Tyrannical Tycoon Haunts Me Relentlessly-Chapter 877: Uncle Lied to Her, Didn’t He?
Seeing the sadness of the girl beside him, Gu Beicheng unconsciously tightened his grip on her small hand.
"As long as you like it, it will be yours." He raised an eyebrow, his cheerful voice ringing out.
"I didn’t say I liked it." Xia Yinian glared at him, still wanting to pull her hand back.
In the past, maybe she would have liked it and often envied Xia Chuxue.
However, now it seems she’s outgrown the age of liking these things, and there’s nothing else to look forward to.
"Hmm?" Gu Beicheng turned his head to meet her gaze and grabbed her hand again.
"It’s true, there’s really no need to be so exaggerated." Xia Yinian withdrew her gaze, using her right hand to stir the straw in the juice.
As long as she can be with her family or with someone she likes, even a simple life is a form of happiness.
"What are you thinking about?" The man leaned in closer and asked softly.
"I was thinking... about my family." Xia Yinian replied calmly.
Uncle also knows about her situation, he just doesn’t want to help her.
"Regardless of the reason, they still abandoned you. Shouldn’t you cherish what you have now?" The man tightened his grip on her hand again.
"I believe they must have their difficulties. If they could, no one would want to abandon their child."
Xia Yinian pursed her lips and took a sip of juice.
Gu Beicheng frowned and pulled her closer to him.
Xia Yinian turned her head to look at the man beside her, frowning slightly as if to ask what he was doing.
"If they’re all gone..." Gu Beicheng met Xia Yinian’s gaze, his eyes becoming somewhat deep and profound.
Xia Yinian paused, unable to react for a moment.
They’re... all gone? Is Uncle hinting at something?
He doesn’t want to help her, but does he know that her biological parents are gone?
More than ten years had passed, and Xia Yinian wasn’t very confident.
Since discovering she wasn’t blood-related to the Xia Family, she had imagined over a dozen reasons why her parents abandoned her back then and had pictured many scenarios of their current situation.
But she never considered that her parents might have already passed away, perhaps because she didn’t want to accept this possibility deep down.
No matter whether they want to reunite with her or not, she just wants to find them and occasionally see them.
Or, when they grow old, she wants to do her small bit to look after them—it’s that simple.
But if they’re already gone...
"You..." After a while, Xia Yinian blinked and softly called out.
Gu Beicheng waved his hand, and a passing bartender stopped in front of them.
"Two glasses of red wine," the man said in a deep voice.
"Yes, sir." The bartender placed two glasses of red wine on the table.
Xia Yinian continued to stare intently at Gu Beicheng, seemingly waiting for his answer.
Gu Beicheng released her hand, picked up a glass of wine, and handed her one.
"Have some wine; maybe you’ll feel a bit better."
He didn’t want to lie to her and didn’t want her to linger on this matter any longer.
Even if she’s not the Young Miss of the Feng Family, he can still give her the life she wants.
Gu Beicheng’s words made Xia Yinian almost certain of her inner thoughts.
Her biological parents are really gone.
The girl didn’t take the wine glass and suddenly lowered her head.
She didn’t want to cry, but she couldn’t help the tears welling up in her eyes.
They’re gone, really gone? She hadn’t even had a chance to see them, and they had already passed away?
Why is it like this? Is Uncle lying to her, isn’t he?
