Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work-Chapter 136: All Made Up
On weekdays, Ding Anguo and Yi Weiliang were in the county town, so the dining place reverted to the house in Bright Alley. All the way there, Ding Ancheng held Yi Roujing’s hand and kept silent, adding to Yi Roujing’s pressure.
"Sister-in-law, why so late today?" Ding Anmin opened the door to find Ding Ancheng and Yi Roujing returning and immediately sensed something was off after speaking.
"Is everything okay with Ailing?" Ding Anmin cautiously asked.
"Nothing’s wrong, not long now and we’ll be drinking her wedding wine." Yi Roujing replied with a smile, but when the cold air beside her wafted over, she suppressed her smile and quietly glanced at Ding Ancheng.
Ding Ancheng brushed past the two of them and went straight inside.
"What’s up with my brother?" Ding Anmin leaned closer to Yi Roujing and whispered.
"He overheard me bad-mouthing him," Yi Roujing said aggrievedly, "Is it easy to coax your brother?"
Ding Anmin smirked and turned away, still not forgetting to call out, "Come and eat."
"Hey, hey, you don’t care about me," Yi Roujing complained.
"It’s a matter between you and my brother. How can I, as the sister-in-law, intervene? Don’t worry, quarrels at the head of the bed are resolved by its foot. Just coax him well, and my brother will be fine," Ding Anmin said without concern.
After dinner, Ding Ancheng mounted his bike, carrying Yi Roujing to County First Middle School. The only sounds accompanying them on the way were the ambient noises around them.
Yi Roujing reached out to wrap her arms around Ding Ancheng’s waist, slowly leaning her head close. She felt Ding Ancheng’s body stiffen for a moment, but he didn’t stop cycling and remained unmoved.
"Are you mad?" Yi Roujing asked softly.
"Yes."
"I was just saying it casually, don’t take it seriously," Yi Roujing awkwardly laughed, "I knew she couldn’t do anything to you, that’s why I encouraged her to find you."
With a "screech," the bicycle came to a halt, and by inertia, Yi Roujing ended up pressing closer to Ding Ancheng, wrapping both arms tightly around his waist.
"Do you really think I’m angry about that?" Ding Ancheng turned back to look at Yi Roujing with a smile — how to describe that smile? Yi Roujing felt he was even angrier.
"Of course not." Yi Roujing, knowing the wisdom of timing, immediately changed her tone, "Mr. Ding is magnanimous and wouldn’t get mad over such baseless words."
The bicycle started again, and once more, it became even quieter.
After washing up and getting into bed, Yi Roujing realized that Ding Ancheng still hadn’t spoken to her. What was he mad about? Yi Roujing pondered on the bed while Ding Ancheng was still getting ready. But she couldn’t figure it out.
"Damn it, why do they say a woman’s heart is like the bottom of the sea? Seems like it’s the man’s heart that’s hard to guess."
"Still mad?" When Ding Ancheng came into the room, sat on the bed, and remained silent, Yi Roujing asked with a hum, "I’m not even mad, yet you’re getting all worked up."
"Ah—" Yi Roujing let out a sudden yelp; before she knew it, she was in Ding Ancheng’s arms, "W-what are you doing?"
"Hey—" Ding Ancheng sighed, resting his head atop Yi Roujing’s hair, nuzzling softly, "Don’t you trust me?"
"Huh?" Yi Roujing didn’t understand how the topic shifted to this.
"When you’re wronged or hurt, why don’t you tell me?" Ding Ancheng looked down directly at Yi Roujing.
Yi Roujing blinked, "Are you mad about this?"
"And wouldn’t this be something to get mad about?" Ding Ancheng countered, "Of course, I’m not mad at you; I’m mad at myself for not being good enough, for not doing enough, so my wife can’t trust me completely."
"Jing, it’s my first time being married and being this fond of someone. I want to share everything with you. Don’t you want that?" Ding Ancheng said with a hoarse voice.
"I, it’s my first time being married too," Yi Roujing replied softly, "I just didn’t want to worry you, so I handled things I could deal with myself."
"Then would you comfort me?" Ding Ancheng murmured, "Didn’t you want to console me before? I want to be comforted by you."
"Hey, I’ve never been consoled before," Yi Roujing grumbled, "Today I’m the victim..."
Yi Roujing felt her chin gently being lifted, a warm sensation covering her as he kissed her until she was breathless before letting go.
"W-what are you doing?" Yi Roujing thought this position felt a bit risky.
"I want you to comfort me like this," Ding Ancheng closed his eyes and leaned his entire face close, "Hurry, kiss me."
"What about Li Xipei? What did you do?" Yi Roujing cupped Ding Ancheng’s face and asked.
"Whatever she wanted to do to you, I returned it to her," Ding Ancheng replied.
"Did you get someone to bully her?"
"She’s inherently infuriating; I didn’t even need to find someone specifically, just had to arrange a suitable place for them," Ding Ancheng said.
"How did you know about Li Xipei’s plan against me?" Yi Roujing asked.
"Song Yiluo came to see me before she left for Beijing and told me," Ding Ancheng answered honestly.
"Song Yiluo came to see you?" Yi Roujing was extremely surprised, "What did she say?"
"Interested?" Ding Ancheng opened his eyes suddenly and smiled slyly.
"Not that interested," Yi Roujing strategically moved back, feeling the look in Ding Ancheng’s eyes was a bit dangerous.
"Coax me, and I’ll tell you everything," Ding Ancheng flipped over, forcing Yi Roujing to retreat completely under his offensive.
The next morning, Yi Roujing awoke feeling her waist was about to break while the person beside her seemed thoroughly satisfied.
"So, coaxed yet?" Yi Roujing looked at Ding Ancheng with a calm expression and asked.
Seeing his wife’s odd expression, Ding Ancheng quickly sat down to massage her waist, taking the opportunity to report Song Yiluo’s visit fully and honestly.
"Did you threaten her?" Yi Roujing was very surprised but inexplicably felt a bit pleased, thinking she might be petty.
"She threatened me first," Ding Ancheng recounted truthfully, "That person has some issues; if I didn’t plan to avoid a direct confrontation with the Song Family now, I’d consider sending her to the revolution committee."
"She probably likes you," Yi Roujing said with a teasing expression.
"But I’m yours," Ding Ancheng leaned in close, speaking seriously, "In the future, if someone likes me, you’ll have to stand up for me."
"Hahaha," Yi Roujing laughed and almost rolled over, "What if in the future someone likes me?"
"Who?" A cold air swept in, stopping Yi Roujing’s laughter.
"Someone with good taste, after all, I’m both pretty and smart with a decent job, if I weren’t already married, there’d be no shortage of people to introduce me."
"That’s fine," Ding Ancheng suddenly leaned in, planting kisses on Yi Roujing’s forehead, eyes, nose, chin... "You are mine now."
"Hey, aren’t you going to let me go to work?" Yi Roujing said coquettishly, giving a little glare.
"What’s Gu Shizhao planning for Li Xipei?" Yi Roujing dodged Ding Ancheng’s kisses as she asked.
"Whatever she and Wen Chaokuan had in mind for Xia Xingchen, that’s how he’ll deal with her," Ding Ancheng responded.
