Transmigration: On the Gossip Front-Chapter 1867 - 1868: The Bystander Girl Intellectual Youth 10
Zhang Yu held the train ticket and saw that this time she was in a four-seat spot, while Wang Yan’s seat was several rows back in a six-seat spot.
This was quite different from before when they sat together, this time they were separated, which was odd.
She looked at the train ticket in her hand; indeed, in the past, tickets didn’t have names on them, only where to and from, and the street office handed them out without much consideration.
This time, Zhang Yu knew she could get a train ticket, so she went to the street office first thing and asked for a four-seat spot.
Being separated from Wang Yan this way — heh heh — not bad, quite good.
Wang Yan originally thought that she could ask Zhang Yu some questions once on the train, asking where she’d been recently and why she’d missed her multiple visits.
Then she would complain that her recent days were hard, having not gotten benefits from Zhang Yu’s place, her family was unhappy, and with the subsidy issue, her parents and siblings were critical of her, not preparing anything for her.
Her clothes were patched over patches, making her feel dizzy thinking about the mocking gazes at the farm.
She definitely needed Zhang Yu to give her some clothes, and if possible, some money, since she had much to sort out.
Yet, who would have thought Zhang Yu wasn’t beside her, even though they signed up together.
"Little Yu, come sit on my side," Wang Yan said bluntly, "Change spots with someone."
"Not going." Zhang Yu glanced at Wang Yan’s spot without hesitation, "I think the four-seat is better."
This spot is fine; it’s four girls, may be a bit of trouble, but better than Wang Yan’s spot.
That spot has someone who looks like a delinquent; was she out of her mind, desperate to sit there?
"You, how can you be like this," Wang Yan was angry, "Aren’t we good friends?"
"Good friends, sure, a friend who keeps asking me for things." Zhang Yu said coolly, "Anyway, I’m not going."
"You go change spots yourself." Considering there was a delinquent there, no one would swap with her.
Wang Yan’s face fell; on that spot, the delinquent’s gaze towards girls was unsettling.
"No one will swap," Wang Yan said angrily.
Zhang Yu responded indifferently, "They aren’t willing to swap, and neither am I."
"Well then, I want to rest now." Zhang Yu was immensely relieved, being on the inside spot, otherwise Wang Yan might shamelessly suggest squeezing together.
Last night, Yao Ying talked to her extensively, leaving her unrested, she planned to immediately take a nap once on the train.
Before long, Zhang Yu closed her eyes and soon started snoring, Wang Yan, despite her anger, had no choice but to stomp away since nothing else could be done.
When Zhang Yu awoke, she thought much time had passed, but upon asking, realized it was only three stops; she was stunned. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Before departure, she checked the train schedule, wondering why such little distance required 26 hours — alas, better than going Northwest, Northeast, or Southwest.
Reached for a teacup from her bag, went to the train connection to pour some hot water, and returned.
Wang Yan had been closely watching Zhang Yu, thinking she was pretending, but she actually kept sleeping, angering her, and she silently cursed Zhang Yu as a pig numerous times.
Now seeing Zhang Yu awake, she hurried over, "Little Yu, where have you been these days?"
"I went to your house but didn’t find you."
"I went fishing," Zhang Yu said while walking back.
Fishing? Really? Wang Yan doubted, "But I went to find you in the morning; you weren’t home. In the afternoon, you weren’t home either."
"I thought you were avoiding me," Wang Yan said complainatively.
"If you insist on thinking that way, there’s nothing I can do," Zhang Yu sighed, "I told you the truth, you don’t believe it."
"If it were urgent, wouldn’t you come by in the evening?"
"Nobody’s home during the daytime, but surely someone would be there at night?" Zhang Yu was puzzled, "Neighbors told me a young girl was looking for me; I figured if it were urgent, you’d come at night."
"But I didn’t see you visit; I assumed it wasn’t serious, what’s the matter?" Zhang Yu sighed.
"My parents used my accommodation money to buy new clothes for my siblings," Wang Yan, recalling this, felt particularly bad.
"Ah, what will you do?" Zhang Yu showed concern, "So if you don’t have money, how will you prepare?"
Seeing Zhang Yu’s concerned expression, Wang Yan felt better, that’s right; "What can I do? I asked my parents to refund, but they refused and even beat me."
Wang Yan looked pitifully at Zhang Yu, "Little Yu, I brought barely anything; what should I do now?"
What to do? Just let it be, "I don’t know either," Zhang Yu appeared bewildered.
"How can you not know?" Wang Yan got angry, "Aren’t we friends?"
"Now I’m having difficulties, shouldn’t you help?" Wang Yan’s voice grew louder, her expression somewhat fierce.
Help? "How could I help?" Zhang Yu looked at Wang Yan in confusion, "My mother prepared only one set for me, which I need."
"You could give money," Wang Yan snapped harshly, it’s frustrating she had to spell it out.
"Money huh." Zhang Yu nodded, "I have little money, only ten yuan."
"My mom said there’ll be a canteen at the farm, and ten yuan is enough since there’ll be wages." Actually, Zhang Yu brought over a large sum, kept in her space, not fearing Wang Yan rummaging her bag.
What? Wang Yan was stunned, knowing not much stuff was brought, but never thought Zhang Yu only carried ten yuan; that little money, how could it be enough, "Didn’t I tell you before to bring more money?"
"You know your parents are just biased," Wang Yan was furious.
"Your parents are biased too," Zhang Yu retaliated bluntly, "Despite my parents’ favoritism, they prepared things for me."
"And as you once said, boys are the ones inheriting the family business, so my mom giving my brother the job isn’t a problem, right?" Zhang Yu recalled Wang Yan’s previous words.
"Suddenly, I feel my parents aren’t that biased, at least they prepared things and left money for me."
Zhang Yu laughed, "I suddenly feel much better."
