Transmigrated To Ancient Time: Thrive With An Auction System!-Chapter 226: Wanted Criminal
Looking at his tattered clothes, Yao Zhi let out a long sigh and took out the clothes worn by the original soul before. The size was big, and it was made of common materials of this era.
Since she couldn’t give him more medicine, she added five drops of spiritual spring water into the waterskin. As long as he drank this water, he wouldn’t die even if he wanted to.
When she was done, she used a branch to remove the footprints on the ground. Before leaving, she gave him another look and said solemnly, "Young man, I wish you good luck."
Not long after she left, Ye Ying returned. He stood near the young man’s leg and raised one of its hind legs. The next moment, a surge of warm liquid drenched the young man’s shoes.
One minute later, Ye Ying took a sniff and nodded with satisfaction. With his scent on his leg, no wild beast would dare to get closer to this person.
After finding an unknown man severely injured, Yao Zhi didn’t dare to linger in the mountain forest anymore and quickly returned home.
When she arrived, she took off Xiao Lu’s harness and let it rest. As for Ye Ying and Bai Xue, they were taking a nap in the shed.
Since the weather was getting colder, Yao Zhi used dry hay to cover the vegetables to keep them warm. As she worked, she soon forgot about the injured man.
In the afternoon, a group of Yamen runners walked into Yang Village. When the villagers saw them, they looked at them with awe and fear.
The Yamen runners walked toward the Village Chief’s house. When they arrived, the Village Chief and his family were weaving bamboo baskets.
Seeing them coming, Yang Erlang quickly opened the gate and greeted them. "Greetings, Sir. Are you looking for someone?"
One of the Yamen runners nodded and said, "We are looking for the Village Chief. Is he at home?"
Yang Erlang nodded and stepped aside to let them in. "My father is at home. Please come in, Sir." After they walked in, he shouted, "Father, there is a guest."
The Village Chief walked out of the house when he heard his second son’s voice. When he saw the officers, he cupped his fists and said, "Greetings, Sir. I wonder what brought you all to my humble house?"
One of the Yamen runners took out a piece of paper from his sleeve. He showed the drawing and said, "Have you seen this person?"
The Village Chief and his sons took a closer look at the drawing and shook their heads. "Sir, who is this person?" Yang Dalang asked.
"Someone broke into the Magistrate’s office last night."
When they heard this, they were taken aback. The villagers had only heard about thieves or murderers from rumors or stories. So, hearing this, they felt as if they were dreaming.
Looking at their expressions, the Yamen runners knew that they didn’t know anything about the wanted criminal. "Keep the drawing and warn the villagers. If they see this person, report it to the Yamen immediately."
The Village Chief accepted the drawing and nodded. "Don’t worry, Sir. I will inform the villagers."
After the brief conversation, the Yamen runners left the village and went to another village.
When the villagers saw them leaving, they finally dared to go to the Village Chief’s house to find out what was happening.
"Village Chief, what did the officers want?" one of the villagers asked.
Seeing that everyone was here, the Village Chief used this opportunity to inform them about the criminal.
Showing the drawing to them, he said, "This is the criminal who broke into the Magistrate’s office last night. If any of you saw him, report it immediately."
The moment the villagers heard this, they broke into a commotion. They were not worried that the officers would be unable to catch the criminal, but worried about the criminal hiding in their village and harming them.
Noticing their concerns, the Village Chief said, "All of you don’t have to worry. As long as we are honest, we don’t have to worry about being punished. Go home and inform your families. Until the criminal is caught, don’t go out at night."
"Village Chief, we will listen to you."
The villagers took a closer look at the drawing before they returned to their homes and informed their families.
While everyone was anxious, Yao Zhi knew nothing about the criminal. She spent her time as usual and went to sleep after taking a bath and having her dinner.
After the sky had darkened and the villagers had fallen asleep, a group of people entered the mountain forest near Yang Village. Holding torches, they searched the mountain carefully.
They went deeper and deeper until they finally reached the area near the cliff. When they thought that they wouldn’t be able to find the person they were looking for, they smelled a strong sour smell.
Feeling curious, one of them walked in that direction. Not long after, he saw a young man lying unconscious on the ground. Seeing this, he rushed over, squatted beside him, and saw his face clearly.
"I found the Heir! Over here!"
Hearing his shout, the rest of the people rushed over. One of them, carrying a medicine box, squatted beside the young man and said, "Let me check the Heir first."
He opened his tattered clothes and saw the bandages. Seeing this, they exchanged glances while the man opened the bandages to check the wounds.
He took a sniff at the ointment and muttered, "I have never seen this kind of ointment."
"Physician Fu, is the ointment poisonous?" one of them asked.
"No, this medicine should be made using rare medicinal herbs. One of the ingredients should be 500-year-old wild ginseng."
When they heard this, everyone was surprised. For someone who was willing to use such precious medicine to save a stranger, this person must be very generous or wealthy.
But who was this person who lived in the depths of the mountain?
