Transmigration: On the Gossip Front-Chapter 959 - 960 Countryside Orphan Girl 4
Chapter 959: Chapter 960 Countryside Orphan Girl 4
The ministry leaders and Zhao Lei listened to Zhang Yu’s well-reasoned words and understood that the other party was not acting recklessly but had come fully prepared.
The secretary noticed the big shots were all silent, and his tone turned a little sour.
"You’ve said so much, what exactly do you want?" The secretary was very annoyed. The factory had made extensive preparations for the ministry leaders’ inspection.
No matter how much preparation had been made, it couldn’t withstand Zhang Yu’s commotion. The factory director was certainly facing trouble.
As soon as the secretary spoke, the big shots’ expressions immediately turned unpleasant. Was Zhang Yu’s behavior excessive? Sure, it was a bit over-the-top, but she had been pushed to this point.
If she truly wanted to cause trouble, she could go directly to GWH and sort all of this out in one fell swoop.
Zhao Lei wasn’t particularly pleased with the secretary, but since a former leader had recommended him, there was hope he could learn something while working under him.
"What do I want?" Zhang Yu snickered, calling him a fool outright. "What could I possibly want?"
"My dad died working for the mechanics factory, but the compensation money was taken by someone else, and his job was given away to a replacement."
"I’ve come to demand justice, but instead, I’m accused of being unreasonable and making a scene."
"What do I want? I want what belongs to my family to be returned to us!"
"You say the money was taken—then where did it go? Did the finance department of your mechanics factory embezzle it, or was it siphoned off by the leadership? Or was it divided up among others?"
"And my dad’s job—was it bought by the Liu Family? Did the labor division split the money with the leaders?"
"I want what’s rightfully mine, but now I’m framed as someone making unreasonable demands."
Initially, Zhang Yu didn’t want to make too big a fuss, but she hadn’t anticipated such an attitude from the other side.
"Zhao Lei, Director Zhao, you don’t have to talk anymore; I understand your stance."
"Your statement boils down to this: ’The money is gone, and my family agreed to let Liu Jianshe take the job.’"
"If the factory can’t stand up for me and my grandmother, I don’t believe there’s nowhere else we can go for justice."
"Grandma, let’s tough it out; we’ll go to the district office, we’ll go to the police station. If no one there handles this, someone somewhere will."
If possible, Zhang Yu didn’t want to deal with the people at GWH, but there was no other way; some people are simply asking for it.
Li Cui gave a hum of acknowledgment, then picked up her belongings and prepared to march straight to the district office.
The secretary had initially intended to calm Zhang Yu down, to keep her quiet and stop her from making further trouble. However, things unexpectedly spiraled out of control.
He couldn’t even imagine the fallout if Zhang Yu and her grandmother were to parade their protest signs publicly through the streets—where this mess might end.
Zhao Lei saw Zhang Yu’s actions and felt a sudden darkness grip his vision. If Zhang Yu really carried through with her threat, the consequences would be on him.
Of course, many others wouldn’t come out unscathed either. There was already talk from Girl Ha, who suspected collusion among some individuals who had embezzled the compensation money and sold the job.
"Zhang Yu, I’m the mechanics factory director, Zhao Lei. I promise to investigate this matter thoroughly."
"You promise? How do you intend to guarantee that—by stalling for time?"
"Or by waiting for the Liu Family to return home and then sending a crowd to harass my family?" Zhang Yu pressed even more aggressively.
"Don’t think I’m paranoid—it’s just that your attitudes and actions are utterly repulsive."
"Even in front of everyone, you still display this kind of behavior and demeanor." Zhang Yu halted her steps.
Zhao Lei glared fiercely at the secretary. "We will have an answer today."
"There will be absolutely no delay in this matter." Zhao Lei took a deep breath.
Zhang Yu turned to Li Cui. "Grandma, what do you think?"
"Then let’s see their answer," Li Cui paused mid-thought. "If they can’t handle it, we always have other options."
Zhao Lei knew full well that this was their way of putting pressure on him, but what could he do? After all, the reckless behavior of the people under him had forced this situation.
"Rest assured, the matter will be dealt with properly." If he could help it, Zhao Lei didn’t want to let things escalate further.
"Good, then. If your factory had handled this earlier, would we have had any need to come here today?" Li Cui retorted grumpily, following Zhao Lei and his group back into the factory.
The security department chief had been listening all along, recognizing that the issue at hand wasn’t going to be resolved easily.
At first, he was quite panicked, wondering how this matter would be managed. But now, he was calm—if there truly was a problem, a whole group of people would have more to lose than he did.
Liu Jianshe had already been working for several days. Parading around the factory grounds every day was something he truly wasn’t accustomed to. But he had no choice; he had to keep a low profile for now.
Once the scandal blew over, he could use his connections to secure a stationary post at the factory gate.
Liu Jianshe was pondering when to switch posts and thinking about raising his standards for matchmaking when he suddenly recognized some familiar faces ahead—wait, why were Zhang Yu and her family at the mechanics factory?
Liu Jianshe gulped repeatedly. Of course, he knew how his family had acquired his job, but he felt no guilt. Liu Hong didn’t have a son, so naturally, the job belonged to the Liu Family.
"Liu Jianshe, working as security at the mechanics factory now, huh?" Zhang Yu spotted Liu Jianshe and walked up to him.
"Oh, by the way, Director Zhao, this is the person who replaced my dad’s job—the estranged nephew."
"Why not ask him how the job was obtained? Since we’ve run into him, it makes no sense to let the Liu Family handle the questioning themselves, right?"
Zhao Lei, now deeply disgusted with everyone involved in the matter, said nothing and merely glanced over at the security chief.
The security chief jolted to attention, instinctively nervous. "Lock Liu Jianshe up and interrogate him about how he got his job."
"Right, and let’s not forget my dad’s compensation money. Didn’t you say it was taken by the Liu Family?" Zhang Yu said icily.
Liu Jianshe hadn’t expected this at all. They had actually come to pursue the matter of both his job and the compensation money. He was terrified.
Growing frantic, Liu Jianshe clung desperately to the hope that his family wouldn’t abandon him. "Zhang Yu, you..."
"My grandmother and I never signed anything approving you to replace my dad’s position."
"You can try standing your ground and insist we signed it—that’s fine. We can do a handwriting analysis."
"Besides, everyone knows about the bad blood between our two families. And after my dad passed away, look at how your family behaved."
"Each incident, each action—it’s all clear in the memory. Everyone knows what you did."
"If you want to keep insisting, then you should be ready to bear the consequences of your actions."
"At a minimum, this would land you five to six years in prison. Oh, and one more crucial detail: my dad was a martyr."
"So the charges would be even more severe, wouldn’t they, Director Zhao?" Zhang Yu then turned to Zhao Lei.
Helplessly, Zhao Lei nodded, "That’s correct—at least ten years."
What?! Ten years?! Liu Jianshe was stunned, utterly frozen in disbelief. If it were just Zhang Yu speaking, he could treat her words as empty threats by a brash young woman.
But now even the factory director had said the same—this clearly wasn’t a bluff. "It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me!"
"It was Grandpa and Grandma—they said it would be a waste to give the job to you and decided I should take it instead."
"It was my aunt and uncle who went to the factory personnel to negotiate. Aunt took the money, saying it had to be used to bribe the factory leadership. The job was given to our family because of that."
"When Second Uncle found out, he forced our family to fork over three hundred yuan."
"It really wasn’t me—it wasn’t me!"
Liu Jianshe burst into tears, spilling all the details of the truth.
