Ultimate Magus in Cultivation World-Chapter 245: Train V
Yue moved carefully, following Ling’s lead.
"...This spot feels safer... maybe we can rest for a little while."
Lei Feng adjusted his grip on his stick, keeping his eyes on the shadows.
"...We use this chance to recover, but stay alert. Nothing is completely safe."
Ling nodded and motioned for them to spread out slightly while staying in sight of each other.
"Pick a spot to sit or lean. Drink, eat a little, check your gear. Keep weapons close. Step by step, together."
The group found small clearings under the trees. Some leaned against trunks, others sat on the soft grass. The air was cooler here, and the quiet felt different from the forest they had crossed earlier.
Han Yi took a long drink of water, exhaling slowly.
"...I can finally relax for a moment."
Mu Chen crouched nearby, scanning the edges of the tree line.
"...Relax, yes. But not for too long. Stay aware. Together."
Yue brushed some dirt from her hands and smiled faintly.
"...It’s nice to have a moment like this. A little quiet before the next part."
Lei Feng stretched his sore muscles, glancing around.
"...We rest just enough to regain energy. Then we keep moving. Step by step, together."
Ling looked over the group, calm but alert.
"Good. Drink, eat, check your gear. The forest is quiet, but we move again soon. Step by step. Together."
The team used the rest wisely, their bodies recovering while their eyes and ears remained alert. Soon, Ling would signal them to continue, but for now, they were ready and steady, prepared for the next stretch of the journey.
After a short while, Ling gave a small hand signal.
"Time to move," she said quietly. "We go together, slowly and carefully. Step by step."
Han Yi stood first, stretching his legs.
"...Alright... I think I can keep going now."
Mu Chen followed, staff ready.
"...Eyes open. Watch each other, watch the surroundings. Together."
Yue picked up her pack and joined them, scanning the forest edges.
"...Quiet so far... let’s hope it stays that way."
Lei Feng adjusted his grip and led slightly ahead, eyes scanning the path.
"...We move as one. Communicate if you see anything unusual. Step by step."
The group stepped into the deeper part of the forest. The ground was firmer here, and small clearings appeared between the trees. Sunlight filtered through, making it easier to see, but shadows still moved with the wind.
Han Yi exhaled, trying to relax his shoulders.
"...This part feels easier... but I’m still watching everything."
Mu Chen nodded, eyes sharp.
"...Good. Keep alert, but don’t let tension slow you down. We’re stronger together."
They continued forward, moving carefully but steadily. The forest was quiet now, with only the occasional rustle of leaves or distant birdcall. Each step was measured, each glance shared, each movement coordinated.
Ling led them through the shadows, keeping a slow, steady pace.
"Almost there. Keep your spacing, stay aware. Step by step. Together."
As they walked, the trees began to thin slightly, and the faint outline of an open meadow appeared ahead. The air smelled fresher, and a soft breeze hinted at relief and a chance to rest again.
Han Yi’s eyes lit up faintly.
"...Looks like we might get a proper break soon."
Mu Chen scanned the horizon one last time.
"...Stay ready until we reach it. Together."
Yue smiled faintly, though tired.
"...Together."
Lei Feng let out a small breath, anticipation mixed with fatigue.
"...Let’s reach that meadow. Step by step, together."
The group stepped out of the last cluster of trees and into the open meadow. The grass here was soft, dotted with small wildflowers swaying gently in the breeze. Sunlight bathed the area, and the sound of a distant stream added to the calm. For the first time in a long while, the team felt a sense of relief.
Han Yi sank to the ground, letting out a long sigh.
"...Finally... a place to sit properly."
Mu Chen crouched nearby, still keeping his eyes moving.
"...We can rest here, but don’t let your guard down completely. Stay aware of the surroundings."
Yue walked to the edge of the meadow, looking out over the landscape. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"...It’s peaceful... almost feels safe. We can catch our breath here."
Lei Feng leaned against a low rock, stretching his sore arms and legs.
"...We’ll rest for a bit, regain strength, then continue. Step by step. Together."
Ling glanced at the group, nodding.
"Good. Spread out a little, but stay within sight. Drink, eat, and check your gear. This meadow gives us a moment to recover, but we move again before it gets dark."
The team settled in, some sitting on the grass, others leaning against rocks. Water was shared, packs adjusted, and minor injuries tended to. For a while, the meadow offered calm, a rare pause in their long journey.
Han Yi looked around, a faint smile on his face.
"...I almost forget what it feels like to be this relaxed."
Mu Chen shook his head slightly, still vigilant.
"...Enjoy it, but remember—step by step. We keep moving together."
Yue nodded, taking a deep breath of the fresh air.
"...Together. That’s how we’ve made it this far."
Lei Feng scanned the horizon, making mental notes of paths and landmarks.
"...We rest, but soon we move. Step by step, together."
Ling stood finally, signaling the end of the pause.
"Enough rest. Gather your things, check your gear. The sun is lowering. We move before darkness falls. Step by step, together."
One by one, the team rose, sharing small nods of determination. The meadow had given them strength, but the journey was not yet over. With careful steps, they began moving again, ready for whatever lay beyond the open grass, side by side as always.
The team moved steadily across the meadow, the soft grass giving way to slightly rougher terrain as they approached the edge of a small ridge. From here, the land sloped gently downward into another stretch of open ground, with scattered rocks and low shrubs. The sun was low now, painting the sky with warm hues, but there was still enough light to move safely.
Han Yi walked cautiously, glancing at the ridge ahead.
"...Looks like a short drop... we just have to be careful."
