Ultimate Magus in Cultivation World-Chapter 247: Train VII
Before long, the first hints of dawn touched the treetops, painting the forest in soft light. The team stirred awake, stretching and rubbing their eyes. Sleep had been brief but enough to ease some of the fatigue from the previous day.
Han Yi shook off the last of his drowsiness.
"...Feels good to rest. Ready to keep moving."
Mu Chen scanned the area quickly, staff in hand.
"...No immediate danger. We pack up and move before the forest wakes fully. Step by step."
Yue adjusted her pack, checking straps and gear.
"...The path looks clear. Let’s stay close and keep moving together."
Lei Feng picked up his stick, scanning the ground ahead.
"...The valley behind us is safe now. Our next stretch may be harder, but we’ll handle it. Together."
Ling gathered the team, signaling them to form a line.
"Check your gear one last time. Drink some water. We move as one. Step by step, together."
The group packed up their belongings quickly but carefully. Each item was secured, and weapons were checked. Once ready, Ling led them out of the small clearing and into the forest, alert to every sound and movement.
The trees were taller and closer here, but the path was clear enough to walk steadily. Birds began their morning calls, and the soft light made it easier to see obstacles. The team maintained their spacing, moving in rhythm, alert but calm.
Han Yi whispered quietly as they moved.
"...Feels easier in the morning light. We can do this."
Mu Chen nodded, eyes still scanning.
"...Light helps, but we stay cautious. One step at a time."
Yue kept pace beside Ling.
"...We’ve come this far. No reason to stop now."
Lei Feng led slightly ahead, pointing out uneven ground and loose rocks.
"...Watch your footing. Step by step, together."
The forest stretched ahead, winding paths between the trees leading toward the next ridge. The team moved steadily, each step deliberate, each glance shared. They were tired but ready, knowing that the day’s journey would test them again—but they would face it together, as always.
Slowly, the forest began to thin, and the faint outline of another valley appeared in the distance. Ling signaled for the team to pause and look ahead.
"Almost there," she said. "Keep your spacing. Watch each other. Step by step, together."
The team nodded, gripping their gear and taking a moment to prepare. Then, with careful steps, they began moving forward, leaving the shelter of the trees behind and heading toward the new valley, ready for whatever lay ahead.
The team moved steadily down the gentle slope toward the new valley. The grass here was shorter, and the ground firmer than the forest floor, making walking easier. Sunlight reached the valley, giving them a clear view of what lay ahead.
Han Yi stayed close to Mu Chen, keeping his eyes on the ground.
"...Feels good to have solid footing again."
Mu Chen nodded, scanning the edges of the valley.
"...Stay alert. Valleys can hide pitfalls or sudden threats. Step by step, together."
Yue walked beside Ling, scanning the horizon.
"...Looks calm... but we stay ready. We can’t assume it’s completely safe."
Lei Feng led slightly ahead, pointing out small dips or rocks in the path.
"...Watch your step. Keep your spacing. We move as a group."
As they crossed the open ground, a few small animals darted away at their approach. The team didn’t hurry, keeping to a steady pace. The valley stretched wide before them, with patches of trees and a winding stream that reflected the sunlight.
Han Yi let out a quiet sigh.
"...This feels... easier than the forest, at least for now."
Mu Chen kept scanning the sides and ahead.
"...Easier, yes. But stay alert. Step by step."
Ling paused briefly near a small rise, signaling the team to gather.
"Look ahead. There’s a line of trees near the far side. That will give us cover for the next rest. We move carefully until we reach it."
The team nodded, adjusting their packs and gripping their weapons. One by one, they continued forward, moving steadily across the open valley. Each step was careful, but confidence grew with every stride.
The trees on the far side of the valley drew closer. Ling motioned for them to slow and stay in line.
"Almost there. Keep your spacing, watch the ground, and watch each other. Step by step, together."
The team approached the line of trees, each member alert and ready. The grass gave way to a few scattered rocks, but the ground remained stable. Small birds flitted from branch to branch as the team moved closer to the cover.
Han Yi kept his eyes on the path, stepping carefully over uneven spots.
"...Just a little further... we’ll be under the trees soon."
Mu Chen stayed close, staff in hand, scanning the edges of the valley.
"...Almost there. Keep your spacing. Step by step."
Yue reached the edge of the tree line first, looking back at the team.
"...Looks clear here. We can move into the trees safely."
Lei Feng nodded, keeping an eye on the surroundings as they entered the shaded area.
"...Good. Stay alert, but we can relax slightly now. The trees will give us cover."
Ling led them to a small clearing among the trees, surrounded by low rocks and thick trunks. She signaled for them to pause.
"Spread out a little, but stay within sight. Check your gear, drink some water, and catch your breath. We rest here before continuing. Step by step, together."
Han Yi sank onto the soft grass, exhaling deeply.
"...Finally... some shade and cover. Feels good to sit for a moment."
Mu Chen crouched nearby, eyes still scanning.
"...Rest, yes. But stay aware. Even here, we don’t drop our guard completely."
Yue leaned against a tree, brushing dirt from her hands.
"...Together... we’ve made it through another stretch. It feels... safe, at least for now."
Lei Feng adjusted his pack and sat on a rock.
"...We rest here until the sun rises higher. Then we continue. Step by step, together."
Ling looked over the group, calm but watchful.
"Eat, drink, and check your gear. Night or day, the journey continues. But for now, we recover together."
