Traveler of the River of Time and Space-Chapter 423 - 37: Fire of Sin
Boom.
A mass of burning flames scattered outwards.
An astonishing fracture appeared at the position before the crowd, and a cobweb-like crack spread across the sturdy marble floor. The redwood seats were also lifted and shattered into a pile of wooden debris by the air wave.
"Watch out!"
"There’s something strange about this guy’s sword!" Su Ziyu said with a rather grave expression.
Unlike the enemies encountered before, Shalivan the Pope’s weapon was imbued with a terrifying corrosive power. The moment the flame touched Su Ziyu’s skin, it began to burn like a bone-devouring curse. However, it had no effect on the surrounding environment. The flying wood fragments were completely untouched, as if the bizarre flame would only target flesh.
Su Ziyu had seen a similar flame before, which was Qing Ji’s Fire of the Seven Emotions.
It was also a flame that burns flesh, but the Fire of Sin wielded by Shalivan targeted living beings even more specifically, as if it would only incinerate a person’s flesh shell.
"Watch out for the Fire of Sin!"
Sister Fried’s figure darted out, disappearing momentarily, and when she reappeared, she was behind Shalivan the Pope. Raising a second small glowing scythe, icy spikes emerged from the ground, breaking the enemy’s assault and gaining some evasive time for the Onion Knight at the forefront.
But the enemy’s attack did not completely stop. With a gentle swing of the dark longsword in Shalivan’s left hand, a shadow bolted out, accompanied by a twisted wisp of soul, directly targeting Su Ziyu.
This enemy was adept at dual-weapon combat.
Boom.
A roll of thunder echoed inside the vast hall. Su Ziyu instantly activated the Spiritual Protection Field, then raised his hand and hurled a thunder spear forward.
The figure of Shalivan was abruptly knocked back several steps.
He remained in place, his hollow eyes observing the three dispersed figures before him, seemingly retaining a substantial fighting consciousness. With a swirl of twisted shadow, branch-like wings stretched out from behind Shalivan, and then another Shalivan gradually took form in the virtual image, also holding two weapons in both hands.
—"Shalivan the Pope! [Corruption] [Pollution] [Fire of Sin] [Child of the Tree Demon]"
—"The Pope’s Illusion! [True Mirror Image]"
What the hell?
What magic is this?
A double image!?
While Shalivan’s figure remained stationary, the illusion he summoned leapt skyward, scorching flames trailing, heading directly for the greatest threat, Su Ziyu.
Clang.
Su Ziyu’s figure skated seven or eight meters backward, leaving a clear crack on the ground. The summoned illusion wielded power almost identical to Shalivan’s, and the heavy strike forced Su Ziyu back. Even successfully parrying it resulted in significant injury, feeling as though punched in the chest and abdomen, leaving his breath disordered.
Bang.
After landing a strike, the Pope’s illusion burst into a cloud of blackish-purple mist in midair, only for the image to reappear beside Shalivan, while his true form remained motionless, sword in hand.
Was only one capable of movement?
Su Ziyu exchanged a glance with Sister Fried beside him. His body leapt into the air, a thunder spear forming in his palm, hurled at Shalivan before him. Meanwhile, Sister Fried ran vertically along the wall, swinging her giant scythe in a sweeping arc of black flame from above as she circled behind the enemy.
Clang!
The Pope’s illusion once again lunged forward, shielding the thunder spear with its body, appearing slightly dispersed, suggesting it could indeed be destroyed.
At this moment, Shalivan’s true form abruptly turned and swung the Sinful Greatsword!
"Not good!"
"It’s a trap! He’s deceiving us!" Su Ziyu exclaimed as his body landed, pupils constricting slightly.
Not far away.
With an explosion of flames, Sister Fried’s body was sent flying, witnessing Shalivan’s true form reverse grip and deliver a strike. The fearsome force and rampaging Fire of Sin sent Sister Fried’s petite body hurtling over ten meters, crashing into the hard wall.
When it all began, Shalivan’s true form remained immobile.
Su Ziyu and Sister Fried believed he could only control one at a time, but they hadn’t expected him to deliberately lure them into action.
This guy remained so cunning even as a living corpse!
Unimaginable.
If he still possessed normal intelligence, what a formidable person he would be to deal with.
Having landed a blow.
Shalivan no longer concealed his strength. His true form and illusion moved simultaneously, swinging the heavy Sinful Greatsword on both sides, aiming at Su Ziyu and the Onion Knight.
Not far away, after sustaining injuries, Sister Fried’s figure instantly vanished, likely entering a temporary state of invisibility.
Flames rampaged!
The dual Sinful Greatswords nearly covered half the grand hall, with the Pope’s illusion forcing back the Onion Knight with consecutive strikes, while his true form darted straight at Su Ziyu. A brilliant flame shot past, followed by a piercing dark light. Shalivan seemed specifically trained in dual-weapon combat techniques, his swordsmanship undoubtedly at a master level. Even having turned into a living corpse, fighting purely on instinct left no respite for Su Ziyu.
