Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 112: The Gift of a New Owner
Chapter 112: Chapter 112: The Gift of a New Owner
Ji Rui originally thought that Le Tong gave him these coffees simply because he liked drinking coffee, and so his heart was warmed by Le Tong’s thoughtful gesture. But when he heard her detailed explanation, his face involuntarily turned cold.
Along with his face, his heart grew cold too.
"This coffee is too expensive, I don’t want it!"
Ji Rui didn’t extend his hand to take the gift box, instead he coldly rejected Le Tong’s heartfelt gesture.
He never helped her with the intention of receiving gifts in return.
Although he would have liked to accept this box of coffee, thinking about the materialistic implications behind it made him unable to take it easily.
Presumably, the taste would also be diminished.
Le Tong seemed taken aback by his refusal, staring at him incredulously for a moment before lowering her eyes, no longer looking at him, lost in her thoughts.
Ji Rui saw Le Tong biting her lips and assumed she was worried about the money spent on the coffee.
"You spent quite a bit on these coffee beans, right? How much? I’ll pay you back and it’ll be like I bought the coffee myself!"
Le Tong suddenly lifted her eyelids, glared at him fiercely, and then grabbed the gift box from the table, turned around, and quickly walked out.
She must be an idiot to continuously put her sincerity and feelings before Ji the Bastard, letting him trample and insult them!
This box of coffee was clearly an expression of her gratitude, but he thought money could compensate for it.
Sure enough, Ji Rui is a man with no heart!
In his eyes, there’s only money! Anything or anyone, even feelings, are seen as commodities that can be measured in money!
Le Tong fumed with anger, hugging the gift box as she returned to her seat. Just as she was about to put the box in her drawer, someone came walking from the elevator.
That person was none other than Yang Sheng.
"Hey, Junior Sister, did President Ji give you a raise again?"
Confused, Le Tong looked up at Yang Sheng, who had already walked up to her.
"That coffee must be expensive, right? How generous of you to treat your Senior Brother to some?"
Le Tong was not stingy by nature but was quite frugal, rarely spending money recklessly.
"Senior Brother, don’t make it sound like I’m stingy normally!"
Le Tong rolled her eyes at him and lowered her head, wishing to work. Right now, she had no mood to deal with his teasing.
"Tut, are you mad?"
Yang Sheng sat on the corner of the table, reached out, and patted Le Tong’s head.
Le Tong ignored him and continued browsing her documents.
Feeling a bit disappointed, Yang Sheng glanced around and spotted the elegantly wrapped gift box on her desk, beginning to recognize the cause of her bad mood.
"Who is bold enough to covet my little Junior Sister?"
After being hit twice by Ji Rui’s actions today, Le Tong’s mind seemed to drift away. She looked up at Yang Sheng confusedly and frowned.
"Senior Brother, what kind of nonsense are you spouting?"
Yang Sheng pointed to the gift box in front of her, "Tongtong, you have no witness but the material evidence is intact; how can you deny it?"
Le Tong’s gaze followed his finger to the gift box and her mood soured again!
"What material evidence? I bought this myself, where are you getting these ideas from?"
Le Tong gave an indignant look to Yang Sheng, as the cold face of President Ji resurfaced in her mind, making her teeth clench in anger, wishing she could tear President Ji apart!
Yang Sheng laughed out loud as if he had heard a wonderful joke, "Junior Sister, what has sparked you to spend money on your own gifts?"
Sometimes Le Tong couldn’t stand Yang Sheng’s persistence, "Senior Brother, I’m so provoked by you that I’m tempted to buy another gift for myself!"
Yang Sheng shrugged, unaffected by her teasing, "Alright, it’s a gift for yourself. Can you tell me what’s inside?"
Evidently, Yang Sheng didn’t believe Le Tong’s words.
"Coffee beans, just like the coffee you had earlier." Le Tong was getting impatient, her eyes grew agitated as she stared at the gift box.
Suddenly reaching out, she grabbed the gift box and shoved it into Yang Sheng’s arms, saying decisively.
"Senior Brother, this coffee is yours!" Her action was simply out of sight, out of mind, to avoid thinking of Ji the Bastard’s detestable face when looking at the box.
"Eh?!"
Yang Sheng stared at her in shock, assuming she was upset with him and said this out of spite.
"Tongtong, I didn’t mean it that way..." Yang Sheng hurriedly tried to clarify his intentions.
Le Tong glanced at him, seemingly understanding his thoughts beyond words.
"Senior Brother, you know I don’t like coffee. Initially, I bought it to give to a friend, but when I did, he said he’d quit coffee, so I had to take it back. If you like it, take it; it saves me the trouble of it being around bother me!"
Yang Sheng seriously examined Le Tong, probing the credibility of her words.
Under Yang Sheng’s scrutiny, Le Tong became even more annoyed, snatching the gift box from his arms, "If you don’t want it, fine, I’ll just throw it in the trash!"
What is wrong with the men in this world, all being pretentiously hypocritical! Just say whether you want it or not, can’t be straightforward?
Like Ji Rui, who clearly didn’t want it yet said he would buy it with money, what’s the meaning of that? Is he pitying poor Le Tong unable to pay for the coffee?
And Yang Sheng too, usually seeming like a frank guy, now acting all fussy?
"Hey!! Tongtong, why are you like this, I want it! I want it! Junior Sister, please, give it to me!"
Finally, under Yang Sheng’s dual tactics of apologizing and coaxing, Le Tong handed the gift box back to Yang Sheng.
After work, Yang Sheng, who hadn’t driven there, rode with Ji Rui to leave.
Ji Rui immediately saw the familiar gift box beside Yang Sheng, and his face turned sour instantly.
"Yang Sheng, about that coffee..."
Yang Sheng looked at him in surprise, "Oh, how did you know it’s coffee?"
Ji Rui didn’t answer him, instead persistently pursued, "Where did it come from?"
"Tongtong gave it to me! She said she originally bought it to give to a friend, but the friend quit coffee, and she doesn’t like it, so she gave it to me."
Yang Sheng was unaware that the friend Le Tong referred to was the very president before him, otherwise, he might have phrased it more harshly!
"Weren’t you bothered to receive something unwanted and passed onto you?" Ji Rui’s face suddenly turned sullen.
Yang Sheng shrugged, "Not at all, this is good stuff!"
Yang Sheng didn’t mind, but Ji Rui certainly did!
Even if these coffee beans were something he didn’t want, Le Tong giving them to Yang Sheng still put him in a foul mood!
Why was it that what was originally intended for him, Ji Rui, was suddenly transferred and handed over to Yang Sheng?
Le Tong, your expression of gratitude is really too cheap!
