Transmigration; A Mother's Redemption and a perfect Wife.-Chapter 492; I will
thought about what kind of modeling you want to do? Is it Fashion? Commercial? Editorial?"
Qin Xinyu’s face lit up at the question. "I’m not sure yet. What do you think would be best for me to do?" He was just a teenager and knew too little about the entire career chain, he only knew he had looks.
"Well, you’ve got the height and bone structure for high fashion," Twilight mused, studying him critically with a professional eye. "But you also have that boy-next-door quality that works really well for commercial campaigns. Maybe we start with some test shoots, build a portfolio, and see what endorsements will respond."
"That sounds good," he agreed eagerly.
Minghao, who had been quietly looking out the window, suddenly spoke up. "Will you still have time for school and homework? Modeling seems like it would take a lot of time."
It was a practical question, very much in character for the serious young girl.
"Don’t worry, Minghao," Twilight assured her. "I’ll make sure his schedule doesn’t interfere with his education. School always comes first. The modeling will be weekends and holidays only, at least until we see how things go."
"Good," Minghao said with a firm nod, satisfied with that answer.
Tang Fei smiled, listening to them talk. There was something deeply comforting about these mundane conversations, career planning, school schedules, normal teenage concerns. It was so far removed from the blood and violence of last night that it almost felt like a different world entirely.
Maybe that was the point.
Maybe she fought in the darkness so that they could live in the light.
The thought settled over her like a familiar weight, both burden and purpose intertwined.
They passed through the commercial district, where shops were just beginning to open their doors, shopkeepers sweeping sidewalks and arranging displays. Office workers hurried along with coffee cups in hand, headed to their nine-to-five jobs. Normal people living normal lives.
Tang Fei envied them sometimes, that simplicity, that predictability. But she’d chosen her path long ago, in another life, and there was no going back now, it’s something that will always follow her.
"Auntie," Qin Xinyu said suddenly, leaning forward slightly. "Thank you. Really. For everything. For letting me stay with you, for getting me into a good school, and now for supporting this modeling thing..." His voice wavered slightly with emotion. "I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you."
Tang Fei’s chest tightened slightly. She caught his eyes in the rearview mirror. "Xinyu, listen to me. You don’t owe me anything. You’re family now. This is what family does, we support each other, we protect each other, we help each other chase our dreams." She paused, her voice softening. "Just promise me you’ll work hard, stay safe, and never forget who you are or where you came from. That’s all the repayment I need."
"I promise, Auntie." His voice was thick with unshed tears.
Twilight reached back and squeezed her brother’s hand, a silent show of solidarity and affection even though she was an awkward person in socializing, but this was her blood brother, the only relative she had.
Minghao, ever practical, pulled a tissue from her bag and handed it to Qin Xinyu. "Here. Don’t cry before school, people will think something’s wrong with you."
Despite the emotional moment, everyone laughed. Leave it to Minghao to worry about appearances and practicality.
Twenty minutes later, Tang Fei pulled up to the prestigious academy where both children attended school. The campus was impressive, sprawling grounds with modern buildings, perfectly manicured lawns, and an atmosphere of refined education that only money could buy.
Other luxury vehicles lined the drop-off area, parents and chauffeurs delivering their precious cargo for another day of learning. Students in crisp uniforms moved in groups toward the main building, chatting and laughing, their faces bright with youth and possibility.
Tang Fei put the SUV in park and turned to face the back seat. "Alright, you two. Have a good day. Study hard, be safe, and don’t cause any trouble."
"We won’t, Mommy." Minghao unbuckled her seatbelt and leaned forward to kiss her mother’s cheek. "Will you pick us up later?"
Tang Fei hesitated for just a fraction of a second. "I’m not sure what my schedule will be like today. If I can’t make it, theres a chauffeur who always handles your safety. Okay?"
Minghao’s eyes searched her mother’s face, looking for something, reassurance, truth, she wasn’t quite sure what. But she nodded. "Okay, Mommy."
"Bye, Auntie! Thank you for the ride!" Qin Xinyu called out cheerfully as he grabbed his bag and opened the door.
