Chapter 234: Leaving For The Capital

About half an hour later.

Alger stood at the window and watched Calvus standing at the manor’s main entrance.

"Are you sure about this?" Selena, who was standing beside him, asked worriedly.

Alger nodded. "I am."

"What if he finds out about his mother?" She questioned.

Alger smiled, looked at Selena, and said, "He won’t... He has no features of hers. Even she would not be able to guess that he is her son."

"I would not say so. Their personality is the same," she commented.

He chuckled, "You know she has now been appointed as the principal... I do not think she would have the time for such a thing while taking care of the academy."

"I just hope that Marquis Rayfield does not find out about him..." she mumbled.

He shook his head and stated, "You are worrying too much... How would they even meet?"

Rion sat in his room and mumbled, "Does he not know about the herb...?"

’Should I tell them about it?’ Sighing, he fell onto his bed and mumbled while staring at the ceiling, "Never mind, I’ll just accompany him when he meets Lady Liensa."

"I’ve packed everything," Yuura, who had a bag on his back and two around his arms, stated evenly.

Rion nodded, stood up from his bed, and stepped out of the room.

Dora and Zaelyane also walked out at the same time.

Rion walked closer to Dora and mumbled, "How are you feeling?"

Dora gave him a tired smile and mumbled in a low voice, "Same as yesterday..."

He looked away, bit his lower lip, and nodded before he clapped once and announced,

"All right, everyone. Today we are leaving for the capital, and it will take us a month to reach it... After that, we will break away from Calvus and the others, get another carriage, and make way towards the Neptuma Federation."

Everyone nodded, and all of them began walking towards the entrance.

A few minutes later, they reached the entrance, and just as they did so, Rion’s gaze fell on the Silver Lions that were lined at the two edges of the main path.

"Is something wrong, my liege?" Yuura questioned, hands moving towards daggers.

Rion shook his head and said, "Calm down, they just want to watch us as we leave."

Yuura furrowed his brows, gave him a nod, and lowered his hands.

Rion stepped past the Silver Lions, and just as he did so, the knights at the front saluted them and said, "We pray that you have a great journey."

With each step, the knights beside the previous did the same, and once they stepped past the gate, they shouted in unison, "May the gods be with you!"

Hearing that, Rion chuckled and muttered, "I wouldn’t want to hear it from those who only worship weapons and shields."

The knights chuckled, and they continued their steps towards the second carriage.

Calvus and Jamie watched the knights with a smile, and Jamie mumbled, "Well, he is Nebula, so that is expected."

A wry smile appeared on Calvus’s face, and he nodded.

Three carriages were standing on the road; the first was of Calvus, Jamie, and Salis. The second was of Yuura and Zaelyane, and the third was of Rion and Dora... normally it should’ve been two, but because of Dora’s health, Alger had prepared three.

Rion gave a nod to Calvus and Zaelyane before he opened the door, helped Dora climb into the carriage, and then boarded it himself.

The others also boarded their respective carriages, and with the cacophonous neighs of the horses, the carriages began to move.

Dora placed her head on Rion’s shoulder, and he held her hand. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The left side of his face had gone purple as he channelled his aura into her and tried to improve her condition as much as he could.

’The webs of the curse have covered the strings of the demonic energy, and because of that, these strings are forcing out more of her aura and life essence...’

’Is there really nothing I can do to improve her condition?’ He questioned himself and fell back in her seat.

Sensing him move, Dora opened her eyes and mumbled tiredly, "Did we reach already?"

He displayed a smile, shook his head, and mumbled, "Not yet. You can rest."

"Mhm..." She shifted closer to him and once again closed her eyes.

He stared at her face for a few moments before he leaned his head atop hers and looked outside.

Barleyhen and the red and black mountains were no longer visible.

Around them were the crop fields that lay some distance from Barleyhen; farmers who feared the waves of ether beasts might destroy their crops stayed there.

The carriages moved without a stop, and Rion saw the crop fields turn into empty grounds to wilderness untouched by man, then back to some sort of ruined settlement which had long since been abandoned.

He didn’t know when morning turned to noon, noon to evening, and evening to night.

At night, the carriages stopped.

All of them stepped down, Salis, Rion, and Yuura installed the tents for the night, and Zaelyane took care of Dora.

Calvus rested in his carriage, and Jamie chatted with the drivers.

After installing the camps, Rion used his Zone to find water, wood for fire, and game and veggies for dinner.

Once he gathered everything, he and Jamie prepared the meals.

They then handed the plates to everyone and ate together by the campfire.

The meals ended slowly as the carriage drivers told them the various stories they had heard and the incidents they had been through.

After finishing the meals, everyone slept in the tents... everyone except Rion, he didn’t sleep instead he kept his Zone as wide as possible to make sure that no harm reached the others — All while taking care of Dora.

But even in all that, Rion was happy because he was allowed to experience things he had never experienced before.

"Don’t worry. Once you are cured, we will have many opportunities to do all of this..." he whispered while looking at Dora, who was lying asleep beside him.
