Trials of the Abyss-Chapter 568: Yang Luos True Body
Chapter 568: Yang Luo's True Body
Dong Tianze had anticipated an encounter with Pang Jian's golden bees in the bizarre mist, but he had not expected it to happen so quickly.
A golden bee appeared as soon as he entered the bizarre mist, which only confirmed that Pang Jian had bees constantly monitoring its perimeter.
Though startled, Dong Tianze quickly composed himself.
"Where's Pang Jian?" he asked, ignoring the Bee Sovereign's mention of urgent news.
The Bee Sovereign scrutinized this strange individual through the golden bee, puzzled at the sword embedded in Dong Tianze's body.
The sword's hilt protruded from the back of his neck, making it look as though he was carrying it on his back, beneath his clothing. Despite appearances, the Bee Sovereign knew that the blade of the sword was actually impaled in Dong Tianze's body, piercing his heart.
An ordinary person would have died from such an injury, but Dong Tianze seemed unfazed.
Master's friends are truly...fearsome aberrations.
"After ascending as an Immortal Realm God, he used his extraordinary Immortal Divine Soul to leave the Abyss and venture into a world known as the Shadow Abyss," the Bee Sovereign replied.
Dong Tianze's eyes gleamed with interest. "Continue."
"Before leaving, he tasked me with investigating the connections between this world and the outside world," the Bee Sovereign explained. "I discovered six unique rifts in the boundary wall.
"Foreign races from the outer worlds below the Rank Nine can enter through these rifts. The Abyss appears to be gradually weakening its restrictions, and in the future, even Rank Nine foreign races could pass through."
The Bee Sovereign hoped Dong Tianze would return to inform the higher-ups of this looming threat. This matter concerned the survival of the human race in the Abyss, and the Bee Sovereign dared not take it lightly.
Dong Tianze's expression was apathetic as he responded, "The survival of the human race in the Abyss has nothing to do with me. If Pang Jian is exploring the outer worlds, we can just wait for his return. I don't care about anybody else or whether the Abyss is destroyed."
His calm, emotionless tone told the Bee Sovereign that the man truly meant what he said. Dong Tianze truly did not care about the survival of the human race in the Abyss.
He's a monster. No, a madman, the Bee Sovereign concluded.
"Absolute Heaven I oversee is still within this sea of bizarre mist. Too many intruding foreign races would endanger my beehive."
Dong Tianze raised an eyebrow. After a moment of thought, he asked, "And you're certain that only foreign races below Rank Nine can pass through these rifts for now?"
The Bee Sovereign nodded. "I'm positive, though I don't know if that will change in the future."
"I don't care about the future," Dong Tianze said, licking his lips with a menacing red glint in his eyes. "Keep an eye on those rifts. If foreign races come through, let me know their exact location. Let those below Rank Nine come. I'll just kill them all."
Reaching back, he patted the hilt of the Bloodthirsty Sword protruding from his neck, feeling the sword soul's frenzied excitement.
"I'm more than enough to guard this place." He bared his teeth in a grin, madness on full display.
There was no longer any place for Dong Tianze in the Abyss. Most human sects viewed him as a fallen heretic, a demonic outlaw, and the foreign races would never tolerate him either unless he truly defected to them.
He was now in the early stages of bonding with the Bloodthirsty Sword, causing him to crave bloodshed like never before. There was no better hiding place for him than the bizarre mist concealing Absolute Heaven. Outer world invaders would only benefit him.
Dong Tianze could hardly contain his exhilaration. "Heaven is truly helping me!"
"So you intend to guard this sea of bizarre mist alone?" the Bee Sovereign confirmed.
"With this sword, I can fight even Rank Nine foreign race warriors. Even Rank Eight warriors like Xuan Ying from the Demon Scale Race wouldn't stand a chance." Dong Tianze tapped his chest, and the Bloodthirsty Sword embedded within him let out a faint hum in response.
Boom!
An overwhelming wave of blood essence erupted from Dong Tianze like a crimson tide, carrying sharp sword lights that radiated ferocity.
"Very well!" the Bee Sovereign agreed. "I'll guide you to your opponents. In return, I want a portion of the souls of the foreign races you slay."
"Deal."

