Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone-Chapter 447 - 329: Linear Spell Lob, Talent of a Saint!
Fang Zhou couldn’t help but feel a tinge of surprise. He’d thought the blow would be fatal, but he hadn’t expected Mo Zishu to still have some fight left in him.
However, Fang Zhou quickly reconsidered. As the top seed of the Celestial City Military Academy, Mo Zishu was undoubtedly carrying numerous secret treasures for self-preservation. It was only logical that he could withstand such a powerful strike without dying.
From behind the massive statue, Mo Zishu’s voice rang out again, tinged with anger and resentment. "You all saw that! This guy doesn’t respect us at all! He’s so brazen!"
This time, however, most of the students chose to remain silent. They weren’t as easily swayed by Mo Zishu’s words as before. Clearly, after the harrowing scene moments ago, their reason was gradually returning. Only a few contestants from the Celestial City Military Academy, who were clearly Mo Zishu’s supporters, wore ashen expressions, their eyes full of defiance.
"I will kill you today," Fang Zhou’s voice was ice-cold. He had grown extremely impatient with Mo Zishu’s taunts.
The only reason Mo Zishu was so persistent was to protect his and the Celestial City Military Academy’s rankings. This was understandable. But to Fang Zhou, one man’s hero is another’s mortal enemy. From the start, he knew there was an irreconcilable conflict between his own group from Sea City Military Academy and the faction Mo Zishu represented. Everything Fang Zhou had done was for himself and Sea City Military Academy. With their opposing goals, they were merely obstacles on each other’s paths that had to be eliminated.
"Boss Fang Zhou, let’s just leave it at that. We can part on good terms. We won’t make a move if you don’t," a student attempted to mediate, hoping to defuse the imminent conflict.
"Yeah, Mo Zishu was our temporary commander just a moment ago. Don’t put us in a tough spot."
"Right, right, let’s all calm down and take a step back."
"If you’re not convinced, just fight it out in the duel arena to see who’s better."
"Exactly! It’s worth dying to get first place, but let’s not cause a scene right now."
The students present had mixed feelings, caught in a difficult position as if they had a tiger by the tail. Many noticed the Skeletons adjusting the direction of the Magic-guided Crystal Cannon, which made them even more anxious. Although killing Fang Zhou seemed easy, if he fired another shot, it was unlikely anyone could withstand it. By then, they might become sacrifices to the Magic-guided Crystal Cannon, and the gain wouldn’t be worth the loss.
"Do you think I can’t touch you just because you’re hiding behind the statue? You’re too naive." As Fang Zhou spoke, he took out the Undead Magic Ball and began rapidly chanting, preparing to cast a spell. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Then come and try," Mo Zishu mocked in response, but he was keenly aware that he was heavily injured and didn’t dare show his face. If he were hit by another of Fang Zhou’s Skeleton Flying Spears, he would likely die on the spot.
"As you wish." Fang Zhou’s voice was low as he quickly simulated the spear’s trajectory in his mind. Then, his eyes snapped open, and he shot the long-prepared Skeleton Flying Spear toward the sky. The attack streaked across the sky like a meteor before vanishing from sight.
Putting away the Undead Magic Ball, Fang Zhou spoke to Bai Xiaochan, Meng Hongzhuang, and the others without turning his head. "Let’s go."
He then led the team onward, heading straight for the fissure ahead.
The Skeleton Flying Spear that had soared into the sky quickly disappeared from view. The onlooking contestants stared blankly, their hearts full of doubt as they tried to understand Fang Zhou’s action of casting a spell at the sky.
A student from the Celestial City Military Academy laughed loudly and taunted, "Hey, shooting at the sky? Is that just helpless rage? Trying to ascend to the heavens or something?"
His remark drew a burst of laughter, and the atmosphere seemed to lighten slightly.
Meng Hongzhuang and the others were also full of questions, but seeing that Fang Zhou offered no explanation, they didn’t press the matter in front of everyone.
Just then, a blood-curdling scream shattered the brief tranquility, followed by several gasps of shock and disbelief. All the students present whipped their heads around in confusion, trying to figure out what had just happened.
"Mo Zishu is dead."
"Mo Zishu was hit in the crown of his head by the Skeleton Flying Spear! He’s dead!"
Hearing the shouts from the students near the statue, the other students could hardly believe their ears. Mo Zishu was clearly hiding behind the statue. How could he have been killed just like that?
However, when they recalled Fang Zhou’s earlier shot of the Skeleton Flying Spear into the sky, a horrifying realization dawned on them, yet they struggled to believe the truth.
"I said I would kill him today, and I keep my word."
Fang Zhou’s words instantly confirmed the speculations of the students who couldn’t see the situation, sending a chill down their spines. It was terrifying. He could kill Mo Zishu even like this? Was this man even human?!
「Outside the arena.」
The spectating students were bewildered. Although some had a general idea of what had happened, they hadn’t seen it firsthand. They all began to pull up the replay, trying to understand what had transpired.
As the footage replayed, it showed Fang Zhou launching a Skeleton Flying Spear into the sky. This time, the camera followed the spear upward, with its trajectory specially highlighted to ensure every detail was crystal clear. The screens showed that after reaching its apex high in the sky, the spear began to fall.
The camera angle quickly switched to the area behind the statue, clearly showing Mo Zishu hiding there. He was healing himself with a smirk on his face, obviously not believing Fang Zhou could pose any threat. However, just as he was completely defenseless, the Skeleton Flying Spear descended from the heavens and plunged into the top of his head.
The smirk on Mo Zishu’s face froze instantly. His eyes filled with confusion and bitterness. It seemed that even in his final moment, he didn’t understand how he had died.
"Linear Spell Projection... That’s supposed to be purely theoretical, but it actually exists," Liu Diewu murmured to herself, clearly stunned by the scene.
The moment she finished speaking, a commotion erupted around her. The crowd burst into discussion, praising this innovative tactic.
"Mechanical projection is common enough; it was used frequently in ancient warfare. But for a linear spell like the Skeleton Flying Spear to be projected with such precision... that’s simply monstrous," Gu Yueyuan sighed as he watched the scene being replayed over and over, still seemingly unable to believe his eyes.
At this point, however, no further explanation was needed. All the watching students could appreciate the difficulty and brilliance of this maneuver.
In the viewing areas of the various military academies, the sound of Fang Zhou’s name, shouted by the observing students, seemed to soar to the heavens.
Fang Zhou had simply delivered one shock after another
