Transcending Realms With My Leveling System As A Demon-Chapter 113: The Grieve of Lost Guilt
Zylus not once felt guilty at what was conspiring. He simply saw Emilia walk out, but his emotions felt numb. He was pained, in his heart, in his head; he just felt mentally hurt.
The people around him stayed still, their lips went off, moving and mixing, but Zylus couldn’t hear any of it; those voices felt distant. He saw their lips move on and off, pause for a couple of seconds to breathe, yet none of it applied to him.
His sense of self just seemed to... change.
And then, small whispers came resurfacing at the back of his head.
"Zylus," the first whisper felt narrow but sharp, yet he still didn’t react; he thought they were part of the crowd.
Then, the voice rang again, Zylus’s eyes widened.
"Zylus," it sounded louder now; it felt as though his sense of self was coming back to him, one he didn’t expect would be gone.
He looked around him, but he was only able to see the crowds’ lips moving aggressively. Zylus was almost certain they were talking smack about him, yet he still didn’t budge. Their hands raised in the air, as if they were about to prosecute him.
He did something wrong to anger them, something he knew exactly why. Emilia was part of royal blood; thus, she was very well known around the shopping district, only meant for the rich folks around the Demon Realm.
"Zylus!"
It felt as though his ears were cleansed as he turned around completely at where his name was yelled from, and it was none other than Frey; she was standing, staring at him seriously.
"What’s wrong with you?" Frey took a moment to look around, "Why’s everyone circling and cussing you out?" She then stepped up to him, averting her gaze to his eyes, as he remained standing in that same position, "Let’s get out of here first."
She snatched him by his right arm, as he stood vulnerable, confused at the voices and breath that came across.
"Make way!" Frey screamed, but none of them listened as she forcefully tried dragging Zylus away, "Fine."
Frey sighed before doing anything and then raised her camera in the air, taking a screenshot of both her and Zylus.
"Technique," she whispered, smiling as the photo flicked, "Transferal Shield."
Just then, the individuals on the outside disappeared, or it felt as though they were gone, but in reality, this was simply a barrier technique via Frey’s Demonic weapon, her camera.
’Transferal Sheild’s’ technique allows the user to create a moving barrier around whoever gets caught inside the camera, as well as giving Frey the option to cut out any individual standing within a 10-meter radius around that green barrier that formed wide across Zylus and herself.
The individuals walking from left to right, avoiding this huge controversy, were visible, but not the ones bombarding Zylus earlier; they were all gone.
"Let’s go," Frey whispered, as the barrier and Zylus followed.
Zylus didn’t respond. Frey just dragged him, and it felt as though he couldn’t refuse, or rather, he didn’t want to.
Zylus Elwis now didn’t simply see the Spirit Realm as disgusting, but he saw himself as someone worse, or felt it as though.
In only a couple of seconds, it felt as though he had lost everything. Were these the negative effects of becoming [The Transcendent Sovereign]? Possibly, but most likely not. It was that man, who sat on that hollow throne in the emptiness pit of darkness, that removed Zylus’s second key emotion.
Guilt.
He didn’t feel bad, more Emilia, he didn’t feel bad for any of his actions, he didn’t care. But it pained him very much; it hurt him that he couldn’t muster the courage to apologise anymore, to let out a simple sorry.
It was his own endless greed for power that led to this sorrow, and it was Zylus’s own fault. His path of revenge wasn’t fruitless; it was ruthless.
As Frey dragged Zylus across, his eyes, his sense of self, all began to part from his consciousness. It was as though he were an entirely different person.
His heart’s beat felt hurtful; he tried squishing down on where it was located, but even so, it just pained him even more.
He didn’t react to it; he just felt it. He thought the entire world was coming to an end. Though this was Zylus’s duty, his sworn promise, he wouldn’t let anyone bestow harshness upon this world any longer; he needed to be the fruit to make that change.
So why, out of all times, did he feel this hurt during Zylus’s final act of justice?
Zylus looked around him, then looked at Frey, who seemed worried for his soul. He breathed in and out in successive fashion, but his legs moved on their own.
"We’re almost there, Zylus, I promise," Frey stated, rushing to this ’destination’ that she’s pulling Zylus into, "Just hang in there for a little longer."
’Was this the power cost?’ Zylus thought his own breath felt passive.
In a world where he suffers the most, where consequences fall onto him, Zylus Elwis, [The Transcendent Sovereign], couldn’t feel the emotion of guilt anymore. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He had lost it. Along with fear. He lost two feelings that shaped his life as of now. Zylus didn’t care in the beginning, but now, they were climbing up to his skin.
And he felt it, the potential loss of all those feelings. It simmered through his bones and skin, as though it were a realistic occurrence.
And that was why he had lost all his sense of self for just a few moments.
Because of that man.
The one sitting on a throne fueled by darkness and horror. Zylus still didn’t know who he was or where he came from, but one thing was clear.
There was more to him than what Zylus initially thought. It simmered through his thoughts as Frey finally paused.
"We’re here," Frey took out her camera from her pocket, "You can speak freely now, Zylus."