In the bizarre mist outside the Abyss, a fleet of jet-black flying vessels hovered near one of the rifts in the boundary wall. Six poles bearing flags with grotesque ghostly images fluttered along the edges of each ship.
The true body of You Kui, an Outer God of the Ghost Race, stood aboard the leading vessel, hunched over in a pitch-black cloak.
Although he retained the dark cloak and hunched posture of his puppet vessel, he no longer projected a towering divine form. Unlike before, he even revealed the eerily handsome visage beneath his hood.
The destruction of his puppet vessel in the Abyss did not appear to have affected his true body.
"Find out how many other rifts there are in the boundary wall and determine the bloodline rank restrictions for each," You Kui commanded with a wave of his hand.
A flying vessel of Ghost Race warriors descended toward the boundary wall, passing through without resistance.
Whoosh!
Green flames erupted at the edge of the boundary wall as the soul of a Rank Nine Ghost Race warrior was obliterated.
A disobedient Rank Nine warrior had been used to test the restrictions of rifts in the boundary wall.
"Those in Rank Nine still cannot pass," You Kui observed coldly, watching the ghostly soul of his devout follower dissipate. "She's the high-ranking God of our Ghost Race, but your initial faith was placed in me.
"You cannot bypass me to communicate with her directly. All within my domain need to remember that I'm your protector, not her."
You Kui waited silently for news to return.
After some time, You Kui sensed a will spying on him from the shadows.
Transforming into his ten-thousand-zhang-tall divine body, he stood upon a sea of departed souls, readying himself for battle.
However, the will unexpectedly vanished without a trace.
Who could it be? he wondered. Pang Jian? Or another True God of the human race?

At another rift, the colossal Star Devourer pressed its limbs against the boundary wall, exploring while also spreading its senses outward.
It was then that he perceived You Kui of the Ghost Race.
When You Kui noticed it, the Star Devourer panicked. Not daring to linger, it fled headlong into the bizarre mist once more.
The two Outer Gods tracking it in the bizarre mist adjusted their trajectory.

In the Shadow Abyss, Pang Jian's physical body held the Gate of the Abyss, recalling how his Immortal Divine Soul had entered the bizarre mist through the bronze pendant back in Imperial Dominion City.
His physical body and the bronze pendant had served as coordinates for his Immortal Divine Soul, allowing him to open the "gate" and pass through.
It worked in the Abyss, so perhaps it'll work in the Shadow Abyss too?
He resolved to give it a try.
Whoosh!
Pang Jian's Immortal Divine Soul left his sea of consciousness and exited through the nearby boundary wall with the Abyssal Demon Sword in hand.
In the bizarre mist, Pang Jian found that his Immortal Divine Soul could maintain a connection with his physical body through the Gate of the Abyss.
With a thought, a narrow spatial rift appeared.
The rift led directly back to the Shadow Abyss!
The security of being able to return to his physical body through the Gate of the Abyss meant his Immortal Divine Soul could now freely roam the bizarre mist. Unless a vastly stronger Outer God restrained or killed him instantly, he could always retreat to the Shadow Abyss if necessary.
I can boldly explore the bizarre mist now. If danger arises, I'll just retreat to the Shadow Abyss.
With that comfort in mind, Pang Jian soared through the bizarre mist, scanning his surroundings using his divine sense.
Abyssal Demon... Pang Jian called out mentally, but the Abyssal Demon within the Abyssal Demon Sword did not respond.
Glancing inside the sword, Pang Jian saw the shrunken Abyssal Demon sitting solemnly within the greenish-black demonic orb. Demonic light swirled around him as though baptizing him in enlightenment.
The outpouring of hatred from the inhabitants of the Shadow Abyss and the absorption of the Star Devourer's severed limb had enabled the Abyssal Demon to undergo transcendence on a fundamental level.
Pang Jian nodded approvingly. At least the trip back to the Shadow Abyss wasn't entirely fruitless.
The Abyssal Demon's strength was reflected in the Abyssal Demon Sword. This, in turn, would allow Pang Jian's combat prowess to grow accordingly.
This sword could channel the energies within Pang Jian and was perfectly attuned to his Immortal Divine Soul. Wielding the sword, he was confident he could single-handedly take down the Star Devourer or even face low-ranking Outer Gods.
"Pang Jian."
A voice suddenly echoed from thousands of li away.
"It's really you."

The voice was closer now, only a hundred li in the distance.
"I'm curious, how did you escape from the Abyss?"
A familiar Outer God hovered before Pang Jian.
It was Yang Luo, with her massive spider body and flawless human face.
Unlike in the Abyss, she hovered before him in her true body.
Her spider legs lightly stirred the bizarre mist, dissipating it outward to create a vacuum free of the gray mist.
"No other Outer God will detect you here. Answer my questions properly, and I will grant you a quick death," Yang Luo said haughtily, looking down at Pang Jian with disdainful eyes. "What exactly is your relationship with the Great One?"
