Trash Prince and Ice Queen 10th Re - Life-Chapter 155: The Meeting of the Two Kings
Two days passed, and Ard, Eva, Hardim, Kresus, and Vogir headed to the front lines to meet with Murmic and Bharlel, who were stationed there. When they arrived, Murmic was already waiting inside the command tent alongside Bharlel; his face looked restless, and his cheeks appeared flushed even beneath his thick beard. Seeing Vogir enter with Ard, Eva, and Hardim, Murmic and Bharlel immediately stood to receive them.
"Welcome, Your Majesty, King of the Tartagia Kingdom," Bharlel greeted.
"Hmph... take a seat, Vogir," Murmic added gruffly.
"You’re still as prickly as ever, Murmic. It’s not good for your health," Vogir countered as he sat in a large chair specifically provided for him.
"Shut it. Don’t worry about my health," Murmic snapped back, sitting down and folding his arms across his chest.
Ard and Eva immediately sat in the middle together, between the two parties. Meanwhile, Hardim sat next to Murmic and Kresus beside Vogir. After everyone was seated, the atmosphere inside the tent became silent, tense, and stiff. The long-standing hostility between the dwarf and giant races truly filled the room, making the air so thick it could be cut with a knife, and making peace seem almost impossible. Ard stood up to open the conversation.
"Your Majesty King Murmic, do you understand the current situation and what actually happened after it was explained in the letter?" Ard asked.
"Yes, otherwise, I wouldn’t have agreed to meet that bald head over there," Murmic answered, pointing at Vogir.
"Hey... hey, don’t provoke me, short-legs," Vogir shot back while leaning back and crossing his legs casually.
The silence returned, but this time Murmic stared at Vogir sharply and vice versa; war could break out at any moment. However, before the atmosphere could get any worse, "bam," everyone turned to see Hardim standing up and slamming his hand on the table. Hardim turned to look at Murmic.
"Brother... we are here to find peace. If you’re going to be grumpy and annoying like this, we won’t achieve a single thing. Do you understand or not? You’re the King—control yourself," Hardim shouted in frustration.
"Aaah... shut up and sit down. Fine... fine... I won’t be annoying anymore," Murmic replied irritably, looking just like a sulking child.
"Good. Now, let us talk," Vogir said with a smile.
Then everyone turned to look at Ard and Eva, and the two immediately began the meeting. Their goal was to bring the two kings together so that peace between the two kingdoms could be achieved, reasoning that their hostility could be exploited by certain parties with their own agendas. They both recounted everything that had happened in the kingdom of giants, what was occurring on the surface, and the identity of the true enemy that had surprisingly reached Le Rein Infernal from the world above.
Additionally, they provided the insight that if the two kingdoms united, they would be far stronger in facing outside attacks and could bolster their economies, based on their experiences on the surface and throughout nine repeating lives. Naturally, Vogir and Murmic listened intently, though they occasionally glanced at each other with expressions that seemed to ask, "peace with him, huh?"
After that, Ard and Eva also mentioned that Prince Elmer was still alive and safe in the Tartagia Kingdom, which was confirmed by Vogir, who had indeed seen Elmer at Kresus’s house along with his daughter. Murmic went silent for a moment, but then he asked:
"Then... is it true the Githiess egg is missing, as the letter said? All this time, I thought that egg was in the Tartagia Kingdom," Murmic said.
"That’s right. As for the egg, unfortunately, only Prince Elmer and Princess Grethia likely know where it is located," Ard replied.
"We have to wait for them to wake up before we can ask them. Right now, all we can do is wait until they wake up on their own. We have checked their bodies; there are no injuries, and they are doing just fine," Eva added.
"Technically, Prince Elmer did bring the egg to my kingdom fifty years ago. I saw it with my own two eyes, but after that, the egg vanished and hasn’t been seen since, along with Prince Elmer and my daughter," Vogir said, sharing his version of events.
"Hmm... so that’s how it is. My daughter Lugerna also once sent a letter saying she was going to look for her brother and the Githiess egg, but I haven’t heard a word from her since... is she in the Tartagia Kingdom as well?" Murmic asked.
"She is not in my kingdom, I can guarantee you that," Vogir answered.
"His Majesty King Vogir is right, Your Majesty King Murmic. When we found Prince Elmer and Princess Grethia, we didn’t see Princess Lugerna at all," Ard added.
