Chapter 229: Fulfilling the Promise

The next few days passed as Rion secretly visited various sites of the town, including the office of the internal law enforcement, the tavern, the shops, and many others.

Instead of trying to blend in or having someone tell him everything they knew, he just sat between the chatters, and none of them knew he was with them because of Rhaek’s stealth aura technique.

By doing that, he gained more information about the world than he did by staying in the count’s manor.

Including the current economic state of the Bulorka Kingdom, surface moves of the nearby nobles, the upcoming year’s Royal Academy admission trials, and the festival that would begin about three months from now and continue for nearly a month.

During the festival, it would become easier for everyone to enter or exit a territory without any certification, so it would be the best time for him and the others to pass through the Bulorka Kingdom and enter the Neptuma Federation.

With that in mind, Rion had already begun planning their next course of action.

However, he hadn’t yet told others about it.

The reason behind that was Jamie, who had suggested that Calvus get a tutor for Yuura and Dora.

Calvus agreed with him, and at the moment they were being taught how to speak, read, and write Soline.

But because of that, Rion had no one to annoy, so he decided to fulfil the promise that he had made on a whim.

One week after Rion’s sparring session with the knights, in the morning.

"Whoa... not bad," Rion commented, seeing the grand mansion of Selena, the captain of the Silver Lions and the sister of Alger Barley.

Smiling, he moved past the gates that were already wide open and walked towards Selena, whom his Zone had found sitting on the balcony of her room, drinking tea.

He walked past the servants and the guards like a ghost and made his way towards her.

A few minutes later, he stopped before the white doors of her room and knocked on them.

"Rumi, is that you?" Selena questioned from the opposite side, but Rion stayed silent.

Furrowing her brows, Selena asked again, "Rumi?"

Receiving no answer, she frowned, placed her teacup on the table, and walked to the doors.

’What’s going on?’ She thought as she pulled the doors open and looked outside.

"What are you doing here?" She questioned upon seeing Rion, who was standing at her door with the same faint smile he had while conversing with her brother.

"I am here to fulfill my promise," Rion answered evenly.

Her frown deepened, she narrowed her eyes and mumbled, "What did you do to the guards?"

Rion waved his hand. "Don’t worry, they weren’t even able to see me."

Hearing him, a shiver ran down her spine, and she mumbled in disbelief, "C-could not even s-see you?"

The corners of his lips lifted further, and he whispered, "You are only seeing me because I am allowing you to."

Selena’s back went cold at his statement, and she mumbled, "W-what do you mean?"

He lifted his left hand, snapped his fingers, and before her very eyes, he disappeared.

Her eyes widened in utter shock, and she frantically looked around to find him, but he was nowhere to be seen.

’What is going on? How is he doing this? Is this what he meant by my lack of knowledge about aura?’ She wondered as she stepped away from the door and said, "That is enough..."

The next moment, Rion appeared beside her and waved at her with a faint smile.

A motivated glint passed through her eyes, and she asked, "Are you here to teach me?"

His smile widened, and he muttered while making his way to the balcony, "Yes, I am."

Her gaze followed him, and she said, "Should we not move to the training chamber then?" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

He shook his head, stopped by the marble railings, and said, "Aura isn’t something you can master just by swinging your sword."

She closed the doors behind herself, strode to the balcony, and asked with a puzzled expression, "What do you mean?"

He calmly looked at her, pointed his hand at her chair, and said, "I believe you are training your aura similar to how you’ve trained in ether arts?"

She took a seat in her chair, lifted her teacup, and answered with a nod of her head, "I am."

He looked at the town stretching in front of him and said, "That’s the wrong method. To advance your aura, you don’t just train — you also understand yourself better. You try to figure out everything that you wish to achieve, that you wish to do... and after you’ve peeled enough layers of yourself, you reach the next realm of aura."

"Next realm of aura...?" She mumbled as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

He nodded and said, "They say our continent, which is covered by heavy mist from all four directions, has beings that are beyond superhumans... these beings are given the title of–"

"The Nebula!" She shouted the next moment as she shot off her chair. "Are you saying that they have reached the next realm of aura?"

"I am not sure, but that’s the only hypothesis I have concluded after listening to a few of their feats," he muttered with a hand under his chin.

Selena took a deep breath and asked, after calming herself, "What are these realms?"

He chuckled, turned towards her, and took out his bone dagger.

He channelled his aura into it and mumbled, "The first realm of aura is called Basic. In this realm, you can channel aura throughout your body and your weapons."

He raised his free hand before her, a small golden flame appeared on his palm, and he said, "The second realm of aura is called Enhanced. In this realm, aura can leave your body, and you can channel it into others."

He lowered his hands, leaned on the railings, and muttered while gazing at the boundless sky, "And the last realm that we know of, is Enlightened... the realm that I have yet to reach."
