Chapter 394 -291: The Great Battle Begins (Please Subscribe)
The night was deep.
At every intersection and alley in the metropolis, one could see many strong men dressed in black suits.
These people had solemn expressions and sharp eyes; any pedestrian caught in their gaze would get a hair-raising feeling all over.
Those who appeared suspicious were interrogated. Although these men seemed fierce and menacing, they were still polite in their demeanor. If the questioned person cooperated, they would likely be let go after the questioning, but if they encountered someone who refused to cooperate, soon, a large group of men in black would gather…!
In the center of Zhongshan Street in the metropolis, Rolls-Royce Phantoms and Bentleys travelled smoothly on the road. At the sight of the leading Phantom, the men in black at the intersections all bowed respectfully in greeting.
Normally, the convoy would only consist of the Phantom and the Bentley, but now it had grown several times in size. Following the Bentley were four Ferraris, four Maybachs, and two Lincolns, with forty to fifty bodyguards in total providing close protection behind Chu Mo.
In the spacious and comfortable rear of the Phantom, Chu Mo, holding a phone, was speaking to the person on the other end of the line.
“Mr. Lu, even if I let this go, the young miss of the Yang family in the Capital City has been implicated. Yang Duoer is still in the emergency room, her life hanging in the balance. Of the five Yang siblings, the most beloved by the Family Head is this Yang Duoer. Mr. Lu, if you can settle things with the Yang family, I, Chu Mo, will look past my pride, swallow my teeth and deal with it just to give you face!”
The Rolls-Royce convoy of over a dozen cars slowly stopped in front of the Starlight Cinema on Zhongshan Road. As the convoy came to a rest, Chu Mo did not hurry to get out, but waited quietly for a reply from the other end of the phone.
It was clear Mr. Lu on the other end was also racking his brains. He had a friendship with Su Zhengxiong that spanned several decades, one that could be described as deep and abiding. Su Zhengxiong had sought him out personally not long ago, asking for his intervention, resulting in this phone call. He hesitated for a moment and then said in a heavy voice:
“As far as I know, Su Zhengxiong wants a truce. His alliance with the thirteen five-star hotels in Lujiazui was a result of forceful circumstances. He shouldn’t strike at this critical moment. Chu Mo, are you certain that it was Su Zhengxiong who took action? If it really was him who acted covertly, then I will no longer interfere and will let you handle the matter amongst yourselves.”
Chu Mo, seated serenely in the back of the Phantom, casually crossed his legs. His gaze swept through the car window towards the outside, where the night had deepened and the once-bustling streets had turned quiet.
The vendors along the road had mostly packed up, leaving only a few still braving the cold wind persistently.
Chu Mo’s gaze eventually settled on a restaurant nearby, where people were still taking pictures of a Koenigsegg worth a billion parked at the entrance.
He narrowed his eyes slightly. Now that he had decided to pin the dirty water on Su Zhengxiong, Chu Mo no longer cared about face and spoke directly:
“I can’t be absolutely certain it was Su Zhengxiong, but Mr. Lu, you might not know that among the four main people in charge of Bafang International Chain Hotels, two have been coerced and bribed by Su Zhengxiong, and all internal information of Bafang International has been leaked to him.
Moreover, Su Zhengxiong has also colluded with the person in charge of the eighty-ninth floor of the Tianxiangyuan Grand Hotel, who happens to be the daughter-in-law of the Zhou family in the metropolis.
Initially, I planned to invite the Zhou family head, Zhou Weimin, to dinner tomorrow night and also invited the chairman of the International Grand Hotel to discuss the high-price acquisition of the hotel.
I suspect that Su Zhengxiong got wind of this information and feared that the hotel alliance he had managed to form would be dismantled by me one by one, so…
Of course, these are just conjectures. Two hours before the attack tonight, I invited the young miss of the Yang family, Yang Duoer, to watch a movie after dining at a restaurant. I had noticed someone secretly taking pictures of me, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. In hindsight, someone must have been targeting me then!”
Chu Mo elucidated, his words a mix of truth and deceit. As for how Mr. Lu on the other end of the phone would judge it, that depended on the other party’s thoughts.
The situation had developed to this point, and were it not for the false accusations against Yang Duoer, Chu Mo might still have been able to maintain a peaceful relationship with Su Zhengxiong.