"For now, Ard and I ask that the two kingdoms stop their warring and work together. It’s clear that both kingdoms consider the Githiess egg their treasure and relic, a legacy of the goddess Githiess. The enemy is on the surface, and if the surface is leveled, the war will spread to Le Rein Infernal—that is certain," Eva stated.
The atmosphere inside the tent fell silent again, but this time it wasn’t suffocating; it felt peaceful. Finally, Vogir stood up and leaned his body forward, extending one of his hands toward Murmic. Seeing Vogir’s hand before him, Murmic looked at Vogir’s face, which held no smile. However, from his firm gaze, it was clear he was serious, and it was also evident he wanted peace because his eyes looked weary of battle.
Seeing Vogir make the first move, Murmic finally stood up, his gaze never leaving Vogir’s. Then he raised his hand and shook Vogir’s hand to end the conflict between the two races and two kingdoms that had lasted for nearly 500 years. Ard and Eva, watching the exchange, felt an immense sense of relief; they looked at each other, their eyes saying "we did it."
Then, the treaty was drawn up. Bharlel drafted the agreement alongside Kresus, acting as witnesses who recorded every conversation between their two kings. They discussed the points of peace—from what must be done to what must be avoided—under the guidance of Ard and Eva, who were indeed a prince and princess from two great kingdoms on the surface, bolstered by their experiences across nine lifetimes.
After the peace treaty was drafted, Vogir and Murmic signed it and stamped it with their royal seals, making the document official. Once the signing was complete, the two kings began discussing cooperation between their kingdoms—details like the giants providing their energy technology and the dwarves offering the advanced mechanics that made their lives easier.
While the two kings discussed these matters seriously and with apparent excitement, undisturbed by Ard and Eva who simply listened to the conversation, suddenly—"shrrrp"—the tent curtain was pulled open. Thorena, Lesnar, and Irina entered, escorted by two dwarf guards. They were panting, and their faces looked haggard from sheer exhaustion. Seeing the state of Lesnar, Thorena, and Irina, everyone immediately stood up to face them, including Ard and Eva. Hardim quickly approached Thorena.
"What is it, Thorena?" Hardim asked.
"Un...Uncle...brother Elmer... is awake," Thorena answered breathlessly.
"It’s true, Princess Grethia is also awake, but their condition is still weak and it would be impossible to bring them here. That is why I, Princess Thorena, and Irina came here to inform you all in person," Lesnar added, his words orderly despite his fatigue.
"Is that true, Irina?" Ard asked.
"It is. Right now, Alicia, Milia, Mirea, Beatrice and Adeline are checking their condition and letting them rest. Claudia, Rosalind, Pyria, Ainsley, Geoffrey, and Irwin are guarding them to keep them safe," Irina confirmed firmly.
Hearing the confirmation from Irina, the faces of Ard, Eva, Murmic, and Vogir instantly brightened, as did those of Hardim, Bharlel, and Kresus. Beyond their joy at hearing that Elmer and Grethia were awake, they also realized they could now learn exactly what had happened 50 years ago directly from the source. Murmic turned to look at Vogir, who immediately met his gaze in return.
"Excellent. How about you invite me to your kingdom, bald head? I’ll provide an airship so we can get there quickly," Murmic said to Vogir.
"I accept your offer, short-legs," Vogir replied.
The two immediately shook hands again, smiles gracing their faces. After that, they all exited the room to head toward a hangar where the royal family’s zeppelin was kept, carrying the signed peace treaty with them. Upon arrival, Murmic immediately ordered his men to prepare the airship so they could depart for the Tartagia Kingdom without delay.
Ard and Eva looked up, seeing the King’s airship, which appeared twice as large as the normal zeppelin airships they had seen. Parts of the vessel looked like a seafaring ship, covered in gold metal so that it appeared magnificent and truly showcased the immense wealth of the Grimgrath Kingdom.
"Wow... this ship is clearly more advanced and luxurious than anything we’ve ever seen; it might even be more lavish than the ones back on Earth," Ard muttered, whispering to Eva.
"Yep... you’re right about that. But didn’t you say we shouldn’t talk about Earth anymore?" Eva whispered back.
"Whatever, let’s not get into it," Ard answered in a whisper.
