Transmigrated as the Crown Prince's Mate-Chapter 104: Any Planned Surprises?
Damian observed Evelina, his laughter softening. He reached out and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. "You know," he said softly, "I like this. Seeing you like this."
Evelina tilted her head. "Like what?"
"Happy," he said simply.
Her breath hitched as she looked into his eyes.
No teasing, no games. Just honesty.
She swallowed, her heart pounding a little too fast. "I... I think I like it too," she admitted.
Damian smiled, squeezing her hand. "Good. Because I plan on giving you a lot more moments like this."
Relia cooed sweetly. "Ooooohhhh... they are falling in love already."
Evelina ignored her, but she knew the truth.
Maybe, just maybe... Relia was right.
Though she wasn’t admitting it yet.
Rolling her eyes, a smile tugged at her lips as she faced Damian. "You’re awfully confident, aren’t you?"
Damian smirked. "It’s part of my charm."
Evelina snorted. "Debatable."
They continued swapping stories as they ate, and after they had finished eating, Damian stood up and offered his hand to Evelina. "Come on," his voice was low and inviting. "Let’s take a walk by the lake. The night is too beautiful to spend it sitting down."
Eve hesitated for only a moment before taking his hand and letting him pull her to her feet.
The warmth of his touch sent a thrill through her, and she couldn’t help but smile as they began to walk along the edge of the lake.
The moon was high in the sky, its pale light reflecting off the water, casting a silvery glow over everything. The air was cool but not cold, with a light breeze rustling the leaves in the trees around them.
They walked quietly for a while, listening to the gentle sound of water lapping against the shore and the occasional rustling of leaves. Evelina felt at peace, more at ease than she had in days.
It was as if the world had shrunk to just the two of them while everything else—the palace and kingdom events, the poisoning, the assassin, and everything else—was momentarily ignored.
Finally, Damian stopped and turned to face Evelina with a serious expression. "You know, I’ve never met anyone like you, Evelina. You’re strong, smart, and beautiful. But more than that, you make me want to be a better person. I never expected to feel this way, but I can’t deny it anymore."
Evelina’s heart skipped a beat at his words, her breath catching in her throat.
The emotion in his eyes and the honesty in his voice—it all felt so overwhelming, yet completely natural.
She had been trying to avoid these feelings, the mate bond and connection between them, but now, standing here with him, she realised she didn’t want to run anymore.
"I feel the same way," she admitted in a whisper. "I’ve been trying to push you away because I was scared, but the truth is, I can’t stop thinking about you. You’ve made me feel things I never thought I’d feel again, and that terrifies me. But it also excites me."
Damian’s gaze softened, and he reached out to take her hand in his. "I promise I’ll never hurt you, Evelina. I’ll be here for you, no matter what. We’ll take this one step at a time, and I’ll be right by your side the whole way."
Evelina smiled, her heart swelling with emotion. "Thank you, Damian. That means more to me than you know."
Damian’s smile was one of pure relief. His eyes lit up as he stepped closer to her, his hand cupping her cheek. "That’s all I need to hear," he murmured before leaning down to capture her lips in a kiss.
This kiss felt different from the last one. It was softer and slower, suggesting that there was more to come. Evelina relaxed in his embrace, wrapping her arms around his neck as she let herself feel the emotions inside her.
When they finally pulled away, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other as they simply enjoyed the moment.
The air around them seemed charged.
Damian’s eyes darkened with desire as he looked down at her, his voice husky as he whispered, "I want to make tonight special for you, Evelina. A night you’ll never forget."
She felt a rush of excitement at his words, with a sense of eagerness growing inside her. "I’m already having a good time," she replied quietly, keeping her eyes on him. "Or do you have any other surprises planned?"
Damian smiled, his hands resting on her hips as he gently pulled her towards him. "Well, it just so happens that I do," he murmured in a low and sensual voice.
"I can’t wait to see it," Evelina breathed, her heart racing as his lips brushed against her ear.
"Neither can I."
With those words, Damian scooped Evelina into his arms, lifting her effortlessly and cradling her against his chest.
Evelina let out a gasp of surprise, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck as he began to walk. "What are you doing?" she demanded, trying not to laugh.
Damian’s lips curled into a mischievous grin, his silver eyes twinkling. "I’m taking you back to the oak tree," he replied in a suggestive tone.
Evelina raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?" she teased, a smile tugging at her lips.
Damian chuckled. "Yes. I intend to show you exactly what I have planned."
He walked towards the oak tree with long strides, the moonlight highlighting his attractive face. Evelina felt a thrill of excitement as she watched him, her heart racing.
As soon as they arrived at the tree, Damian set Evelina down, keeping his arm wrapped around her waist as he pulled her close. "Do you trust me, Evelina?" he murmured, his breath warm against her ear.
Evelina gazed up at him, her heart pounding in her chest. Unable to trust her voice, she simply nodded.
"Then close your eyes."
She hesitated for a moment but then did as he asked, her breath catching in her throat.
Damian’s lips brushed against her cheek and slowly moved to her lips. She felt his arms tighten around her, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through her body.
She let out a soft sigh as he deepened the kiss, her fingers tangling in his hair as she pressed herself against him more.
"Damian," she whispered softly, her voice shaking with feeling.
Damian leaned back a bit, their breaths mixing as they both tried to calm down.
His heart was racing; the intensity was overwhelming, but he kept his gaze locked on hers, searching for any sign of hesitation.
"Claim her, Damian. Make her ours." Storm urged.
Eve’s eyes were wide, her cheeks flushed, and her lips slightly parted as if she were about to speak but couldn’t find the words.
He was intoxicated by the warmth of her breath on his skin. He could sense the undeniable attraction between them, a need they both felt.
"Do you want to take this inside?"
