Tao Luqi woke up screaming loudly and immediately found herself in a warm embrace.

"Hey, it’s alright, I’m right here baby. Don’t be scared, it’s just a bad dream." Fu Mingze said while caressing her hair.

Tao Luqi clung tightly to Fu Mingze while breathing heavily, it was only after a while did she realized that she was in Fu Mingze’s arms. Even after realizing that, she still stayed in his arms for a brief moment before slowly pulling away and that was when she realized that she was actually in a hospital.

"Why am I here?" Tao Luqi asked as she looked around the hospital room.

"You don’t remember what happened or about the conversation we had?" Mingze asked with a frown, even after what Doctor Fei had told him, part of him was still waiting for a kind of miracle, he was hoping that his Meiyi would recognize him after she woke up.

"We had a conversation? Was it about the project? I only remember Tao Mei running to you and calling you daddy. Did I perhaps collapse again?" Tao Luqi asked in horror, she tried to force herself to remember more but immediately winced when she felt a sharp pain in her head.

"That’s enough, there is no need for you to force yourself to remember anything, it’s not as if we spoke of anything important." Fu Mingze said coldly, but a part of them was saddened that she had even forgotten about their kiss, does her memory wish to not remember anything about him?

Tao Luqi frowned when she heard Fu Mingze’s cold tone and asked "There you go again, is this the way you speak to a patient? Don’t you know that you should speak calmly and softly?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Fu Mingze scoffed and said, "Instead of you complaining about the way I speak, shouldn’t you be thanking me for not letting you die in my office."

Tao Luqi became quiet for a moment and softly said "Thank you." Then a thought came to her mind as she quickly looked at Fu Mingze and asked "Did Tao Mei see me collapsed? Where is Tao Mei?"

"Relax, she is fine and no she didn’t see collapse. We were alone when it happened."

"Alone?" Tao Luqi asked in confusion.

Fu Mingze just nodded, he wasn’t really in the mood to tease her. He let out a deep sigh and said "The children are with Xia Lian so they are in safe hands, all you just have to do is get some rest, the kids need a healthy mother after all."

"The kids? Do you plan on not telling Fu Liang that I am not his mother?" Tao Luqi asked and when met with Fu Mingze’s silence she decided to ask further "Do I resemble your wife that much?"

"You were screaming in your sleep, what were you dreaming about?" Fu Mingze asked, ignoring her questions.

Tao Luqi scoffed and said, "That’s a bad attempt at changing questions and I don’t want to talk about it, it’s not important anyway."

"It is important if it makes you restless."

Tao Luqi was shocked by the worry and concern in his eyes, she looked away from him and said "Don’t look at me like that."

"Like how?"

"Like you care about me."

Fu Mingze let out a bitter smile as he said "I do care about you, Luqi."

Tao Luqi was about to reply when the door opened and Dai Shuo quickly rushed to her side.

"Are you alright? Why did you suddenly faint, what did the doctor say?"

"I’m fine. I just fainted, it isn’t a big deal."

"How is that not a big deal, Luqi? I got so worried just hearing that you fainted."

"Who gave you the news that she fainted?" Fu Mingze asked with a frown.

"I did."

Both Fu Mingze and Tao Luqi turned to the door when they heard a familiar feminine voice.

Ye Qingyi smiled when Fu Mingze looked at her and she confidently walked up to him and held his arms as she said "I heard you rushed Miss Tao to the hospital so I thought it was also best to inform her fiance."

"How did you know Dai Shuo is my fiance?" Tao Luqi asked. For some reason, she felt angry at the way Ye Qingyi was holding Fu Mingze’s arm and even angrier seeing how Fu Mingze did nothing about it.

"How would I not know your fiance? Have you forgotten that we all met at the Annual Business Award?" Ye Qingyi asked with a smile.

"I’m grateful, Mr. Fu. Thank you for taking care of Luqi in my stead." Dai Shuo said to Fu Mingze.

Fu Mingze looked at Tao Luqi who immediately looked away when she met his eyes and said "I didn’t take care of her in your stead Mr Dai, Tao Luqi is also my responsibility."

"Your responsibility?" Dai Shuo asked with a frown.

"Apart from Miss Tao being my business partner, I had also promised her dad that I would take care of her."

Dai Shuo’s features softened when he heard that, he smiled softly and said "I understand. I’m sure you have other things to do since you are a very busy man. I’m here to take care of Tao Luqi so you no longer have to worry about her."

"You are right, Fu Mingze is a busy man. You should take good care of your fiancee." Ye Qingyi said with a smile, she looked at Tao Luqi and said "I hope you get better and please take care of yourself, it wouldn’t look nice if you were to faint again in front of my fiance. I wouldn’t like for people to talk."

Tao Luqi scoffed and said, "If you are that insecure then you should just tie him to your side, don’t say poisonous words to me while acting friendly."

"Tao Luqi, that’s not a nice thing to say to someone who came here to visit you." Dai Shuo scolded.

Tao Luqi looked at Dai Shuo with a frown and said "She didn’t come here to visit me, she only came to keep an eye on her fiance."

"How dare you?" Ye Qingyi shouted.

"That’s enough." Fu Mingze said coldly.

The room became quiet after Fu Mingze spoke, he however broke the silence by saying "I will take my leave now, and don’t worry about Tao Mei, I will send her to you tomorrow."

"Tomorrow, why tomorrow?" Tao Luqi asked in confusion.

"Because you need to get some rest and also I would like to spend some time with my daughter."

"Your daughter? What do you mean by that?" Dai Shuo asked with a frown.

Fu Mingze smiled at Tao Luqi as he asked "You still haven’t told him yet?"

Dai Shuo turned his gaze to Tao Luqi as he asked "What are you supposed to tell me?"
