Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Going Back to Get Scolded

Vera Yves resisted the urge to curse, "Mr. Hayes, I’m really not interested in you. I contacted you previously because I hoped you could help my boyfriend with his treatment."

"Isn’t Winston Valentine your ex-husband? When did he become your boyfriend again?"

She hadn’t mentioned Winston Valentine before, so it seemed Noah Hayes indeed knew him.

"My private life isn’t something I need to explain to you." Vera’s attitude turned completely cold, "We’re not close."

"Boyfriend or lover? These rich people always play around." Noah Hayes laughed indifferently, getting closer to Vera, "Miss Yves shouldn’t mind having an extra boyfriend."

"Smack!"

A loud slap landed on Noah Hayes’s face.

Vera angrily glared at him, "Move aside!"

Noah Hayes touched his cheek, the smile vanished from his face, "Just kidding, what’s got you so riled up?"

"If insulting someone is a joke to Mr. Hayes, then I take back my request for you to help my boyfriend with his treatment." Vera looked at him with an indifferent expression, "I don’t believe someone with such low morality would be particularly skilled in medicine!"

Noah Hayes was silent for a moment, "OK, my words earlier did indeed offend you, I apologize."

"I don’t accept."

Vera pushed past him and left on her own.

Today, she wore her own clothes; to match the program’s style, it was a cheongsam, custom-made by a luxury brand.

Vera put on her coat and went to drive, only to spot a familiar figure in the parking lot—Chelsea Valentine.

Vera was about to greet her when she saw Noah Hayes coming out of the building, heading for the parking lot; Chelsea Valentine walked towards him when she saw him, and Noah Hayes’s expression turned very unpleasant.

Vera hesitated for a moment before starting the car; Chelsea Valentine probably didn’t want to be greeted at that moment.

The car drove out of the parking lot; Vera glanced at the rearview mirror and saw Chelsea Valentine had already gotten into Noah Hayes’s car.

On the way home, Vera received a call from Old Mrs. Valentine.

"Vera, Grandma suddenly wants some Fengli Sou from the Restaurant of Renown. Could you buy some for Grandma, would you?"

Vera knew Old Mrs. Yves was using this as an excuse to see her, but she didn’t want to involve herself with The Valentine Family. After hanging up the call, Vera turned around to buy the Fengli Sou and then delivered them to the Valentine Group.

She called Walter Lowell, but the person who came downstairs was Winston Valentine. Vera handed him the items, "Take these home to Grandma."

Winston Valentine chuckled, "This isn’t about delivering Fengli Sou; it’s clearly about making me go home to get scolded."

Vera put on an innocent expression, waved her hand at him, "I’m leaving."

Winston Valentine held her hand and pulled her into his embrace, "You little heartless one, wait until I’m done, and we’ll go back to the old house together."

Vera noticed all the eyes around them focusing on her and pushed him away, "I don’t want to."

"What are you afraid of? Grandma won’t eat you."

Vera replied seriously, "You’re playing dumb."

Winston Valentine sighed silently, "Then, accompany me upstairs for a while, at least?"

Vera went with him to the office.

The show gained momentum online, bringing Wellspring Pharmacy back into the public’s view and sparking curiosity about The Yves Clinic.

Vera posted Yates Abbott’s report on her Weibo, hoping to let more people know the truth.

Walter Lowell brought in two cups of coffee, and Vera took off her coat and placed it on the nearby coat rack; Winston Valentine happened to look up at her, his gaze deepened, "You’ve been wearing this outfit for the entire show?"

Vera turned around deliberately, "Does it look good?"

Winston Valentine leaned back in his chair, beckoning to her, "Come here, your back button’s open, I’ll help you fasten it."

Vera reached to touch it but couldn’t find it, so she walked to his side, her back to him, suddenly realizing this cheongsam didn’t have back buttons at all. It was too late.

Winston Valentine pulled her onto his lap, inhaling her faint scent, "It looks good, but, in the future, only wear it for me, alright?"

Vera tried to get up but couldn’t, so she had to sit sideways on his lap, "Aren’t you being a bit too controlling?"

Winston Valentine rested his head in the hollow of her shoulder, "Do you know how many rivals I have now?"

Her Weibo followers had increased by hundreds of thousands, with many comments, and plenty were calling her wife.

He hadn’t even called her that yet; what were those people shouting for?

The cheongsam slit made it convenient for his mischievous behavior.

Vera pressed on the hand causing trouble on her leg, "I still have to go to the hospital with my mom later."

Upon hearing the word "hospital," Winston Valentine’s expression darkened, "Are you going to see him?"

Vera replied calmly, "No, I’m going with my mom to meet Mia Tate."

Mia Tate wasn’t in the VIP ward; she wouldn’t bump into Miles.

Winston Valentine kissed her lips, the passion of the kiss overwhelmed Vera, her slender, delicate arms wrapped around his neck to prevent herself from falling.

"Before you go, change out of that outfit."

Vera’s voice was somewhat broken, "I won’t."

"Then I’ll help you."

Help her? Vera couldn’t help but recall how he used to help her when they were still married; he was evidently still that domineering man.

An hour later, Vera sat on the bed in the lounge, wearing a new outfit.

Winston Valentine wore only a pair of slacks, talking on the phone by the window.

Seeing Vera about to leave, Winston Valentine indicated she should wait a few minutes; Vera directly opened the lounge door and walked out.

She tied her hair into a ponytail, walked to the desk, picked up the dress he had torn, and only then left.

Once Winston Valentine finished his phone call and came out of the lounge, she was already gone.

On the way back to The Yves Family, she remembered he hadn’t used protection, so she stopped by a pharmacy.

After taking the medicine, she received a call from Hannah Hayes; Hannah had already gone to the hospital without waiting for her.

Mark Yves refused to marry Mia Tate, went completely missing in action, infuriating Harry Yves enough to say he would sever their father-son relationship.

Hannah Hayes pondered over it and decided to start with Mia Tate first. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Vera hurriedly walked into the inpatient department, only to run into Miles; he was dressed in formal attire, with his assistant following behind him, clearly having just completed discharge procedures.

Both of them stopped in their tracks.

Vera looked at his still somewhat pale face, hesitating whether to greet him.

Miles’s gaze lingered on her face, noticing her hesitation, he smiled gently, "Vera, what a coincidence."
