Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start-Chapter 255: Reaching The Elven Settlement
As they walked, the fog ahead moved away from them, and their tracks were being covered by the gray behind them.
Dora stayed asleep in Rion’s absolutely stable embrace, and all of a sudden, a faint crunch reached Rion’s ear.
His head instantly twisted towards the sound, and he asked, "Zaelyane, are these islands inhabited?"
Zaelyane stopped in her tracks and added with a flat expression, "Yes, because the veiled islands have more ether than anywhere else, it’s inhabited by ether beasts much stronger than anywhere else."
Yuura and Rion gave her a deadpan stare, and Rion muttered, "Why did you tell me so soon?"
Zaelyane agreed to his statement with a nod and said, "I had forgotten about them because they do not attack elves."
’So my zone is not working and I can’t see more than a few steps around myself while we are surrounded by countless strong ether beasts... what a shitty situation,’ Rion remarked in his head, and a frown snuck up on his face.
"Let’s move faster," he commanded as he sped his steps.
Zaelyane nodded, and Yuura looked around in vigilance as they quickened their steps.
A few moments later, they climbed a steep hill and descended it without taking a single break.
Rion continuously checked Dora with his aura and steeled himself.
The further inside they walked in the fog, the more sounds reached them, and before long, a low growl reached Rion.
Rion instantly took his spear out of his inventory and threw it towards the sound.
The spear cut through the fog, and a pained cry, followed by a blunt boom, resounded from the gray.
He called his spear back, and just as it returned, the fog behind it turned black, and an ether beast that looked like a black tiger made up of darkness jumped at Rion.
Golden flames danced around Rion’s fist, and he got ready to strike it once it entered his reach, but before it could, white lightning cracked near it, and Yuura’s daggers pierced its neck from the bottom.
After his clean strike, Yuura jumped back and stared at the growling ether beast with narrowed eyes.
Blood flooded out of its neck, and with a low cry, it closed its eyes and breathed its last.
Yuura swung the blood off his daggers and said, "You don’t have to worry about them, my liege."
Rion smiled, gave him a nod, and said, "Thank you."
Yuura scratched the back of his head and responded with an embarrassed smile, "Even though I liked it, you shouldn’t say that, my liege."
Seeing his childish act, Rion’s eyes darkened for a moment, and he thought, ’He is just a child, but I was too blind to see it.’
With heavy steps, he appeared beside Zaelyane and asked, "How long would it take us to reach your motherland?"
Zaelyane glanced at him from the corner of her eye and answered flatly, "Around eight hours? I am not really sure. It was over sixty years ago when I left this place."
A sigh escaped him. ’Of course.’
He slowed down. ’What if...’
His eyes turned red, and he looked at the fog, and much to his pleasant surprise, he was able to perceive the weak and critical points of the ether beasts, trees, and other things hidden within the fog.
’If this works, then what about Absolute Will?’
Without wasting a single moment, his lips parted, and he spoke, "Clear."
As he spoke, the words left his lips and transformed into nothing because Absolute Will didn’t even activate. It was as if the fog didn’t even exist.
A disappointed expression appeared on his face, and he mumbled under his breath, "At least it’s better than before."
He shook off his disappointment and focused on Dora and the path ahead of them.
As they continued, multiple obstacles such as deep craters, wide rivers, narrow cavern passages, hills, and many more fell in their path, and they easily tackled all of them.
"Wait! If this place is called the veiled ’islands’ shouldn’t it have more than one island?" Rion questioned with a frown and thought, ’How did I miss such a basic thing? I have to get my head straight.’
Zaelyane, who was a few steps ahead of him, answered without looking back, "It is more than one island — we are currently treading the land belts that connect the islands; that is why they have so many irregularities."
"I see..." Rion looked around himself, but all he saw was fog and red and yellow dots floating in the distance.
Without any further questions, they marched forward, and Dora moved within his embrace.
He lowered his head to look at her and found out that she was still asleep.
’Cute...’ A sweet smile blossomed on his face and filled him with newfound energy as his steps quickened even further.
After about three hours of walking and one hour of resting, the fog suddenly began to thin, and Zaelyane stated with a reminiscing glint in her eyes, "We are about to reach Alsyandra."
Rion’s eyes gleamed with his usual curiosity for a moment before they returned to the toughness of the high commander of the Dhaevrak tribe and the Prince of Leonara Kingdom.
The fog thinned entirely, and the world before them became clear.
Past the wide trees and wilderness stood an enormous, mythical tree whose leaves shed a faint green glow, and golden fruits hung at its branches; its bark was pale and looked like a pristine bone.
Around the tree were the huts of the elves, each made of pristine wood and covered by fallen leaves of the mythical tree.
At the far end of the settlement was a cave that had an arch carved out of pale wood.
As Rion stepped out of the fog, his Zone spread throughout the area, and three neon green arrows and blue screens appeared before his eyes.