"Bye, sweetheart. Make me proud."
The two children exited the vehicle, slinging their backpacks over their shoulders. Minghao paused to wave at her mother through the window, and Tang Fei waved back, her heart clenching with a fierce, protective love.
She watched them walk through the school gates together, Qin Xinyu saying something that made Minghao smile, a rare and precious sight. They disappeared into the crowd of students, and Tang Fei finally allowed herself to exhale.
"They’re good kids," Twilight observed quietly beside her.
"They are," Tang Fei agreed, putting the car back in drive and pulling away from the school. "I just hope I can keep them that way, good, innocent, safe from all the ugliness in the world."
"You’re doing your best, momma" Twilight said. "That’s all anyone can ask."
Tang Fei didn’t respond. Sometimes, your best still didn’t feel like enough.
The drive to the audition halls took another thirty minutes, taking them from the refined educational district into the heart of the city’s entertainment quarter. Here, the buildings were taller, flashier, covered in advertisements for movies, concerts, and television shows. Aspiring actors, models, and performers filled the sidewalks, all chasing the same elusive dream of fame and success.
Tang Fei navigated to a modern high-rise building that housed several production companies and casting agencies. The structure was all glass and steel, reflecting the morning sun in brilliant flashes.
After breakfast, Tang Fei gathered her things, a sleek black handbag, her phone, and the car keys. The children finished their meals and collected their school bags, the familiar morning routine unfolding with practiced ease.
"Alright, is everyone ready?" Tang Fei called out, slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"Yes, Auntie!" Qin Xinyu responded enthusiastically, adjusting his backpack straps.
Minghao simply nodded, her expression thoughtful as she double-checked that she had everything she needed.
"Qing Qing, stay at home and if you feel bored, you can tell Nanny to accompany you, or watch TV." She kissed her goodbye. Qing Qing wasn’t done with her food yet.
"All right, Auntie..." She happily nodded, waving goodbye to them.
Qin Xinyu and Minghao waved back at her while walking away.
They filed out through the side entrance that led to the private garage. The space was expansive, housing the Huo family’s impressive collection of vehicles, everything from bulletproof sedans to luxury sports cars. Tang Fei bypassed the more ostentatious options and headed straight for an understated black SUV that was practical yet elegant.
She clicked the key fob, and the vehicle’s lights blinked in response.
"Shotgun!" Twilight called out with a grin, moving toward the passenger side.
"That’s not fair, you always get the front seat," Minghao protested half-heartedly, though there was affection in her tone.
"Early bird gets the worm, little one. Back seat fits you better..." Twilight teased, ruffling Minghao’s hair as she passed by her.
Tang Fei couldn’t help but smile at their little banter. It was these small, normal moments that made everything else worthwhile.
She slid into the driver’s seat, adjusting the mirrors and seat position while the others settled in. Twilight buckled up beside her, immediately pulling out her phone to check messages. In the back, Qin Xinyu and Minghao arranged themselves comfortably, their school bags tucked at their feet.
"Mommy... It’s very rare of you to drive. I wonder how good your skills are! But please be careful, I still have several years to live!" Minghao teasingly muttered, gazing at her mother. Truly, she hadn’t seen her drive often.
"Don’t worry! I’m the best of the best..." Tang Fei giggled as she adjusted everything and started the engine.
"Hey hey... Missus!"
"Hold up!"
Huo Qi’s voice suddenly rang out, stopping them as he rushed over from the side entrance, slightly out of breath.
Tang Fei paused, her hand still on the gear shift, and rolled down her window. "What’s the matter, Huo Qi? The children will be late for school!"
"Missus, please, let the chauffeur drive you," Huo Qi said urgently, gesturing toward one of the waiting drivers who had already started moving toward another vehicle. "You should go back inside and wake Master Huo. There are some urgent matters that require both of your attention immediately."
Tang Fei’s expression didn’t change, but something flickered in her eyes, something cool and unyielding. "Urgent matters?" she repeated, her tone light but with an edge. "
