Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start-Chapter 214: Unknown Adventurer Climbing an Impossible Cliff
Calvus’s eyes sparkled as he slipped his hand into the right pocket of his dark blue pants and took a small vial that was filled with a gleaming green liquid.
Jamie stared at the vial and mumbled, "A potion?"
"According to what I have read about the yellowspint, it has a faint creamy aroma... by rubbing this three-star potion onto my nose, I will enhance my sense of smell and find that herb."
"Oh..." Jamie’s lips parted, and he questioned, "But how would that help...? Even if the young master’s sense of smell is enhanced, won’t all the smells still be equal?"
"Usually that would have been a problem, but yellowspint’s aroma is naturally different from any of the smells a forest can produce, so even though it’s not supposed to change anything, I would easily find it," Calvus explained with a child-like glimmer in his eyes.
Seeing that, A faint smile creased Jamie’s lips, and he mumbled with a nod, "I hope everything goes according to the young master’s will."
Rion, who was listening to them, smirked.
Dora immediately caught it and asked, "What do you plan to do?"
A mischievous glint passed through his eyes, and he mumbled, "Don’t worry about it."
All of them stared at him with a deadpan expression.
His hand moved to his leather pouch, he opened it, and once his hand was inside the pouch, he took out the yellowspint that Calvus needed to gain a favour from Marquis Rayfield from his inventory.
’Even though I want to be the one to give it to the Marquis... the marquis won’t just meet anyone. It would be much better for me to befriend Calvus and learn more about the current state of the world.’
’And he had also said that his father has a tight grip on the politics so I don’t think it would be a loss...’
He sighed and mumbled inwardly, ’Heh. What else can I even do? Beggars can’t be choosers.’
After finishing his thoughts, he lifted the yellowspint before his face and mumbled, "We have to befriend that teenage boy, and fortunately, he needs this herb, so it would be easy for us... what we need to do is make sure that they don’t feel frightened by us."
His gaze shifted to Yuura, who was already gripping the handles of his daggers and repeated, "We have to make sure that they don’t feel frightened by us."
Yuura groaned, his hands moved away from the daggers, and Rion said, "You all stay here..."
All of them frowned. Dora’s hand shot towards him, but before they knew it, he was gone.
Her hand fell, she bit her lower lip and mumbled with a lowered head, "We are just being baggage to him."
Rion, who was already dashing throughout the base in search of a perfect location to plant the herb, heard her.
He frowned and replied using Mental Whisper, <Dora, you are looking too much into it. This doesn’t require more than one person, and as I am the fastest of all of us, I am best suited for this.>
Dora fell silent for a few moments, and once she calmed her emotions, she replied, <I understand.>
Just as her words reached him, he found a sharp cliff that would be impossible to climb for the knights and Calvus.
He stopped before it and stared at it with a wide grin.
He jumped from one spot to another and easily climbed the cliff that would’ve been impossible to climb even for Yuura.
After climbing it, he planted the herb at a spot that would be hard to get to from both the bottom and the top.
He stayed beside the herb and checked everything with his Zone.
Calvus had just reached the base of the mountains, and the sun was already nearing evening, so what he needed to do was to wait for the dusk.
Just as Calvus had explained to Jamie, he took out the potion and rubbed it onto his nose.
As he did so, he scrunched his nose and instantly covered it with his hand.
"Are you fine, young master?" Asked one of the knights.
Calvus nodded and said, "I am fine, Sir Salis."
Salis looked at Jamie from the corner of his eye, and Jamie simply waved his handkerchief in defeat.
Sighing, he roared, "We only have about two hours! Make sure no danger befalls young master Calvus!"
"Let us begin the search," Calvus announced as he finally adjusted to the enhanced smells and began his search.
As Rion was a bit deep into the forest, the knights would naturally not come near him, but as he had the yellowspint whose aroma he was currently blocking with his aura, he could indirectly make Calvus force them to come to him, and once they did that, his plan would finally enter its final stage.
For the next two hours, Calvus and the knights continued the search and just as the sun neared the horizon, Jamie mumbled, "Young master, the dusk is already here — if we don’t leave now, we won’t reach before the dinnertime..."
All of a sudden, his expression darkened, and he whispered while trembling, "And if Master found out about this, he would put you into a solitary chamber!"
Calvus didn’t say anything... he had gone against his father’s words to prove himself, but the result of his defiance and pride was nothing... he had simply wasted everyone’s time for his own personal reasons.
He clenched his fists. Taking a deep breath, he mumbled, "Let’s return—"
However, suddenly, his eyes widened, and he began to sprint forward.
The knights and Jamie exchanged confused looks, and Jamie shouted, "Young master! Why are you being so careless?!"
"FOLLOW ME!" Calvus shouted at the top of his lungs, a wide grin stretched across his face.
The knights who were in heavy plated armour were still able to keep up with him, and after a few minutes, they stood before the cliff.
"What the fuck...?" Calvus mumbled with a dumbstruck expression, and the knights were the same.
A few minutes later, Jamie also reached the place, and seeing that all of them were staring at the sharp cliff, his gaze also moved towards it, and a man who had the attire of an adventurer fell into his vision...
"How is he climbing that cliff...?" He questioned himself.
Just as those words left his lips, the man’s right foot slipped out of the foothold.
Everyone’s eyes widened in horror, but the man was determined to get the herb... so, groaning under the unimaginable levels of strain and pain, he used all of his will to climb up.
