Transmigrated as the Stepmother of a Rebellious Heir-Chapter 164 - 100: Achievement_2
Chapter 164: Chapter 100: Achievement_2
Before anyone had time to react, an account claiming to be a public relations staffer came forward with an exposé, saying that Shu Wan’s agent had hired their company to deploy an online army to whitewash Shu Wan’s image.
The clear chat log instantly sparked public outrage.
"So disgusting, I’ve seen through it all along. This is just the typical hype of a mediocre star like Shu Wan. She just wants to draw attention by saying she’s taking the college entrance exam, and now that she realizes she’s performed poorly, she’s started buying an online army."
"A high fever of 42 degrees Celsius? Don’t make me die laughing. At that temperature, she must have turned into an idiot. How could she even take the test? It’s a joke."
"I’m so fed up with these stars in the entertainment circle playing for sympathy. Why can’t they just work hard at their jobs? They earn such high salaries and still play the sympathy card; it’s disgusting."
It’s safe to say that the PR company understood exactly what would enrage netizens.
Over the years, netizens have grown weary of the entertainment circle’s stars and their sob stories.
They earn far more than most, yet they don’t advance their professional skills; they use the excuse of ’hard work’ to gain audience understanding for their poor acting and low standards.
The PR company deliberately used this rhetoric to trigger the anger of the majority, and indeed it was effective.
Wang Tian had never anticipated that his clever plan would backfire. Looking at the barrage of condemnations and accusations against Shu Wan online, Wang Tian racked his brains but couldn’t see any possibility of Shu Wan not retiring from the industry.
In the end, Wang Tian could only notify Shu Wan with heavy heart, "Uhm, sweetheart, this is really it. Do you have any other talents? Maybe it’s time to change careers."
"Results will be out tomorrow. What’s the rush?" Shu Wan replied calmly.
Wang Tian wailed, cursing inwardly that she was well aware that the results would be out soon; there was only one day left until the end of her career as an artist.
Perhaps the shock was too great for Wang Tian, because he stopped responding to Shu Wan’s messages and disappeared into some corner to lick his wounds.
Shu Wan turned off her phone, just about to continue filming when she saw Lin Man approaching her.
"Is there something you need?" Shu Wan looked at Lin Man.
"I’m not here for you," Lin Man said with a haughty look, "I was just passing by."
Though she said that, Lin Man still called out to Shu Wan as she was about to leave the break room, "Hey, what’s the deal? You say your grades are bad, so just scraping by in college should be enough. Why drop out and take the exam?"
"I said I’m not bad, but you don’t believe me."
Lin Man frowned deeply, "Why are you always so full of yourself? I’ve never seen anyone as stubborn as you."
"What do you want from me, really?"
"Well," Lin Man coughed lightly, "Just so you know, I’m not here to help you. It’s just to help my uncle recruit one more student."
Shu Wan tilted her head slightly, "What do you mean?"
"You’ve heard of Royal Art College, right? It’s a quite well-known private university. With such poor grades, you’ll have to pay more, but my uncle might just manage to accept you."
Lin Man mentioned a college that Shu Wan had not heard of, but knowing Lin Man as she did, she guessed it was probably not a bad private school.
If Shu Wan really could only score around 200 points, she would basically not be able to get into such a school.
Shu Wan’s lips curled up slightly, suddenly gesturing for Lin Man to come closer.
Lin Man was puzzled but still leaned towards Shu Wan, "What is it?"
Shu Wan extended her hand and placed something on Lin Man’s head, then smiled at her, "Thanks for your concern."
Shu Wan, usually cool and aloof, had a unique charm when she smiled, like a breeze winding around a hillside, light with the mist of the mountains.
Lin Man was instinctively stunned and then finally realized, reaching to remove whatever Shu Wan placed on her head.
It was a garland made of grass and a few fresh flowers.
It had to be said, Shu Wan’s aesthetic sense was truly exquisite; with only a few simple flowers, she could transform them into a decorative piece with a unique beauty under her touch.
Lin Man really wanted to toss it away proudly, but she couldn’t deny it was pretty. After hesitating for a moment, she decided to keep the garland, "What, you think you can bribe me with this?"
"No." Shu Wan stood up smiling, "Just a pure thanks for your concern."
"Who’s concerned about you?" Lin Man bristled, "I’m not concerned about you, I just wanted to help my uncle make some more money."
No matter what she said, Shu Wan acted as if she hadn’t heard.
Seeing that Shu Wan had walked away, Lin Man then lowered her head to look at the garland given by Shu Wan, meticulously placing it back on her head.
She picked up her phone and took many selfies, finding the more she looked at it, the more the garland matched her current attire.
