Transferred to Another World and Became a Teacher-Chapter 102 - Questioning
"… I happened to overhear what you said, and it was a bit concerning. The request you mentioned earlier, who exactly was it from?" I said, looking directly at Kathy.
Unlike Shenley, who had droopy eyes and seemed somewhat unsure of herself, Kathy had a sharp gaze that conveyed a strong will. Although their personalities were opposites, they looked very similar in every other way.
For some reason, when Kathy, who resembled Shenley so much, directed a hostile glare at him, it made me feel sad.
"… You're the rumored senior instructor from Fiddiq Academy. It seems you've caught His Majesty's favor, but your facade will soon fall apart. After all, that person has taken notice of you."
"When you say that person, are you referring to at least a marquis or higher? I don't recall doing anything that would attract such attention, so it must be some kind of grudge."
Kathy furrowed her brows exasperatedly. "… I can't believe how insensitive you are. Your arrogance is shortening your lifespan, but you don't even realize it."
She shrugged and glanced at Shenley. "No matter how much other magic you can use, it’s meaningless. What makes Maple Leaf what it is is its world-class healing magic. Even if other nations surpass us in other forms of magic, our unrivaled healing magic is what secures our place among the Six Great Nations. When the kings and nobles of other countries are seriously ill or fatally wounded, they have no choice but to seek aid from the saints and saintesses of Maple Leaf."
With a puffed-up chest, Kathy proudly boasted about the brilliance of Maple Leaf’s healing magic.
I tilted my head in response. "The superiority of Maple Leaf's healing magic may disappear in two or three years."
Kathy gave me a threatening smile. "And what do you base that on…? I heard from that person that you showed off some new type of magic to curry favor with His Majesty. Magic is all about building on fundamentals and applying them."
Hearing Kathy smugly lectured me about magic, I nodded in understanding. "Ah, so that person is Court Magician Gem… It's true I embarrassed him in front of His Majesty. But I never expected that he would go so far as to harass Shenley…"
When I realized the identity of the mastermind, irritation welled up inside me. Not only was I angry that he didn’t confront me directly but also that he targeted Shenley, a fellow Maple Leaf noble who couldn’t oppose him.
Gem was probably a high-ranking noble, perhaps a marquis. And it seemed likely that the Viscount Rosentiel family belonged to that faction.
In that case, it made sense why Shenley’s father, the viscount, hadn’t explained the situation.
"… I understand the reason now. Shenley, let's talk with your father again. This time, we’ll definitely convince him." I turned to Shenley, and she looked at me with wide eyes.
On the other hand, Kathy seemed to think I ignored her, and her face reddened as she trembled with anger. "Ignore me…? I’m a candidate for sainthood…?"
Kathy muttered something while shaking with frustration, but I couldn’t quite make out her words.
"Well then, let's go. Kathy, Lewis, thank you both."

After briefly thanking them, I led the confused Shenley away.
If the issue wasn’t a family conflict but rather external harassment, then the solution was simple. All we had to do was eliminate the source of the harassment.
Having found a lead, I took Shenley’s hand and, with light steps, retraced the path we had come.
