Transmigrated Genius: Fragile Heiress Reigns Supreme-Chapter 560 - 563: Drawing a Circle (1)
"Madam, the Grand Dowager is here." Chunliu lifted the curtain and came in, speaking to Xiqiu.
Xiqiu exchanged a glance with Ruan Jingliu and then got up to greet her. The Grand Dowager looked at her and anxiously asked, "It’s the third day today, how is Xing now?"
Xiqiu lowered her eyes and shook her head with a face full of despair, "No change!"
The Grand Dowager’s eyes turned red. She personally lifted the curtain and went in, only to see Young Master Xing lying there just like the previous days, his small face pale with no trace of blood, even... even somewhat lifeless.
She went up to touch Young Master Xing’s face, and tears began to fall.
"Mother. Please don’t worry, it isn’t dark yet. Let’s wait a bit longer!"
The Grand Dowager said nothing, her face full of sorrow.
Nanny Wu stood by the bedside, her gaze flickered, showing a look of reluctance.
Xiqiu glanced at her and quietly said, "Nanny Wu, would you please make a cup of tea for Mother, one that suits her taste?"
Nanny Wu’s gaze paused, then she said nothing and left with her head down.
Xiqiu continued to say many things to comfort the Grand Dowager. While she was talking, Xiao Yanyi also came in. He glanced at the bed where Young Master Xing lay, said nothing, and sat gloomily on one side.
The Second Madam was talking with Nanny Li, asking, "Still hasn’t woken up?"
Nanny Li nodded with a smile, "Not yet; I reckon he won’t wake up." The Second Madam’s eyes turned and she began to smile happily...
"Madam, what do we do next?" Nanny Li asked.
The Second Madam pondered for a moment and then said, "There’s still half the day left, naturally we’ll wait for good news." Just as she was about to say something, a young maid called from outside the curtain, "Madam, Miss Bihuai from Fourth Madam’s side is here."
Nanny Li was startled and asked suspiciously, "What’s she here for?"
"I see she has several paper packages in her hand, looking like she’s brought something for the Fourth Madam."
The Second Madam’s face turned cold and she said to Nanny Li, "You go and throw out everything she brought; she dares to send it, but I dare not eat it!"
Nanny Li nodded and left the room, returning shortly after.
The Second Madam picked up a piece of Ruyi Cake, about to eat it, but then stopped and asked, "Was this pastry sent from the kitchen?"
Nanny Li, confused, nodded and said, "Yes, it was sent from the kitchen. Does madam think there’s a problem?"
The Second Madam furrowed her brow and tossed the Ruyi Cake back onto the plate, "From now on, all food must be made by you personally. Anything sent from outside is not to come near me."
Nanny Li nodded in agreement.
Bihuai came out of the Second Madam’s room and went directly to Lianqiao’s room. Lianqiao was lying on the bed in a daze, her face looking quite bad.
"Sister Lianqiao." Bihuai entered with a smile. Lianqiao was startled, turned to look at Bihuai, and asked, "Has Fourth Madam instructed you on something?"
"No." Bihuai, who was young and looked very honest with her dark skin, answered, "Our Madam is keeping vigil in Young Master Xin’s room, and I felt troubled, so I wanted to take a walk and ended up here."
Lianqiao pointed to the stool by the bed, "Since you’re here, keep me company for a chat." Bihuai sat down on the stool.
"Thank the Fourth Madam for the medicine she sent, otherwise I wouldn’t know how much this wound would still hurt." Lianqiao looked gratefully at Bihuai. Bihuai shook her head, "No need to be formal; our Madam knew you were implicated, so you needn’t worry about it."
Bihuai looked at Lianqiao’s face and sighed deeply.
Lianqiao was startled by this and asked, "What’s wrong, Bihuai? Is it about Young Master Xin..." Bihuai looked back at her with eyes filled with sorrow, and her eyes turned red too, "Young Master Xin hasn’t woken up yet, it’s already the third day!"
Lianqiao was shocked to hear this and recalled Ziwei’s words, "The Grand Dowager said if Young Master Xin wakes up, she’ll let you return to his side, but if he doesn’t wake up..."
Thinking of this, cold sweat broke out on her back.
What should I do? If Young Master Xin never wakes up, will I really have to be driven out of the mansion?
She had been sold by her mother and father since childhood, didn’t even know where her family was, and had no place to go. If she’s driven out, who knows what kind of fate awaits her, perhaps dying in the mansion would be a cleaner end.
Lianqiao tightly grasped the edge of the blanket!
"Would you like some water?" Bihuai wiped at her eyes, "You’ve been lying down all day, aren’t you thirsty?"
Lianqiao had no desire to drink water, so she waved her hand, "You’re a guest, no need for you to serve me. Please sit and rest, we can talk."
Bihuai didn’t insist further, still sitting by the bed, and Lianqiao asked, "How is Ziwei doing?"
Bihuai’s gaze flickered when she heard this, looking toward the door before softly saying, "Not to hide it from you, I just visited Sister Ziwei. She’s doing better now, able to eat a bit, and there are young maids serving in the room..." she hesitated as if wanting to say more.
Lianqiao was puzzled and asked, "What’s the matter, sister? Speak freely, there’s no need for secrets between us."
Bihuai thought for a moment and nodded, "Yes, it’s not really a secret." Then she leaned in close to Lianqiao’s ear and whispered, "I heard the Grand Dowager wanted to elevate Ziwei as a concubine beforehand... Ziwei suffered grievances this time, and since the Second Madam has always taken a liking to her, she may turn misfortune into a blessing and be promoted as a concubine as compensation. So, sister, you don’t need to worry about Ziwei, she is better off than you!"
Lianqiao listened and closed her eyes.
The same situation, yet she was to be sent out of the mansion, while Ziwei was to be elevated as a concubine...
Bihuai took out a piece of emerald green stone, which had a hole through it and was tied with a colorful cord, looking very pretty, "Sister Lianqiao, I forgot to give this to her when I visited Ziwei, would you help me deliver this if you get the chance?"
Lianqiao was puzzled, looking at Bihuai, only to see her smiling pleasantly, but there was an unreadable emotion in her eyes.
Lianqiao was startled...
She was currently injured; if she were to see Ziwei, it would be months later. Why was Bihuai giving her this stone, asking her to pass it to Ziwei?
Bihuai was a trusted handmaid accompanying the Fourth Madam, doing so clearly on behalf of the Fourth Madam.
What did Fourth Madam mean by this?
Suddenly, she pondered, could it be that Fourth Madam also suspected the Second Madam just like her?
And hence?
She lowered her eyes to think carefully, while Bihuai sat quietly watching her, saying nothing and playing with the emerald stone in her hand...
After a long time, Lianqiao suddenly raised her head to look at Bihuai, took the stone with a smile, and said, "Then I’ll deliver it to Ziwei for Sister Bihuai!"
"Thank you, sister." Bihuai stood up smiling, "I’ll return now. Although there isn’t much to do, I can’t stay away too long, fearing the Fourth Madam might look for me. If Sister Lianqiao needs anything, please send someone to inform me."
