Transmigrating to the BeastWorld,I Picked Up an Adorable BeastHusband!-Chapter 26: She only wanted to be with him
Ningning’s lips parted, but no sound came out.
Her mind refused to catch up with his words.
"Just be my mate," he said, leaning closer. "You should be grateful, a top male like me is taking you as his mate."
Before she could react..
He lowered his head and bit down on her wrist.
Hard.
Ningning’s eyes widened instantly.
Pain exploded through her arm, sharp and searing, sending chills racing down her spine.
She gasped, her body stiffening in shock.
She couldn’t move.
She couldn’t scream.
Her legs felt weak, fear flooding her chest so fast it stole her breath.
She didn’t want this.
She didn’t want to mate with him.
She didn’t want to be marked.
How was she supposed to explain this to Weijie?
How could she face him after this?
After what had been done to her—without consent, without warning?
Only after several heartbeats did the male finally release her wrist.
He straightened slowly, satisfaction evident on his face.
He smiled.
As if he had given her a gift.
He looked at her expectantly.
But Ningning wasn’t thanking him.
Tears trembled in her eyes.
Her hands shook.
And the way she stared at him—
It was filled with hatred.
Pure and unfiltered.
The male frowned slightly, clearly displeased.
Before he could speak, a sharp female voice cut through the air.
"Ruo!"
A woman stormed toward them, her steps heavy and furious.
She had the same brown hair, the same whisker-like markings on her face.
Her eyes moved from the male—
Then landed on Ningning.
And froze.
Her gaze dropped to Ningning’s wrist.
To the fresh bite mark.
Her expression twisted violently.
"You!" she screamed. "You cursed female!"How dare you seduce my male?!"
Ningning stiffened.
The woman rushed closer, pointing at her aggressively.
"You disgusting mate thief! Do you think just because you have a face, you can steal other females’ males?!"
Her voice rose higher, shriller.
"I knew it! I knew you females who wander alone are all evil! You pretend to be weak, pretend to be innocent, then spread your legs for any male you see!"
She glared at the bite mark again, her face contorting with rage.
"You even let him mark you?! You cheap thing! Do you have no shame?!"
Ningning slowly lifted her head.
Her lips curved upward.
It was not a smile born of humor.
It was sharp.
Cold.
Angry.
So this was his mate?
They were a perfect match.
A match made in hell because heaven was too nice for them.
The woman raised her hand, eyes blazing. "I’ll beat you to death—!"
That was when Ningning moved.
She caught the woman’s wrist mid-air.
The slap never landed.
The woman stared at her in disbelief. "You—!"
Ningning didn’t let her finish. "Don’t mess with me bitch. I’ve got a bad character too, when I’m angry...I don’t know how to stop.."
She yanked the woman forward and slammed her to the ground.
The woman screamed.
Ningning struck her without hesitation, every hit fueled by fear, humiliation, and fury she had been forced to swallow.
The woman cried, cursed, struggled.
The male shouted, panicked. "Stop! Enough—!"
Ningning released the woman and straightened.
She turned slowly to face him.
Her eyes were cold.
Her voice was steady.
"You’re a crazy bastard. Come next to me again and I’ll paralyse you from the waist down."
She didn’t wait for a response.
She turned and walked away.
Her back was straight.
Her steps were calm.
She hid her injured wrist against her body as she headed back toward the river.
When she returned to the other women, her expression was composed.
No one noticed anything strange.
But inside—
Her heart trembled violently.
How the heck was she supposed to explain this to Weijie? There was no way she could hide it from him.
He was too sharp.
She cheated, before she even got married.
[It’s not so bad Dumpling. Trust me, you don’t have to—]
Ningning frowned, she wasn’t in the mood to hear Doudou talk BS.
"Not now Doudou. I’m not in the mood.."
Doudou sighed, but he didn’t say anything.
[Fine. Have it your way. ]
The women had finished fishing, their baskets brimming with wriggling silver-grey carp.
Laughter and splashes echoed lightly across the riverbank as they counted their catch, checking which baskets were fullest.
Xiaoli noticed Ningning standing a little apart, her eyes distant, her fingers tracing idle patterns in the sand.
"Ningning..." Xiaoli said gently, tilting her head. "What’s wrong? You’ve been quiet since you got back."
Ningning’s lips twitched into a shallow, distracted smile. "Nothing... just tired, I guess."
Xiaoli frowned but did not press further. She could tell the answer was only half-truth anyway.
The walk back to the settlement was slow.
The sun had begun to tilt toward the west, casting long shadows across the packed earth. Birds chirped above, and the occasional splash of the river still echoeing behind them.
But Ningning heard none of it. Her mind was elsewhere, a storm of thought and dread swirling in her chest.
What if Weijie... what if he’s angry?
What if he doesn’t want her anymore... and she’s forced to go back to that... that thing who marked her?
Her fists clenched, nails biting into her palms.
She only wanted to be with Weijie.
She had never wanted anything else.
Why is the universe so cruel? she thought bitterly.
She didn’t notice when they arrived. She didn’t even notice when she slipped into the small ledge outside her cave.
She simply stood there, frozen, peering at the dark entrance.
Two minutes passed.
Three.
Her heart pounded in her chest like a drum.
She was afraid to enter.
She wanted to hide, to escape into the shadows of the mountain, but her mind knew she couldn’t.
Then a deep, soft voice broke the silence.
"You’re back. I was about to come look for you..."
Ningning’s head lowered. She didn’t dare look up. Her hands clenched tightly, her knees trembling.
A shadow fell over the ledge.
Two feet, twice the size of her own appeared, planted firmly on the stone.
"What’s wrong? Are you hurt?" Weijie’s voice was calm, steady, but carried weight.
Her lips trembled. "I... I’m sorry... I did a bad thing..."
The words came in a whisper. She looked down at the uneven rocks underfoot, too ashamed to meet his eyes.
"I..." She hesitated, then told him everything. Her tears fell freely now.
"He... he appeared... and... he bit me... I didn’t want it..."