But now, the two were in a situation of irreconcilable strife.
As Chu Mo had framed Su Zhengxiong, the latter was naturally aware, eliminating any possibility of reconciliation between the two. Naturally, Chu Mo’s current task was to devise a strategy to fully rally support and isolate Su Zhengxiong’s forces.
Mr. Lu was someone Chu Mo had to win over, as at this stage, Chu Mo was not yet ready to turn against the four major families in the metropolis. If Mr. Lu were to stand against him, it would place Chu Mo in a passive position, which is why he was so intent on gaining Mr. Lu’s support, even if it meant resorting to flattery and deception.
This time, the person on the other end of the phone was silent for an unusually long time. Clearly, Mr. Lu did not know that Su Zhengxiong had planted so many spies around Chu Mo.
After a long while, the old man let out a soft sigh, his voice weary:
“I won’t interfere with this matter, but Chu Mo, given our past friendship, I still need to remind you that Su Zhengxiong is not as simple as he appears. If you two really go all out against each other, I’m afraid others might benefit from your fight. Take care of yourself!”
A busy tone came through the phone.
Chu Mo put away his phone, slightly squinting his eyes, yet his expression carried a trace of coldness.
Having an asset worth fifty to sixty billion yuan and ranked forty-fifth on the Forbes list, Su Zhengxiong was naturally not so straightforward.
But even if it were Zhang Dahua, who topped the Forbes list with a net worth of two hundred and ninety billion yuan, Chu Mo dared to take him on.
Su Zhengxiong was not truly someone Chu Mo considered a threat!
Taking a deep breath, Chu Mo opened the car door. As he stepped out, a series of car doors opened in unison, and dozens of men in black suits immediately surrounded the area.
Normally, Chu Mo wouldn’t cause such a commotion, but today was different due to the attack. The situation was unusual, so the numerous bodyguards were all solemn, their nerves twitching at even the slightest movement in their surroundings.
After getting out of the car, Chu Mo looked at his wristwatch!
It was ten-fifty at night, already deep into the evening. His gaze searched among the few remaining street vendors on the roadside, and he quickly identified his target.
Ignoring the dozens of bodyguards on high alert, Chu Mo strode towards a vendor.
He stopped for the third time in front of a stall selling pets. The original three black kittens were down to the last one. He crouched down, looking at the black kitten that was showing its claws to Miss Yang’s family. Gently, he reached out his hand, cradled the kitten in his arms, and began to stroke it. Then he looked up at the white-haired septuagenarian.
The kitten seller’s face showed slight panic. His rough features and murky eyes were filled with nervousness, as the dozens of ready-to-pounce bodyguards exerted tremendous pressure on him.
Chu Mo’s face held a smile as he gently said,
“Old man, I’ll buy this kitten. How much?”
The dark-skinned septuagenarian revealed a simple smile, cautiously responding,
“They’re just kittens born to our house cat, not worth much. Give what you think is fair!”
Chu Mo nodded with a smile, and without further ado, signaled to Fang Lihu beside him. The tall bodyguard pulled out two hundred-yuan bills from his pocket and handed them to the old man. Then, amidst the seller’s continuous thanks, Chu Mo, holding the kitten, turned and left.
The convoy set off again. The Koenigsegg that had been parked in front of the restaurant was likewise driven by a bodyguard, following the convoy.
As Chu Mo, holding the kitten, was about to instruct the convoy to head back to the hospital, the phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, then immediately answered.
“Mr. Chu, Miss Zhan has taken a group of people to the Tengwang Pavilion Grand Hotel! It seems that Su Zhengxiong has already sealed off the entire hotel.”

Chu Mo frowned. He had ordered Zhan Bingxue not to act rashly; unexpectedly, the girl had still been impulsive. He said gravely,
“Understood. You immediately take people over to protect Zhan Bingxue. I’ll be on my way there too!”
After hanging up the phone from the detective agency’s manager, Jiang Tao, Chu Mo immediately dialed Zhan Bingxue’s cell phone, but the call kept ringing, unanswered.
This was the first time Zhan Bingxue had not taken his call.
Chu Mo didn’t know what had happened on her end. His heart sank slightly as he instructed Fang Lihu in front of him,
“Go to the Tengwang Pavilion Grand Hotel immediately, and be quick!”
