, each strike seemingly tearing the air apart with astounding momentum. However, the Skeleton Centurion’s combat power was clearly much stronger than the Skeleton Commanders Fang Zhou had encountered before.
In the blink of an eye, the Skeleton Centurion managed to raise the Skeleton Greatblade in its hand, blocking Fang Zhou’s incoming Corpse Long Spear. The Skeleton Greatblade traced a pale arc in the air, attempting to fend off this deadly blow.
Despite Fang Zhou’s long-prepared Deadly Strike, the Skeleton Centurion didn’t perish on the spot. With a crisp CRACK, its Skeleton Greatblade instantly disintegrated, turning into a cloud of bone dust. Accompanied by a dense and piercing shriek, the dust flew through the air as several huge gashes appeared on the Skeleton Centurion’s body. The deepest one sliced through two of its ribs, nearly severing its spine.
"ROAR!"
The Skeleton Centurion let out another deafening roar. Severely wounded, it turned around. Although it had lost its signature weapon, it still swung its bony claws with unmatched brute strength, slashing toward Fang Zhou!
"BOOM!"
A fierce clash resounded. A massive force surged from Fang Zhou’s Corpse Long Spear, forcing the Skeleton Centurion to take several involuntary steps back and leave a series of deep footprints in the ground.
Although the Skeleton Centurion’s strength was far inferior to Fang Zhou’s, he was, after all, fighting alone. After the Skeleton Centurion barely blocked Fang Zhou’s surprise attack, the nearly ten Mutated Skeleton Warriors he had left behind reacted, quickly swarming him. These Mutated Skeleton Warriors were much larger than ordinary Skeletons, and each of their steps was as heavy as a mountain as they charged ferociously toward Fang Zhou.
As the Mutated Skeleton Warriors closed in, Fang Zhou swung his Corpse Long Spear with full force!
"CRASH!"
Three of the warriors at the forefront were instantly torn to pieces, their bones scattering like leaves in a storm. Two others were sent flying by the tremendous force, tracing arcs through the air like kites with their strings cut before crashing heavily to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.
Facing the Skeleton Centurion once more, Fang Zhou didn’t hesitate for a moment, unleashing a second Deadly Strike without delay. A ghostly blue Light Blade burst forth like ice erupting from the Abyss. Under Fang Zhou’s deliberate control, the Light Blade targeted the exact spot where the Skeleton Centurion had been previously injured. The blade’s light formed an unbroken line, a streak of ghostly blue lightning carrying a bone-chilling cold and unmatched sharpness as it slashed fiercely into the Skeleton Centurion.
When the power of the attack dissipated, the Skeleton Centurion’s body had been severed at the waist. Its lower half remained rigidly standing, but its upper half lost all support and slowly toppled toward the ground like a collapsing statue.
The Skeleton Centurion was not dead yet. With its upper body still intact, it even retained some combat capability.
However, having already cut it in half, how could Fang Zhou allow this Skeleton Centurion to recall its lower body and recover its ability to fight? Just as its upper half was falling, Fang Zhou strode forward, swiftly rushing in front of it. The moment its torso hit the ground, the Corpse Long Spear in his hand was already gleaming with a cold light as it shot through the air, piercing straight through the creature’s eye socket and sinking deep into its skull.
The Soul Fire flickered once in the Skeleton Centurion’s skull, then dimly extinguished. Fang Zhou’s knuckles, wrapped tightly around the Corpse Long Spear, finally relaxed, and he let out a long sigh of relief.
The war between the two Skeleton legions was still ongoing, but in Fang Zhou’s eyes, it was over. Without the Skeleton Centurion, these legions were nothing more than scattered sand, no matter their numbers. Their fate was either to be slaughtered or to be enslaved by Fang Zhou as his subordinates.
This war had not lasted long, but it was nonetheless fraught with danger. To say nothing of the Skeleton Centurion’s own combat prowess, the Skeleton Archers it commanded were alone enough to pose a deadly threat to Fang Zhou. Their long-range attacks were as dense as raindrops and nearly impossible to evade; the slightest carelessness would have meant being hit.
Fortunately, he had won. By killing the Skeleton Centurion, the entire skeletal legion became his spoils of war.
Next, Fang Zhou did not rush to absorb the Skeleton Centurion’s bones. Instead, he returned to the battlefield to either slay or subdue the remaining Elite Skeletons in the legion, incorporating them into his forces.
Regrettably, the few Mutated Skeleton Warriors that had submitted under the Skeleton Soldier Talisman faced the same problem as ordinary Skeleton Warriors: they could not offer their loyalty and Soul Fire under Fang Zhou’s Skeleton Monarch skill. Thus, Fang Zhou could only grit his teeth and mercilessly slaughter, harvest, and devour them for his own advancement.
However, this brought an unexpected delight. Perhaps it was because he had killed and devoured so many high-ranking Skeletons during this period—Chiliarchs and Centurions of all commands. Although the attribute panel showed no obvious changes, he felt his racial essence had become more complete. This brought him a step closer to the limits of his race. A sudden realization dawned on him.
