Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 35: Class Picking (2)
’Rune inscriptions and Activation,’ The class was all the way at the bottom of the paper. Klaus had no clue if that meant that the class was the least popular or not, but he still picked it.
’If I want to be the strongest, I feel like understanding runes will help so much,’ The academy was also basically surrounded by runes in many places, including the building they were inside.
Next up, he picked classes that could be potentially important.
’Magical defence principles...and then Mana recovery techniques...’ For defence principles, it was definitely important. Despite him knowing many tactics from his past as a leaderboard-ranked mage, he actually had to put them to use as well.
’And for recovery, it’s one of the most important things,’ He remembered the time when that happened to him in-game.
’That motherfucker instantly killed my team as soon as I ran out of mana...’ His grasp tightened around the pen.
Matthias looked at the trembling pen in his grasp in shock, then turned away instead of saying anything.
After finishing the unpleasant memories, he circled his final class, ’Spell Theory and Structure,’ which yet again would serve him due to the many spells he could collect.
He didn’t know if there was a limit or not to the amount, but he would make sure to collect useful ones.
"I’m done," He put the paper down and placed the pen to the side.
Matthias kept glancing at his paper, so he turned it around. ’Don’t want this freak in the same classes as me.’
Klaus looked, and everyone seemed to be busy with their heads in their papers, picking their classes.
"Already done?" Korath whispered as he grabbed the paper and looked through it, like he was analysing every single class he could have picked.
"No martial classes then?" His question made no sense to Klaus.
’Is it the family thing again?’ He sighed and started fidgeting with his pockets again.
"I don’t want to learn martial arts..." Klaus’s statement alone made multiple heads turn towards him, some had looks of shock or doubt, even Korath seemed shocked still.
’Is he going to say some dumb shit and question me?’
"Okay," that was all he said whilst smiling, then he placed Klaus’s paper on his desk.
’Oh, he actually didn’t.’ Klaus seemed shocked, but inside he was glad that he didn’t have to keep explaining himself to everyone.
Klaus turned and looked at Nyra and Evaline, who were both still busy selecting their classes, Matthias handed his paper to Korath with an egotistical smile, and Cassian seemed to be chewing down on the pen, his feet repeatedly smacking the floor.
’He must be scarred to the core, huh?’ He wanted to hit his own head.
’I could have dealt with it differently...but at the time, it felt like the easiest solution,’ he sighed and turned forward instead of bothering with the others.
Time passed slowly, and everyone handed in their papers one by one, then Korath turned towards them.
"Everyone will receive a timetable in around five minutes," he took slow steps around the room, which just made everyone tense for no apparent reason.
’Can’t he just stand still? It’s nerve-wracking...and why exactly five minutes?’ Klaus wanted to facepalm, but he held the urge back to do so.
"The timetable will tell you when and where the classes take place exactly," slowly he arrived back in front of the chalkboard.
Then papers slowly started appearing on his desk, one by one, they appeared out of thin air.
’...the fuck kind of magic is this?’ Klaus and the rest of the students just stared dumbfounded at the display of magic in front of them.
Except for Matthias, who seemed calm like nothing abnormal was happening, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
As soon as they stopped appearing, Korath grabbed the stack of papers and started handing them out.
Klaus got his paper and looked through it thoroughly.
’Just my luck, huh?’ He had two straight classes back-to-back after this class would finish.
’Combat magic application first...’
"Ah, you also picked that class!" Matthias chimed in from next to him, making him drop his paper from the sudden burst of his voice.
’Fuck,’ He picked the paper up as multiple eyes were already locked onto him, including Korath’s, who chuckled innocently.
"We could go together!"
Matthias genuinely seemed like a bundle of joy despite him eliminating nearly everyone in the ranking tournament.
’I guess it wouldn’t be bad if the two strongest teamed up,’ He actually thought about it for a second, what harm could it possibly do...right?
"Sure," He agreed, which many students overheard, and murmurs instantly started spreading through the room.
Korath shook his head, and Matthias nearly jumped in joy just because he agreed.
Straight after a bell rang from nowhere, like it was everywhere at once yet nowhere at the same time, it broke the murmurs apart completely.
"Let’s go," He turned to Matthias and walked towards the door, but Korath stopped them before they could leave first.
"This goes for all of you," Despite saying that, he directed his gaze on Klaus and Matthias, "if possible, avoid causing trouble, both for yourselves and your peers. Good luck with the classes."
After that, he stepped out of the way, and the metallic door opened, like it was waiting to be allowed to open.
Matthias and Klaus instantly stormed out of the room.
Klaus looked at the timetable and analysed it.
"It’s in room 3B..." He tried to look around, but the hallway was filled with many students who were way taller than the two of them, limiting their vision.
"I’ve got an idea," With that, Matthias chuckled and grabbed onto his shoulder.
’I don’t like this—’ Just then, they quickly started teleporting through the hallway, ignoring the students walking past them.
They stopped in front of a metallic door that had 3B written on it in golden letters.
"We arrived!" Matthias chuckled as he let go and dusted his shoulders off.
Klaus did the same without the chuckling part.
’We could have just walked...’
