Transmigration; Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Uncle-Chapter 287; Celestial Brother 1
Long Chen’s expression remained neutral, but his eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly as he looked between the twins and the systematically cleaned room.
Since when did Kailani have a taste for furniture?
His sister, the Princess of the Coral Throne who’d lived for centuries in the ocean depths, had never once in her immortal life expressed an opinion about interior decorating. She barely noticed mortal possessions, had never cared whether she sat on silk or stone. And now, suddenly, she had specific preferences about couch styles?
They were lying to him. Badly.
Something had happened here. Something that required immediate furniture replacement and thorough cleaning. Something they were all working to hide.
Long Chen’s lips curved into a slight, knowing smile, but he said nothing. He simply picked up his teacup and took a sip, letting the silence stretch.
The twins exchanged a brief glance before returning to their work, and Long Chen settled deeper into the new couch, probably bought this very morning, to wait.
Whatever had happened here, whatever crisis had left Mei injured and the sitting room destroyed, his mother and sister had survived it.
And soon, he’d have answers.

"Aaawww!" Yuyan yawned loudly, stretching as she woke up and blinked at the clock on her bedside table.
It was almost 9 already.
"Aaaahh! They must have gone to work! How could I sleep until this hour!" Yuyan was already scrambling out of bed in panic, but the maid who had been waiting nearby hurried over and gently caught her before she could stumble.
"Young Miss, you don’t have to worry," the maid said soothingly, steadying Yuyan. "Your mom and dad are still sleeping. Your mom came down with a fever last night, and your father is accompanying her while she rests."
"Mom is sick? I need to see her!" The panic in Yuyan’s voice intensified, her concern for her new mother immediately overriding everything else. She pulled toward the door.
"No, Young Miss," the maid said firmly but kindly, keeping a gentle hold on her. "Your father gave strict instructions that no one should go to the master bedroom to disturb their sleep. You’ll have to wait until your dad is up, and then you can ask him if you can see her. Come now, your breakfast is already here. Go wash your face first."
She turned to Chen Xiao, who was also stirring awake, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "Young Master Chen Xiao, you also go and wash your face. Breakfast is ready for both of you."
"All right..." they both mumbled, though Yuyan still looked worried.
They carefully climbed out of bed and shuffled to the washroom, their movements still sluggish with sleep. The sound of running water soon filled the room as they washed their faces and brushed their teeth, slowly waking up fully.
Yuyan kept glancing toward the door, clearly thinking about her sick mother down the hall. "Do you think Mom is really okay?" she asked Chen Xiao quietly as she dried her face.
Chen Xiao nodded, trying to be reassuring even though he looked uncertain too. "The maid said Uncle is with her. He’ll take care of her."
But Yuyan’s little face was still creased with worry as they finished up and returned to the bedroom where breakfast waited for them.
She had only just gotten her new mother. She couldn’t bear the thought of anything being wrong.
They returned to find the maid had set up a small breakfast table by the window, laden with warm congee, steamed buns, cut fruits, and glasses of fresh juice. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Come, sit and eat," the maid encouraged, pulling out chairs for them both. "Your father specifically requested that you both have a good breakfast this morning."
Yuyan sat down reluctantly, her eyes still drifting toward the door. "Is Mom’s fever very high? Did she need a doctor?"
"The doctor already came early this morning," the maid said, which wasn’t entirely untrue, Dr. Chen had been there, after all. "He said she just needs rest and quiet. These things happen sometimes. Your mother will be fine with proper rest."
Chen Xiao picked up his spoon and started eating his congee quietly, but even he kept glancing at Yuyan, sensing her distress.
"But what if she needs me?" Yuyan’s voice was small, worried. "What if she wakes up and wants to see me and I’m not there?"
The maid’s expression softened. She knelt down beside Yuyan’s chair, meeting the little girl’s eyes. "Young Miss, the best thing you can do for your mother right now is to be a good girl, eat your breakfast, and let her rest. When she wakes up and feels better, she’ll be so happy to see that you took care of yourself. That’s what mothers want, to know their children are healthy and happy."
Yuyan’s lower lip trembled slightly, but she nodded and picked up her spoon. "Okay. I’ll be good. I’ll eat everything so Mom will be proud when she wakes up."
"That’s my brave girl," the maid said warmly, standing back up.
They ate in relative silence for a few minutes, the only sounds being the clinking of spoons against bowls and the soft rustling of the maid tidying up the room around them.
"Young Master Chen Xiao," the maid said gently, "how is your breakfast? Is everything to your liking?"
Chen Xiao nodded, swallowing a bite of steamed bun. "It’s good. Thank you."
He was quieter than usual, and the maid noticed. This was still all so new for him, this family, this home, this mother who had appeared in his life so suddenly. And now she was sick, unreachable.
"Will Uncle Lu Yuze let us see her later?" Chen Xiao asked softly, using the formal address he’d been using for Yuyan’s father.
"You can call him Dad too, you know," Yuyan said suddenly, looking at Chen Xiao. "Mom said you’re part of our family now. That makes him your dad too."
Chen Xiao’s eyes widened slightly, and he looked uncertain. "I... I don’t know if..."
