Transmigrating to the BeastWorld,I Picked Up an Adorable BeastHusband!-Chapter 22: They need to be tamed
Ningning stepped out of the cave and immediately spotted Xiaoli.
She was leaning against the stone wall near the entrance, one shoulder relaxed against it, her blonde hair lifting gently in the breeze. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
The sunlight caught in it, turning it almost pale gold, and for a brief moment she looked entirely unbothered by the world around her.
Xiaoli straightened when she noticed Ningning and smiled.
"Are you ready?"
Ningning returned the smile and nodded. "Yes."
Xiaoli pushed herself off the wall and gestured for her to follow. "Good. The others are already waiting. If we’re late, they’ll tease us for the rest of the day."
Ningning chuckled softly as they began walking, the settlement slowly coming to life around them.
Smoke curled from cooking fires, and a few men glanced their way before quickly looking elsewhere when they noticed who she was walking with.
"So.." Xiaoli said casually, matching her pace, "did you sleep well?"
Ningning hesitated for half a second, then nodded. "Better than I expected."
Xiaoli raised a brow, clearly amused. "That means you’re adjusting fast."
"Or I was too tired to complain," Ningning replied, earning a quiet laugh.
They walked past several caves before reaching an open space where a few women were already gathered.
Bundles of reeds lay stacked nearby, some freshly cut, others already soaked and pliable. A few of the women looked up as Ningning approached, their curiosity obvious but not unfriendly.
Xiaoli stepped slightly ahead of her. "This is Ningning.." she said easily. "Weijie’s mate."
There was a brief pause.
The women glanced at each other, then at Una, who was sitting in the corner.
"Hah. So this is Weijie’s mate. She’s fatter than I thought, haha her stomach is bigger than the fatso from the bear tribe.."
-_-
[Ouch. Now you see why the difficulty level was 90%]
Ningning smiled, she didn’t say anything yet because she hadn’t thought of a good comeback.
"Puka don’t say that. Your ribs are even poking out and Weijie still didn’t choose you. He didn’t choose any of us and our stomachs aren’t big."
-_-
Puka lips twitched as she faced the reeds in her hands.
"She’s not even that pretty. Una is pretty, Weijie must be blind to choose this puffy puffball over her.."
[Damn. They’re just dashing out insults. I thought they were going to friendly. You know, all giggles and glitters.]
Ningning laughed, women were mean they’re only giggles and glitters if they like you.
"You can sit down. I still think Una is a better match for Weijie. She has always been by his side. You just can’t from no where.."
Ningning’s eyes finally landed on Una, her eyes widened slightly.
She was pretty, from head to toe. She could see why all the women were on her side.
"You think so?" She finally said. As she walked to the middle.
"You think Una is a better match? You think she’s more beautiful than I am? You think she has a better body then mine? Yes that might be true but the one who’s Weijie’s mate is me and I didn’t beg him. You all insult and criticize me but neither one of you have mates. So why don’t you shut up, gathering round and let me show you how to get and keep a man."
-_-
[Damn girl.]
Ningning’s words did not silence the group.
If anything, they made it louder.
A few women laughed outright, not kindly. Others leaned in, eyes bright, the way people looked when a story finally got interesting.
"Did you hear her?"
"She really said that."
"She thinks she can teaching us"
Puka snorted. "So now she’s a man expert?"
Xiaoli opened her mouth, then closed it again. She glanced at Ningning, concern flickering across her face.
Una stood up.
She did not raise her voice.
She didn’t need to.
The moment she moved, attention followed her naturally, as if the space itself shifted to accommodate her.
"You speak very confidently." Una said, her tone light, almost curious. "For someone who has not even seen one full season here."
Ningning felt it then.
Not anger or hatred.
But dismissal.
"She doesn’t know our ways." someone murmured.
"She doesn’t know Weijie."
"That’s true." Ningning said, and this time she did not step forward. She stayed where she was. "I don’t."
Several women paused, thrown off by the lack of defense.
Una tilted her head. "Then why speak as if you do?"
"Because everyone here is already speaking for him." Ningning replied. "I was only responding."
Puka scoffed. "Responding? You walked in and took what was meant for Una."
The words hung heavy.
Ningning’s fingers tightened around the reeds in her hands.
Xiaoli finally spoke. "Weijie chose. No one took anything."
"That’s easy to say when it wasn’t your future." another woman shot back.
Ningning chuckled "So why aren’t you asking me how I supposedly stole Weijie? Aren’t you curious about my secrets to success? It’s not like you all had your eyes on Weijie, yes I am a "man expert" so why don’t you learn from me?"
Puka chuckled "What could you possibly know?"
Ningning shrugged, she didn’t know much except that Weijie liked her and she was going to use that to her advantage.
"I do know I didn’t have to sleep with him. What if I told you he begged me to be his mate? Despite my ugly face and my big stomach."
That earned her multiple scoffs.
"You? Weijie begged you? And not the other way around?" Una chuckled slightly and soon it turned into a laugh.
"Yes. He begged me to be his mate and I didn’t have to do anything. Now, if you all agree to be my friends, I will teach you how to tame these men and in return you teach me these tribe stuff.."
Una’s laughter faded first.
Not because she was convinced, but because she had decided it had gone on long enough.
"That’s enough.." she said, still smiling, but there was a sharpness beneath it now.
"You talk as if men are animals to be trained."
-_-
Ningning scoffed "These men ARE animals that need to be tamed. Because they’re at an advantage."
