Transmigrated into a Parvenu’s Ex-wife in the ‘90s-Chapter 440
Chapter 440 - “Nah. She is doing fine. I don’t want to show up and disrupt her life.” (3)
“Pay for my own expenses? Who did Shu Yan think she is? A government official or something? We have to shell out so much money to attend her wedding? Pei. She should be honored that we are there at all.” She then pointed at Shu Jianyang and said, “You call her up immediately and find out what she meant by that.”
Shu Yan was going through the guest list with Feng Zeyu when she received the call. Shu Yan frowned when she heard the ruckus from the other end. Frowning, she said, “Didn’t I write Big Aunt and family on the invitation? That means that her entire family can attend. She wants me to send her an individual invitation? And to apologize to her solemnly?”
The request was so ridiculous that Shu Yan busted out laughing. “Had we not met again at your wedding last time, we wouldn’t even recognize each other had we run into each other in the middle of the street. She can do what she sees fit.”
Meaning, if she wanted to sever their family ties, so be it. Shu Yan would have one less tool as relatives.
“So you are not going, right?” Shu Jianyang pulled out his notebook and crossed out First Cousin’s name.”
“No.” First Cousin tugged at her mother. “My parents won’t be going either.”
Big Aunty patted her daughter on her hand and said, “Your First Uncle and I are busy. We will have your Cousin Shitou go in our place.”
“Alright.” Shu Jianyang wrote the name down in a different notebook. “Who else is going or not going? Let me jot it down.”
“I won’t be going either. I have to go to work. They will deduct money from my pay if I take time off. Same goes for my parents,” said Shu Yan’s Second Brother.
Shu Jianyang nodded and also crossed their names out. Among the remaining cousins, with the exception of their first male cousin from the father’s side and Shu Jianyang, all the others declined. Among Shu Yan’s own brothers and sisters, only her older brother and his wife would be attending. The other two families opted out as well.
Her second and third brothers had planned on going originally. Then they recalled Shu Yan’s current temperament and the man that she would be marrying.
It was a pain to be around them and they couldn’t even get anything out of the long trip, not to mention what they would lose from work, so they decided against it.
The two aunties on the mother side both would be sending their oldest child to go as their representative.
The older of the two uncles on the mother's side said he would be too busy to go but his wife was sending over a red envelope for the younger uncle to bring with him. Shu Yan’s maternal grandparents said they were too old to travel and declined as well.
In the end, from Shu Yan’s mother’s side, there would be her Second Uncle and his son, the two cousins, each from one of her aunt’s family.
On the Shu family side, Big Uncle and Aunty would not be going but would be sending Big Cousin and Shu Jianyang as their representatives.
From Shu Yan’s own family side, only her Big Brother and his wife would be attending. Her Little Uncle’s would be sending her cousin in his place. Little Aunty, upon seeing that, also gave up on going and had her daughter go in her place.
In total, even including Shitou and Li Miaomiao, there were a total of 16 attendees.
Shu Yan was surprised when she found out about the headcount. She thought that many would be fighting to go as all expenses would be paid for.
“You don’t need that many people to go. A representative from each family will be good enough.” Shu Jianyang felt that there were parts at his wedding that he did not care for.
He was professing his love to his bride on stage and the guests were eating away.
He was kissing his bride and the guests were eating away.
When it was finally over, many pulled out bags asking to take food with them. Nevermind that, many still complained that there wasn’t enough food, and the meal wasn’t as filling as having steamed buns at home.
“Make sense.” The original owner just wanted to have her day. All she needed was a representative from each family.
From Feng Zeyu’s side, there was his gang, in particular the ones who had fought with him side by side, in addition to Old Grandma. Feng Zeyu called them up one by one to invite them. His comrades in arms were happier than Feng Zeyu when they heard that he was getting married.
Then there were Shu Yan’s friends that she made at City Nan – Lao Zhang and his wife, Lin Hui, and Zhang Huaxiu. She hesitated when it came to Wu Xiuyue but finally decided to extend the invitation to her as well. It’d be awkward to invite Zhang Huaxiu but not her. Besides, Wu Xiuyue might not attend anyway.
“What about……” Shu Yan hesitated for a long time before she decided to check with Feng Zeyu. “Your mother’s side?”
Feng Zeyu smiled, shook his head, and said nonchalantly. “Nah. She is doing fine. I don’t want to show up and disrupt her life.”
He had experienced life and death and departures. With all of his experiences and at this point in his life, he did not let too many things bother him. Most things are not an issue to him.
Since he had turned down that idea, Shu Yan was not going to talk about it anymore. After the guest list had been finalized, Hu Ruixue gave Shu Yan a call to let her know that the wedding gown was ready and to have her go over and try it on.
