Chapter 220: Private Chat at The Manor

Upon Rion’s request, Aliyah showed them two rooms that were close to each other.

The rooms were spacious. Each had two plush beds that were big enough for two people to sleep in, a study space by the window, two big wardrobes by the wall, and the floor was also covered with a dark blue carpet.

After showing the rooms, she pointed at the other end of the corridor and said, "The washrooms are there."

Bowing, she added, "I wish all of you a great night."

"You too," Rion replied.

She looked at him with a surprised expression before giving him a faint smile and leaving the place.

Just as she left, Rion looked at Zaelyane and said in Dharvik, "You and Dora will take this one and Yuura, and I will take that one."

Zaelyane didn’t argue; she just nodded and asked, "What do you plan to do now?"

Rion looked around, pointed at Dora and Zaelyane’s room and said, " Let’s talk inside."

All of them walked into the room, and Zaelyane closed the door behind herself.

Rion sat on the plush bed on the right to continue his words, but the bed was too soft, and he began to sink into it.

"What the..." he muttered.

A chuckle left him.

His gaze shifted towards Dora, who was looking at everything with sparkling eyes, and he asked, "Why were you acting so unimpressed before?"

Dora, who was staring at the wooden wardrobe as if it were some kind of treasure, turned her head towards Rion and answered, "I just thought that would be the best way to act according to your made-up story."

A surprised expression appeared on Rion’s face, and she added, "It’s supposed not to be our first time seeing all of this."

A baffled chuckle escaped his lips, and he said, "You did great, but for now, you have to rest."

Dora frowned, her lips parted to argue, but he cut her off with a single statement. "Do you think I cannot see that you are forcing yourself with your aura?"

"He is right," Zaelyane, who had already placed her bag beside the bed on the left, commented evenly.

Her lips opened again but Yuura didn’t allow hr to say anything.

"Are you going against the high commander’s orders?" He questioned with narrowed eyes.

All three of them, even Rion, fell silent at his words and thought, ’It wasn’t an order, but if it makes her take care of herself...’

Dora groaned under her breath and finally gave in.

She walked over to Rion and jumped onto the plush bed.

The bed creaked, and she sank face-first into it. "It’s soft..."

Rion shook his head and spoke while softly rubbing the side of her waist, "Within the next few days, the count would summon us and would ask us about our true identity."

Hearing his words, Dora turned her head towards him, and the others looked at him in confusion.

"Why would he do that...?" Asked Yuura.

Rion smiled and said, "According to their reaction upon seeing me, adventurers or presumably everyone, are restricted from going near the mountains..."

"Because the mountains are dangerous?" Zaelyane stated with a flat expression.

Rion nodded and continued, "Yes, but they are also full of rare minerals and ether beasts whose bodies are no different from gold, so why would the count restrict entry instead of making a resource-splitting pact with the adventurers whose lives do not affect the county at all?"

"Why?" Yuura asked with a puzzled expression.

Rion’s gaze shifted over the red and black mountains, and he said, "Around fifty-seven years ago, we had a great war against them... if the war was as destructive as I believe it to be I don’t understand why the outside world doesn’t already know about our existence... it’s almost as if..."

"It is as you think," Zaelyane mumbled.

She sat on the plush bed and continued, "Not everyone human is worthy to know of them, so those who weren’t simply forgot everything, and as the Dhaevrak was heavily affected by the war, they had marks that made them aware that they had forgotten something, as well as many of them were worthy of remembering them."

The atmosphere within the room turned heavy, and Rion mumbled, "I believe that the count is one of those who still remember them and the war... and the reason for the restriction is not to disturb us."

Dora sat up and said, "If that is true, then why is he doing nothing to fight them?"

Hearing her, Rion shook his head and mumbled, "The count has no reason to fight them — they had attacked us, not the kingdom... for them, it was simply a war in the neighbourhood." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"I don’t see why the count would try to fight a force that even we couldn’t defeat."

His words fell like weights, and the atmosphere within the room instantly turned grim.

For the next few minutes, all of them stayed silent until Yuura spoke through gritted teeth, "What about now?!"

He instantly appeared beside Rion and said, "My liege, you had said that they would come again... then what are we going to do? How are we going to defeat them?!"

Rion looked into his trembling eyes and muttered with a frown, "I don’t know... Even if I become strong enough to defeat them, many would still lose their lives..."

His eyes blazed with fury. "That is why I wish to turn our tribe into a kingdom and the mountains into an unpenetrable fortress."

Turning his gaze towards Zaelyane, he added, "And for that, I would need help from elves..."

For the first time, a smile appeared on Zaelyane’s face, and she replied, "Do not worry about that, I am sure that you would get our assistance rather easily."

"I believe you are right," he said.

Stepping down from the bed, he planted a kiss on Dora’s forehead and said, "If the maids or anyone else comes, let Zaelyane do the talking."

She nodded.

Rion walked to the door, opened it and mumbled, "Yuura, let’s go."

Yuura followed behind him with a dull expression.
