His liquid cash had decreased, but he’d gained a valuable business asset and strengthened his relationship with a powerful ally. Not a bad morning’s work
In school, Sebastian entered the classroom with his usual confident stride.
His eyes immediately scanned the room, assessing the situation.
Ethan was already there, sitting in his seat at the back. But notably, he wasn’t trying to talk to Isabelle at all. He wasn’t even looking in her direction. His head was down, staring at his desk with a focused expression.
Isabelle was at her usual seat, the one next to where Sebastian now sat, reading through her notes quietly.
Sebastian slid into his chair beside her.
"Hey," he whispered, leaning slightly closer. "Did he try to speak to you?"
Isabelle shook her head, not looking up from her notes. "No. He’s been avoiding me all morning."
Sebastian nodded thoughtfully.
A protagonist giving up was certainly not something he expected. In every novel he’d read, protagonists were relentless—they’d chase the heroine no matter how many times they got rejected, always finding new ways to prove themselves.
But Ethan was just... sitting there. Quiet. Withdrawn.
’Either he’s genuinely broken, or he’s planning something,’ Sebastian thought. ’I need to remain vigilant.’
During class, Sebastian discreetly pulled out his phone under his desk and sent a quick message to his lackeys.
Sebastian: Follow Ethan for me today. Let me know who he speaks to and what he does. Don’t be obvious about it.
<Derek: On it, boss!>
<Marcus: We won’t let him out of our sight!>
<Tyler: Consider it done!>
Sebastian slipped his phone back into his pocket and returned his attention to the class, though his mind was already working through possibilities.

During lunch time, Derek, Marcus, and Tyler stood before Sebastian in an empty classroom on the third floor.
Sebastian leaned on the edge of a desk, arms crossed, looking at them expectantly.
"Hurry up," Sebastian said. "I need to go have lunch. What did you find out?"
Derek stepped forward first. "Boss, honestly, he didn’t do much. He went to his classes, kept his head down, didn’t talk to anyone."
"Literally anyone?" Sebastian pressed.
"Well, he answered when teachers called on him," Marcus added. "But otherwise, no. No conversations with students at all."
Tyler nodded in agreement. "He looked pretty depressed, actually. Just walked from class to class like a zombie."
Sebastian’s eyes narrowed. "That’s it? Nothing else?"
"Well..." Derek exchanged glances with the other two. "There was one thing. During the break between third and fourth period, he went to the teacher’s office."
Sebastian’s attention sharpened immediately. "Which teacher?"
"We couldn’t get close enough to see exactly who he was talking to," Derek admitted. "But we saw him go into the main teacher’s office area and stay there for about ten minutes."
"Did you see him leave? Was he with anyone?"
"He left alone," Tyler said. "But he looked... different when he came out. Not as depressed. More... determined, I guess?"
Sebastian’s jaw tightened. "Which teacher’s desk was he near? Did you see anything?"
Marcus scratched his head. "We were watching from the hallway, boss. We couldn’t see that clearly without being obvious."
"Useless," Sebastian muttered, though not harshly. "Alright. Keep watching him this afternoon. I want to know everywhere he goes and everyone he talks to. Understood?"
"Yes, boss!" all three said in unison.
They filed out quickly, leaving Sebastian alone with his thoughts.
’The teacher’s office,’ Sebastian mused. ’What business would Ethan have there? Asking for extra help? Complaining about something? Or...’
A bad premonition settled in his gut.
Protagonists didn’t just give up on one heroine and wallow in defeat. They moved on to the next one.
And in school settings, who were the classic "older woman" targets?
Teachers.
Sebastian pulled out his phone and texted Derek again.
Sebastian: Find out which teacher Ethan spoke to. I need a name.
The response came back fifteen minutes later, just as Sebastian was finishing his lunch in the cafeteria.
Derek: Boss, we asked a few people who were near the office during break. Ethan was seen talking to Miss Sloane. Amelia Sloane.
Sebastian’s eyes widened immediately.
Amelia Sloane.
He knew exactly who that was.
Every male student in the school knew who Amelia Sloane was.
She was in her late twenties, stunningly beautiful with long auburn hair, sharp green eyes, and a figure that made even the most disciplined students lose focus during her lectures.
She dressed professionally but elegantly, and she had a warm, nurturing personality that made students feel comfortable opening up to her.
She was, without question, the most attractive teacher in the entire school.
’He’s going after a new heroine already!’ Sebastian thought, his mind racing.
Of course. It made perfect sense. Ethan had been humiliated with Isabelle, rejected. Going back to her was pointless now.
But a beautiful, kind teacher who saw him struggling? Who might offer sympathy and encouragement? That was a classic protagonist move.
The "older woman" route.
The "mature beauty falls for the struggling young man" trope.
And Amelia Sloane fit that archetype perfectly.
’Damn it,’ Sebastian cursed internally. ’I should have seen this coming.’
He needed more information before ethan progressed.
Sebastian pulled up his phone and searched for Amelia Sloane on social media. Her profiles were professional—mostly posts about literature, book recommendations, occasional photos from school events.
No obvious personal life visible. No boyfriend mentioned. No wedding ring that Sebastian had ever noticed.
She was single, attractive, compassionate, and in a position of authority.
Perfect heroine material.
Sebastian stood up from his lunch table, his expression cold and calculating.
He couldn’t let Ethan establish a foothold with another heroine. Not when he’d just finished destroying the relationship with Isabelle.
’I need to handle this before it develops,’ Sebastian thought.
The question was how.
He couldn’t use the same tactics he’d used with Isabelle—teacher-student relationships were different, more complicated, with professional boundaries and ethical considerations. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
But Sebastian Fairfax didn’t become a successful villain by giving up when things got complicated.
He pulled out his phone and typed a new message.
Sebastian: Derek, I need you to find out everything you can about Miss Sloane. Her schedule, her routines, where she goes after school, what she does on weekends. Everything. But be subtle, don’t let anyone know you’re digging.
Derek: On it, boss!
Sebastian slipped his phone back into his pocket and headed back to class, his mind already formulating plans.
Ethan Cole thought he could just move on to a new heroine and start over?
Not while Sebastian Fairfax was watching. The rest of the day passed with Sebastian spending time in classes with Isabelle.
Ethan didn’t pickup fights or argumets with Sebastian despite knowing he was the reason everything had come to ruin. He was clesrly focused on his next ovjective.
Sebastian on the other hand, was preparing to sabotage Ethan once again.
