Triiffic-Soul: Can I Be In Control?-Chapter 189 – Syrus Has a Day Planned
Chapter 189 – Syrus Has a Day Planned
The trio decided to spend another day exploring what the city had to offer, but while they did, their minds happened to remember what happened last time they went on a fun stroll. They hadn’t forgotten about Mary’s request, but they still had a few personal plans within the city that overlapped with general investigation activities.
[I swear I will get some payback for the stunt you pulled.] (Luna)
[It wasn’t that bad. We got some fun from it.] (Syrus)
[Keep telling yourself no harm was done. That will only make my revenge all the more sweeter.] (Luna)
Syrus's action left a deep scar in the trio's trust that could only be fixed by... a good dinner or perhaps more potion supplies. It wasn’t an event anyone was actually mad about, but enough emotion brewed that some fun revenge was likely planned for the future. Syrus was well aware of the possible plans, but attempting to execute anything that would genuinely annoy her while sharing a body was a difficult effort.
The fact that Syrus managed to do so in the first place was a testament to something.
Her dastardly gambling adventure had made the other two cautious about Syrus’s action in case she was planning to do a part two of such an event.
[Can we just have a nice walk around the city?] Eva pleaded. [There are more places I want to see how they have changed.]
They had been around many locations now, but they had prioritised the places Eva had spent a long part of her life around, so there were plenty of places they hadn’t explored yet. It was a big city, and there was enough change that it was even worth going through areas they had already explored.
[Yeah, we could even explore 29th street and the cellar underneath the small—] (Syrus)
[Quiet, you. We are not gambling again.] (Luna)
Luna was on full alert, expecting Syrus to do something fishy on this trip. However, no matter how much she tried to peek into Syrus’s feelings, the woman was feeling too much of anything.
[Why would we gamble? We got cash from the nobility and from our winnings last time? There is no possible reason for us to go back.] (Syrus)
[We didn’t even need the money for the first time, and you purposely left out a reason: going for you just to have fun.] (Luna)
[Ah, that could never be the reason.] Syrus shook their head. Playing up the fact that gambling for fun was something that no one would ever do. Despite the fact that it was what she did the first time they went gambling in this country.
[...] Eva was a little worried about what was going to happen on this fun trip around the city.
[Sigh… do you have any specific places you wish you were planning to explore, Syrus?] (Luna)
[A few spots; I'm just curious about the daily operation of the city, but I have no hard plans. I just want to go around, relax and explore.] (Syrus)
Luna decided, against her better judgement, to believe Syrus, as what possibility could she have planned to mess with the duo today that would be outside her expectations?
[I must be dreaming…] Luna said to herself, the words spilling out of her mind as she watched the madness happening before her eyes. An elephant holding a sword. She had heard about the creature, but the closest she had ever been was mutated animals that shared traits with the creature.
And now there was one swinging a sword around… The sight was cool, if not amazing, but the lingering suspicion Luna had caused a rock to form in her stomach. Made even worse with the sword becoming alight, and the fire from it danced in the air as the blade was swung around.
[Hey, he is pretty good.] Syrus nodded, proud of a fellow weapon wielder.
[How did you do this…] Luna asked, exhausted.
[Me?] Syrus paused, sounding confused. [When would I have the time to set this up? Don’t get me wrong, working on something like this would be a blast. Haven’t worked with animals much, but the ones that have been trained well. Pleasure to work with. But despite the fact that there is a fire sword, I had nothing to do with this. I promise.]
[If you are lying to me… I want to take some of your control time.] (Luna)
[Sure, sure. I won’t even add a counter for that bet.] Luna could feel Syrus smirking.
They didn’t stay to watch the show forever. It would last all day, and there was no reason to crowd the space. Syrus let a group of kids and their parents into the place where she was standing so they could have a good view of the performance. This day was supposed to be a relaxing event where they explored the city, so there were plenty more places to explore.
A large two-storey building collapsed on the ground as Syrus turned the corner, to the complete shock of both her sisters. It was so perfectly timed that the event seemed scripted.
If that wasn’t the worst part, a group of people immediately swarmed the building to the complete shock of the people demolishing the building as they began searching through the rubble for something. Climbing over each other in the struggle. What they could only assume was that the owner of the home was shaking his head, looking severely disappointed at the group of people.
[I…] Luna swore that this all had to be a nightmare. What else could this be….
