Tyrannical Tycoon Haunts Me Relentlessly-Chapter 953: Always the Most Perfect
When Xia Yinian spoke, she was still looking ahead.
Even though she knew there would be another chance in three years, her heart still ached.
If she had completed the last step perfectly, even if she didn’t win, she was confident she could make it into the top five.
The top five could participate in the International Alchemy Competition at the end of the year, which was a great opportunity.
Unfortunately, she missed the last step.
Such a good opportunity was gone just like that, how could she not be heartbroken?
Knowing Brother Ling Qian was watching her, Xia Yinian didn’t dare to look at him.
She didn’t want him to see her disappointment, or to worry about her anymore.
"A minute passed in the blink of an eye, and now comes the most nerve-wracking moment of the day." The Emcee’s voice came down.
Gu Lingqian picked up Xia Yinian’s right hand, and together, their hands covered the fingerprint detector.
He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "In my heart, you will always be the most perfect."
Gu Lingqian didn’t care if she could hear him; these were words buried deep in his heart, and speaking them was a relief for him.
Perhaps, he wasn’t afraid to confess to her, he just didn’t want to burden the little girl.
Xia Yinian was slightly stunned, turning her head to look at the man beside her.
As she withdrew her gaze, Gu Lingqian lightly pressed his lips together, shifting his gaze to the screen.
"The last three seconds to collect fingerprints, countdown begins, three, two..."
At this moment, the contestants were so tense they almost forgot to breathe.
Everyone’s eyes were locked on the big screen on stage, except for Xia Yinian.
She kept looking intently at the man beside her until Gu Lingqian took her middle finger and placed it on the fingerprint detector, and she snapped out of it.
In an instant, the place erupted into noise, but Xia Yinian could only hear a faint sound.
She glanced at the screen and unexpectedly saw her name.
Though it was at the very bottom row, it was indeed her name.
She couldn’t make it to the top three, but at least she had a chance to participate in the International Alchemy Competition at the end of the year, right?
"Brother Ling Qian, I... I made it, I really made it." Xia Yinian bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I have a chance to represent Ye City at the end of the year, I really made it."
Gu Lingqian hugged her tightly, not saying a word.
The judges had their backs to the big screen, but a slightly smaller screen was set up to their right as well.
Somehow, Gu Beicheng and Feng Yan, who had started working again, glanced at the screen the moment the results came out.
Looking up, Xia Yinian felt an urge to rush down and find them.
"I believe everyone witnessed the results of this competition, didn’t you?" The Emcee smiled and said aloud.
"Even if your name isn’t on the big screen, the mini displays on your tables have listed all your scores."
"This year’s top five results are somewhat surprising, aren’t they?" The Emcee raised his hand, looking at the big screen with the audience.
"The champion of this session is Lady Yuan Yaying. Let’s give her our warmest applause and most sincere congratulations!" The Emcee turned around and waved.
The top five were announced. Although more than ninety percent of the people below didn’t have a chance, looking at the names above, everyone seemed slightly accepting.
At least this year’s competition seemed indeed fairer than before.
