Chapter 153: Deals Have Consequences (5)

Ronald honestly was at a loss for words.

Truly, he didn’t know what Lin Zhu was blabbering on about.

All he had wanted to do was have a casual chat with her about why she wasn’t holding up her end of the deal anymore.

And yet, just like her sister back when he had saved her in the Cobra Cobra’s Facility, here she was resigning herself to death as well like there was no other options.

Like come on, can’t she even logically think about it with her brain for just one second about why he was even here right now?

’Sigh, guess the Lin sisters are just the overdramatic types, huh.’

Well regardless, it was clear to him that there was a huge misunderstanding going on between him and the sisters, and so Ronald wanted to clear it up before it got worse.

Of course, in order to do that though, he needed to gain Lin Zhu’s full trust first.

With that said, Ronald shook his head, adjusted his posture, and then gestured the receptionist, who had been hiding in the right hand corner of the intersection the entire time, to come out.

"Come help me out here real quick." Ronald said.

The receptionist, still completely dumbfounded by the strength that Ronald had just displayed, slowly creaked her body out of the right corner wall and nervously walked over to Ronald.

"Y-yes? How may I help?" The receptionist, despite her best efforts to remain calm, couldn’t help but stutter at the beginning as she respectfully replied.

Even though the receptionist considered herself to be extremely street smart especially since she was actually currently in the Maven list in the assassin scene and had been for a few years now, it honestly didn’t take a genius to figure out that the Ronald in front of her right now had been hiding his strength from the public this entire time.

After all, all she’s ever heard about him was his frequent misconducts, and never about him being an incredibly strong powerhouse anywhere before.

Not even in the assassin scene where everyone loved to gossip about people’s secrets whenever they had the chance.

So the fact that she was just now aware of his strength by witnessing it firsthand in person through combat clearly meant that he had been trying to hide it this entire time... and that made her deeply afraid and anxious.

Ronald could very well want to kill her off just to keep his secret from being exposed after all, and there was absolutely nothing she could even do about it.

As such, she had to be extremely cautious right now and hope that Ronald might simply leave her be if she just showed him the proper respect and deference.

"Could you steadily hold her up in a sitting position for me? She’s paralyzed right now." Unaware of the receptionist’s current thoughts right now, Ronald casually pointed to Lin Zhu, who was still lying flat on her back, and asked.

The receptionist awkwardly nodded her head to Ronald in response, and then carefully propped Lin Zhu up into a seated position while Lin Zhu was constantly cursing at her.

"Haah, this woman still really is a handful even when her body can’t move." Ronald couldn’t help but mutter to himself at the obscene words that were coming out of Lin Zhu’s mouth as he kneeled down on one knee in front of Lin Zhu and began touching her temples.

"You piece of shit, what are you-" Before Lin Zhu could finish snapping back at Ronald however, her head instantly began to throb, and a splitting headache formed, causing her to let out a loud gasp and start screaming.

"A-AHH! AAAHHHHH! S-STOP! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU- AAAGHHH!"

Lin Zhu screamed and squirmed her head around in pain, but no matter how much she twisted and turned, her head continued throbbing and the pain continued to grow by the second.

It wasn’t until a minute later when some black foul smelling liquid came out from her body that the pain finally died down.

"There, all done." Ronald stated as he stood back up and wiped off some of the black substance off of his hands, "How do you feel now?"

"..." Lin Zhu, who was still gasping and panting for air, didn’t reply back immediately and instead angrily glared at him still as though he was the worst person ever.

Obviously she still felt fucking awful from the pain she had experienced just a few seconds ago.

After all, it was the first time she had ever felt such excruciating pain like that in her entire life, and to make matters worse, it was coming from him of all people.

So what did he expect?

For her to suddenly say, ’Yeah, the pain felt great, thanks?’

Yeah, no.

"Fuck you, you-" Before Lin Zhu could continue insulting Ronald however, she quickly paused.

Why?

Because... something about her body felt abnormally off.

The impurities, which she knew her body had a lot of, weren’t there in her body anymore.

As her sister had explained it to her long ago, impurities are dirty and contaminated substances that accumulates inside of a cultivator’s body as a result of absorbing low-grade qi in polluted areas where there are high levels of impurities in the air such as cities.

As such, impurities needed to be constantly expelled out of the body through either specialized cleansing pills, purification formations, or months of meticulous qi circulation throughout the body.

Otherwise the impurities will slow down the cultivation process, weaken a cultivator’s body and techniques, and cause tremendous additional problems the higher one ascended in cultivation realm.

In extreme cases, it can also lead to internal qi deviation, permanent damage to one’s meridians, or even spontaneous collapse of the dantian and death during a breakthrough attempt.

That was fundamentally one of the main the reasons why when cultivators cultivate, they tend to only cultivate at spots with an abundance of qi as there are not much impurities present compared to polluted areas and dare not risk cultivating anywhere else.

Now of course, if that was all there was to it, then impurities wouldn’t be as feared by cultivators as much.

After all, cultivators could just manage the impurity and get rid of them whenever they please if that was the case.

Unfortunately though, it wasn’t that simple.

Some impurities, once it enters a cultivator’s body, couldn’t be dispelled by any means neccessary at all.

Not through pills, formations, or even years of thorough qi circulation.

These types of impurities would just root themselves so deeply into a cultivator’s body that they became permanent.

That was why it was common knowledge that every single cultivator in the world had at least some impurities in them, and cultivators in higher realms often suffered more from impurity problems due to the amount of irremovable impurities that has built up in their bodies over time.

But now... she could feel that the impurity in her body were entirely gone.

It was as if though her body was brand new, and was even slightly stronger than before.

"You..." Lin Zhu stared at Ronald in complete and utter bewilderment,"How...no, why?" freewēbnoveℓ.com

Hearing this, Ronald couldn’t help but grin widely at the confusion that was clearly plastered on Lin Zhu’s face.

"Why? Isn’t it obvious?" Ronald chuckled.

"It’s because I don’t intend to let our relationship end here."