During a street vendor's sale, the guards showed up. Then the shop exploded. The end, and Syrus just sat back eating a cold creamy food she had never eaten before and watched the show unfold live. Eva panicked when she saw the potions fall into the large pot to cause the explosion, but it wasn’t anything big. The man was being arrested for fraud, and the materials he used were the real stuff that could cause danger.
A man ate a bagel.
Luna wasn’t sure why this irritated her, but the way he nodded to Syrus and she nodded back… Something about it just irritated her more as she felt trapped in this conspiracy.
Turning down another street, Syrus paused, and soon the loud sound of a horse galloping down the street was noticed by Eva and Luna.
[A runaway horse…] (Luna)
[There are kids in the way!] (Eva)
Luna’s mind felt like it had been hit with another hammer, while Eva, who was thankfully still in the clear, went straight to panic as she was worried about the potential danger to the kids in the street.
However, Syrus said back, observing the situation in its entirety. The first person to act appeared to be the one who lost the horse, and with a strong gust of wind, the horse went flying through the air over the children without any worry.
[Oh my, a flying horse.] Syrus clicked her tongue. [Truly a majestic sight.]
Luna had entered complete Syrus suspicion mode. Syrus had to be doing something here; there was too much chaos on this ordinary walk.
With her arrogant tone and beaming sensation of joy, Luna was confident that Syrus had done set this up somehow to mess with them
If she had looked at the situation properly, she should’ve realised that it was no way physically possible for Syrus. She didn’t have the connection to set these events up, or the ability to send information without the other two realising. If anything, only Eva and Luna potentially had that ability. By using Moonlight or Manipulation in certain ways, it was possible to transfer a message to another person; it would be hard, and they would need not to look at what they were doing, but potentially possible. The others would still know they had activated an attribute, but that wouldn’t be the first time. Doing some minor magic to pass the time out of sight did happen occasionally—when appropriate.
There was also the fact that Syrus wouldn’t endanger people like this; however, at this point, Luna was half convinced she was still asleep and this was all some stupid nightmare.
“What did you do…” The words came out of their mouth the moment they were in a private place. Luna didn’t even mean to; it was just that everything was so wild and almost dreamlike.
[Well, did you have a fun day?] Syrus asked.
Eva decided to respond first. [I mean. Yeah, it was fun? We got to see a lot of the city, and there were many impressive sights. The weirdness was strange… but kind of fun in its own way, no one was hurt, and so it is kind of funny to look back on.]
[Haha, well, I am glad it was a good day; then it was worth the day spent.] Syrus's joy lit up their mental space, which caused Luna to ask.
[How did you do it…] She complained. [I have thought about it time and again, but everything…] Luna felt so completely and utterly defeated. She had prepared for Syrus to try and trick them into another gambling den, or to some other location for her to have fun, but instead they really just walked around the city and ate some food, but saw so many weird things that made this day so strange…
[Your reactions are sure a right joy, and if you want an answer, then it is the same thing as before. I didn’t do anything.] (Syrus)
[That cannot be possible…] (Luna)
[Really? How could I prepare for any of those events without either of you knowing? While I would love to be able to do that because it would be quite funny, no, I didn’t set anything up today.] (Syrus)
[Then…] (Luna)
[You guys just need to be better at listening and seeing.] Syrus laughed and wished she had the power to drag them to the mental space to give them a pat on the head.
Syrus explained exactly what happened and what parts she planned for them to see. The easy things were the building demolition event and elephants. Syrus had seen signs mentioning both events that the other two didn’t register, but that quick glance was enough to jot it down in her memory. All the people running around after the building deduction, yeah, she had no idea why they did that, but she was grateful they did, since it got a great reaction out of Luna.
The horse, well, Syrus heard the footsteps of the creature from ages away, but the other two didn’t register the sound through the clutter of other noise. So, to ensure everything was alright, Syrus made her way towards the street she heard the sound coming from.
For the street vendor, she had heard mumblings over the last week about the place being requested to be taken down due to faulty products. So she made sure to be in the area today to see that happen. It was near where plenty of food was sold so Syrus used that fact to have lunch and observe the area. It was close enough to the building destruction that Syrus kept her ears open if there were mentions of guards moving.
[What about the man–] (Luna)
[That was just you being paranoid. We made eye contact, so we did the classic hello with a nod and moved on with the day.] (Syrus)
Luna fell speechless.
