Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Madam, go ahead and wipe. Go back and do my laundry.
"Why are you sitting here? Go back to your lucky spot." Aurelia Shaw frowned displeased and shifted half a step aside, her backside brushing against something soft, which she paid no mind to, but the figure next to her suddenly froze.
"Why is Madam so afraid of me? I won’t eat you." Mason Nightshade’s voice was deep and enticing, a slight curve forming at the corners of his lips as he gazed at her softly.
Aurelia Shaw got goosebumps from his gaze, knowing this man’s mischievous side was acting up again. She decided to ignore him and continued nibbling on her duck neck.
Her hands were too greasy and slippery, so Aurelia frowned and reached out intending to wipe them on her clothes. Just as her hand stretched out, she paused, glanced at the white shirt beside her with the corner of her eye, and then pretending not to notice, wiped her hands on his white shirt.
A patch of greasy stain immediately appeared on the clean, white shirt.
Mason Nightshade raised an eyebrow, watching the greasy little hand wreak havoc on his shirt. He did not stop her, a cold smile playing on his thin lips. The man, who was usually disgusted by dirty hands, was oddly delighted by her prank.
He leaned over, whispered softly into her ear, "Madam, feel free to wipe, but remember to wash my clothes when we get back."
Aurelia’s back stiffened, and she angrily clenched her molars, fiercely pinched the flesh on Mason’s thigh, and withdrew her hand in resentment. Since she had wiped it, she might as well continue; when they got back, she wouldn’t wash it anyway. What could he do, eat her?
A low, pleased chuckle sounded by her ear.
A vein popped out on Aurelia’s forehead. Holding her chopsticks tightly in anger, she bit her teeth, stood up, and just as she was about to turn and leave, a warm big hand grasped her wrist. A teasingly low voice echoed beside her, "Going somewhere?"
His gaze swept over her plastered leg, then fell on her stark yet expressive face.
Aurelia coldly looked at his hand, smirked, and said, "Even going to the restroom needs your accompaniment?"
"Going to the restroom..." Mason drawled, his lips curling up playfully, eyes filled with interest as he watched her face darken. He suddenly laughed, released his grip, picked up the wine glass, took a quiet sip, and murmured loudly enough for both to hear, "Wishful thinking. Go quickly and come back soon. If you dare stand me up, see how I deal with you!"
Aurelia turned to leave. At the moment she turned away, she bit her teeth, a chilly intent flashing in her eyes.
——
After leaving the restroom, Aurelia didn’t return to the gathering but walked towards her residence. She had no intention of going back when she left. For some reason, Mason Nightshade’s personality was drastically different compared to her past life, becoming more and more unfathomable. Before she figured out what was on his mind, she decided to keep her distance for now.
"Rustle—" An eerie disturbance.
Aurelia’s ears perked up; her body tensed with vigilance, her sharp eyes scanning the dark night, and her fingers quietly gripping the cane tightly.
Suddenly!
A shadow flashed before her eyes. Aurelia didn’t see who it was, but she swung her cane down hard. With a "thump," the man fell to the ground, and without giving him a chance to react, she rained several strikes upon him.
——Little Theater Segment——
In the bathroom, Mason Nightshade called Aurelia, "Wifey, wifey, come help me wash clothes."
Aurelia: "Get lost—!"
And then, a certain man dragged a certain woman onto the bed, the woman angrily saying, "I told you to get lost! Not for us to roll together!"
The man laughed insidiously, "Wifey, if you won’t wash clothes, I’ll just have to eat you."
