Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All-Chapter 315 - 228: The Liu Family
The weather is really nice today, with the sunlight spreading on the ground early. Second Aunt and Jiang Hu took the things they packed yesterday.
At home, there was only the carriage that Liu Ze used when he arrived. It wasn’t very big, and it was a bit cramped with everyone on it.
Luckily, the distance wasn’t far, so only a few of the children went on, and the rest of the belongings were put inside. Liu Ze, Jiang Yu, Jiang Hu, and Second Aunt walked into town.
Originally, Jiang Hu wanted Liu Ze to go on the carriage too, but Liu Ze didn’t agree.
They set out quite early, and when they reached the city gate, there weren’t many people yet.
Going in and out of the city gate required a check. The guards needed to take a look at the household registration or travel pass.
Fortunately, because it was a time of peace, the checks weren’t strict.
The family entered the city smoothly, with Liu Ze leading the way and introducing the city to everyone.
In fact, Cheng County isn’t large, nor is it prosperous; it’s just a remote small town.
But in recent years, Cheng County has developed quite well, especially with the people’s fields yielding bumper harvests year after year, and the agricultural output increasing year after year.
Especially a few years ago during the drought, the Superintendent of Agriculture, despite the ridicule of others, insisted on planting a large area of sorghum outside the city, saving more than half of Cheng County’s populace.
This incident spread widely around Cheng County, and everyone spoke of a good parental official in Cheng County who safeguarded the people.
It was still early now; there weren’t many people on the streets, but there were plenty of breakfast stalls—wontons, noodles, buns, mantou, porridge, and so on. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Some of them they’d seen before, and some they hadn’t, so Liu Ze introduced them one by one.
On both sides of the street, there were many shops selling food, drinks, and supplies for daily life—everything from clothing to housing and transportation.
They entered this part of the city, which was the bustling area of Cheng County. Almost all along the road were all kinds of shops, and you could buy almost anything.
Meanwhile, the Liu family was in another direction. According to Liu Ze, their family was relatively well-off, and the place they lived in was decent.
Yet, there were many wealthier merchants than his family, and most of them were gathered in one area, while some ordinary people were in another separate area.
Xiaomi leaned against the small window of the carriage, curiously observing while not missing out on Liu Ze’s introductions.
Liu Ze said quite a bit, and he was very tactful and detailed, but to put it simply, the city was divided into four areas.
One was the commercial street, open to everyone.
Another was the wealthy district, for the super-rich.
The third was the ordinary district, where people lived in conditions that weren’t the best, but weren’t bad either.
The last was the civilian district, where ordinary folks lived.
This was not surprising; with a larger population, the disparity between rich and poor widened, naturally leading to such distinctions.
However, the overall atmosphere of Cheng County was still good. Just like Liu Ze said, the County Magistrate was excellent, leading to a clear and positive atmosphere below.
At least for the time they had been in the city, walking along, the ground was clean. The stalls were orderly, and the people they met on the road all greeted with smiles, creating a very harmonious atmosphere.
Since entering the city, they walked for about half an hour before they finally exited the commercial street, then made a turn and walked a bit further, finally stopping at the gate of a courtyard.
A houseboy went forward to knock on the door, and upon hearing that the young master had returned, the landlord hurriedly opened the door.
"Young Master, you’re finally back. The master was just mentioning you last night, wondering when you would return."
The door opened hospitably for Liu Ze to enter. Seeing Jiang Hu and the others, they only curiously observed without asking much.
"Where is Grandpa now?"
"The master just got up not long ago, he’s basking in the sun in the back. It was raining continuously a few days ago, and the master felt a bit damp."
"Alright, you go inform Grandpa first, just say Uncle Jiang and the others have arrived."
"Okay."
The doorman bowed slightly, then ran back to notify the master.
Afterwards, Liu Ze smiled and invited everyone inside: "Uncle, Auntie, let’s go in first. Grandpa hasn’t seen you in a long time, he will definitely be very happy."
At first, Jiang Hu didn’t feel much of anything, but when they entered and he saw the beautifully arranged garden, he began to feel a bit constrained.
Especially just now, when Liu Ze spoke to the doorman; his demeanor and manner finally made Jiang Hu understand what it meant to be a son of a wealthy family.
It was completely different from how he usually was with them, exuding a bit of noble aloofness.
However, when Liu Ze turned to look at them, it seemed as if he immediately reverted to his usual neighborly brother demeanor.
After all, having lived together for several years, although Jiang Hu and Second Aunt initially felt a little reserved, they quickly regained their natural demeanor and followed Liu Ze inside.
