Transmigration: Space-Aided Rise to Power and Prosperity-Chapter 843 - 679: Put Him on the Bed
Yi Lanshan watched the back of his second brother, forcibly suppressing the compassion in his heart, and turned back to the main room.
Gu Chengyu was being helped by Lu Chen, staggering left and right, while a servant nearby wanted to lend a hand but was rejected by Lu Chen.
"I see Mr. Gu is so drunk he’s almost unconscious. How about I go get a sedan chair? It would be easier for you."
The nearby servant looked at Mr. Gu’s personal attendant and couldn’t help but admire inwardly.
This Mr. Gu is handsome, and I didn’t expect even his followers to be so good-looking. Look at that delicate skin!
It’s good to be a follower of a senior official! They definitely eat and drink well, and their monthly salary is much higher than mine.
Lu Chen didn’t know what this servant was thinking. He knew Gu Chengyu wasn’t drunk at all, so he didn’t want to make a fuss.
"No need to trouble yourself, lad. We should be almost there, right? I’ll hold on a little longer."
Lu Chen moved Gu Chengyu’s body a bit closer to himself, placing one of Gu Chengyu’s arms over his shoulder, grumbling inwardly.
This Gu Chengyu looks frail, but the weight pressing on him was not light. He thought Gu Chengyu did it on purpose; otherwise, how could he be so heavy?
Lu Chen glanced a few times at Gu Chengyu’s slender figure, causing Gu Chengyu to roll his eyes secretly several times.
"We’ve arrived! This is Tianfang Courtyard." The servant led them to a finely crafted courtyard and let Lu Chen and Gu Chengyu in.
"Thank you for your trouble, lad! Just send us here, and I’ll help Mr. Gu inside."
Lu Chen looked around the courtyard and only then realized that Ming Mo and Ming Yan hadn’t shown up until now. This was unusual!
The two were Gu Chengyu’s close followers and wouldn’t be away from Gu Chengyu for long. Besides, this was the Yi Mansion, so they wouldn’t run off on their own.
Lu Chen squinted his eyes, pondering. Could it be that the Yi Family was brazen enough to capture Ming Mo and the others?
And then they get Gu Chengyu drunk? There must be some intention behind it.
"No hurry, I’ll stay and help you take Mr. Gu inside." The servant said, walking into the house after hearing Lu Chen’s words.
The two helped Gu Chengyu into the house, and Lu Chen glanced around the room. The furnishings were quite ordinary, without even a single precious object.
For Lu Chen, a noble son, this felt a bit shabby.
Even if the Yi Family was declining, the receiving room shouldn’t be this simple, unless it wasn’t a room used for guests.
He looked at the antiquities shelf and the bed, the items on top seemed to have been placed just recently, suggesting this place wasn’t a guest room.
After helping Gu Chengyu lie down on the bed and covering him with the quilt, Lu Chen looked at the servant still in the room.
He found it very strange, were all Yi Mansion’s servants this enthusiastic?
Little did he know, the servant was also feeling very puzzled! The followers of this lord are truly lazy!
Seeing their master drunk, and yet not fetching a basin of water to wipe for him or preparing any hangover soup.
However, he remembered his lord’s instructions, so he smiled and said, "Brother! You see, your master has already rested, and you haven’t had your lunch yet. Why not come with me to have some food?"
Hearing this, Lu Chen scanned the servant with an inquisitive gaze. He wanted to use this opportunity to scout the layout, but leaving Gu Chengyu alone here didn’t seem right.
Who knows what the Yi Family is planning? Ming Mo and Ming Yan are still missing, definitely indicating the Yi Mansion wants to execute some plan.
"I would indeed like to have some food, I am quite hungry now! But my master is unattended, can you tell me where the other two followers who came with me have gone? So I can have them attend to Mr. Gu!"
"Those two are also eating now! Eating doesn’t take much of an hour, and your master won’t wake up any time soon. Don’t worry too much, nothing will happen in our Yi Mansion, right?"
The servant waved his hand and began heading back, signaling for Lu Chen to follow.
Lu Chen took a look at Gu Chengyu and saw his eyes were already open, even giving him a nod.
Seeing Gu Chengyu’s clear eyes without a trace of drunkenness, Lu Chen finally felt at ease.
He needed to seize this chance to check out those heavily guarded areas and scout the layout.
He would return shortly after because otherwise, coming to the Yi Mansion today would be in vain.
The servant leading the way felt relieved only when Lu Chen followed.
He didn’t know why his master gave such an instruction, to send away this follower. But as a servant, it was not his place to question.
Gu Chengyu listened carefully to the sounds outside, and when everyone had left, he got up to examine the room.
He wondered if Ming Mo and the others had any findings, looking at the closed doors and windows, he thought acting during the day was indeed inconvenient.
It would be better to wait until night. Gu Chengyu figured that in his apparent drunken state, it would be best to sleep until night.
After receiving definite information from Ming Mo and the others, he planned to send Lu Chen away and take action personally.
Just when Gu Chengyu was thinking about his next move, sitting on the bed, he suddenly heard footsteps, indicating two people approaching.
He felt some uncertainty, could it be Ming Mo and the others? But these footsteps didn’t sound right; from the sound, they were not martial artists.
Gu Chengyu quickly lay back on the bed, covered himself with the quilt, and closed his eyes.
"Hurry up! If you dawdle, someone might discover us." A somewhat familiar voice reached Gu Chengyu’s ears.
This voice was clearly lowered, and Gu Chengyu recalled, wasn’t this Yi Lanwen, the second master of the Yi Family?
What were these two sneaky guys up to? Were they planning to kill him?
"Creak!" The door was gently opened, and footsteps came into the room.
"Quickly bring the person in!" Yi Lanwen’s voice sounded again, then another person was heard panting heavily as if carrying something heavy.
Gu Chengyu kept his eyes closed, and then heard someone approaching his bed. The person’s breathing was slightly heavy, seemingly standing not too far from his bed without getting too close.
His right hand gripped a dagger he had taken from his space, pondering what these two were doing. Should he reveal himself?
"Mr. Gu?" Yi Lanwen called softly, scrutinizing the expression on Gu Chengyu’s face.
Gu Chengyu relaxed internally; it seemed they weren’t here to kill him.
"Master, he’s drunk." A younger voice chimed in, likely Yi Lanwen’s follower.
"Rubbish, don’t you think I know he’s drunk? I’m just worried he’ll wake up. Quick, put the person on the bed!"
Yi Lanwen glared at the servant, whispering irritably.
"Yes, master!" Anren began grunting again, carrying the person closer to Gu Chengyu’s bed.
