Nick could only watch as a terrifying mass erupted from the circular throne. The first to pierce through was an arm, a long and hideous arm. Its mass seemed to be defined solely by muscles and large bulging veins. At the end of the arm was a hand with 4 claws, attached in such a way that they created an X-shape.

A loud roar shook the entire room as it placed its arm on the ground, using it to push the rest of its frame through the circle. Blood poured from its lion-like face as it rose into the air, opening its mouth to let loose another mighty roar. This roar shook not only the beams that supported the ceiling of the throne room, but also seemingly the throne room itself.

Another arm followed this face, placing itself on the opposite end of the circle of the first arm. Now that it had the support of two arms, the beast could easily push its entire frame through the feature.

Nick gripped the [Fang of Finality] as he tried to will himself to move. This would be, by far, the easiest chance to take him down. Yet... it was as if he was entirely paralyzed.

'Is it all going to end here?' Nick thought, his bravado finally waning. Even with most of its body obscured, he couldn't imagine facing down such a formidable beast. Just the presence of its roar made his soul quiver in fear.

The rocks and marble of this room shared the same sentiment. As 2 more of these arm appendages made their way into the world, it felt like the room itself felt fear. Inanimate objects, the kind without any conscious, still couldn't bear the existence of such a foul demon.

And he was supposed to fight such a being?

No... more than that.

He had to win.

Somehow.

If he didn't...

"Don't be such a fucking pussy!" Nick screamed at himself as the beast's midsection rose through the circle.

The circle started to look more like a door to Nick. 264C, to be exact. If he couldn't face this beast here and now... how could he ever hope to face his father again?

More than that...

He couldn't help but imagine the blood that flowed endlessly from the beast's arrival as Juliana's, Amelia's, Ugyr's, Elise's, and even the new raiders. Sylus, Magnus, Glynt. How could he falter now, allowing them to die? What the fuck kind of person could do such a thing?

Nick took a deep steadying breath as he held his sword tightly against the quaking caused by Asmodeus' arrival. As far as he was concerned, it had a name, and that made it mortal.

Even if every part of its body was one out of a horrible nightmare.

Now that its entire frame was in this reality, time seemed to slow down just enough for Nick to take in every inch of its terrifying existence.

Its face was a mix between a lion's and a gorilla's. Big, ugly and round eyes protruded from its skull as if they were baseballs or pin-up eyes. A large, beaky nose nestled in between these 2 eyes, leading down to a terrifying array of jagged teeth.

These teeth almost reminded Nick of a shark's, except that they stuck out from the mouth at every possible angle. Its round chin seamlessly transitioned into the beast's stout neck, which seemed to disappear into the vast and expansive body.

Dark red fur matted its body, although its face and arms were entirely hairless. 6 arms extended from the body, 3 at each side. The beast stood on all 6 arms as if they were legs. However, Nick knew that it could fight on just 2 legs if it wanted to.

A large, circular monkey tail hung in the air, completely erect with bloodlust as the beast eyed down Nick. Wagging its tail, Asmodeus made its first charge.

Despite its massive 15-meter size, the beast was overwhelmingly fast. Quick strides closed the distance between them before Nick even had time to raise his Fang.

Slash!

The beast's left arm lifted from the ground and struck Nick in his side, flinging him to the wall. His Fang fell to the side as blood filled his mouth and his breath turned haggard.

Dazed, Nick reached out with his hands as if looking for something. His weapon. He needed his—

"Aagh!" Nick screamed as the beast threw him in the air.

He hit the ceiling with a loud and resounding thud before falling back to the ground, where the beast was waiting.

'Unequip! Unequip Unequip Unequip-unequip!!!'

Nick commanded in his mind over and over.

Hoping that his weapon answered him, Nick willed it in his hand just as he was reaching the beast. The Fang materialized in his hand and was quickly aimed for the beast's head.

It smiled as it raised one of its arms, simply catching the Fang in 2 of its claws. Then it jerked the arm in hopes of sending Nick flying.

Instinctually, he had unequipped the Fang, so instead of flying across the room and decorating the beast's room, he simply fell to the ground.

Paying no attention to the looming monstrosity, Nick began running around the beast, trying to think of a way to create an opening.

Not only was the beast unfathomably strong, it was also insanely quick. Not to mention, so far...

It had only used 1 arm. One. When it had 6.

Nick had almost died while Asmodeus viewed this as a simple warmup.

Asmodeus watched as the Progenitor ran around him, assessing his chances. Although he may look like a predator stalking his prey, Asmodeus knew otherwise.

This Progenitor had yet to inherit his true power. It was a guardian of that power, after all.

Therefore, he wasn't a predator circling his prey. No, he was a scared hero facing certain death. In all his brave foolishness, he was hoping against all logic that some sort of opening would rear its head.

Letting loose a low and guttural laugh, the beast charged once again. This time, it would kill the hero.
