Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 147: It’s Not Your Place to Judge
"Winston Valentine, what’s wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?" Vera Yves closed the car door, but still received no reply from the other side.
At this time, shouldn’t he be at The Valentine Family’s old residence? How could he still be at the villa?
Vera called out to him several times, confirming he couldn’t answer.
Vera glanced at the building in front once more, she had already agreed to act as strangers, what was she doing now?
Without hesitating, Vera drove away from the hospital. Fortunately, there weren’t many cars on the road, and in half an hour, Vera arrived at the villa.
The gate of the villa was not closed. Vera drove straight in, walked to the door, and entered the previous password. The door opened directly.
Upon entering the living room, she saw Winston Valentine in pajamas, collapsed on the sofa, with one long leg dangling on the floor.
Vera walked over, half-kneeling and touched his forehead; it was very hot, and his face was very pale.
Vera patted his cheek, "Winston Valentine, can you hear me?"
Suddenly, her hand was grasped.
In the next moment, Vera was pulled up by him, held tightly in his arms; his body was also very hot.
Vera braced her hand against his chest, trying to get up. Winston Valentine said with a pained expression, hoarsely murmuring, "Water."
Vera had to get up, went to pour him a cup of water back; the villa’s items were placed exactly as when she left.
Helping him up from the sofa, feeding him a few sips of water, Vera calmly said, "You’re running a fever, I’ll contact Walter Lowell to take you to the hospital."
Winston Valentine leaned on the sofa, his voice weak, "You’re a doctor, why send me to the hospital?"
"Today is New Year’s Eve, I want to go home for the holiday."
Winston Valentine chuckled, "Medical staff also need to celebrate New Year’s, it’s just a fever, don’t bother them."
"Then find someone to stay with you."
"Vera, you promised me."
Vera looked at his now humorless eyes, reluctantly pulled his hand over to help diagnose his pulse.
The phone on the table vibrated, lighting up with the name "Cecilia Vaughn."
Winston Valentine waited until Vera finished diagnosing the pulse to answer the call.
"Winston, Grandma is really angry, are you really not coming back to the old residence tonight?"
"No."
Vera pulled over his hand, located the acupuncture point, and pierced it, causing blood to seep out.
"Where are you? Can I come to you now? Let’s celebrate New Year’s together."
"No."
"Winston..."
Winston Valentine hung up the phone, tossing it aside.
Vera had finished the bloodletting, "I found the medicine I left here before. It’s not expired yet, take two pills and sleep."
"Before I stop fevering, you can’t leave."
Vera glanced at her watch, "You could ask Cecilia Vaughn to come keep you company."
"Vera, you are my attending doctor, you must be responsible for me. What if the fever worsens overnight?"
"Why aren’t you going back to the old residence for the New Year?"
Winston Valentine coughed, "Since waking up this time, I often faint unexpectedly. Grandma’s health just got better. If I pass out in front of her, it might affect her badly."
Vera felt a bit guilty hearing this.
"I want to lie down in the bedroom for a while, can you help me?"
Vera looked at his weak appearance, reminded that he ended up like this because of her, reluctantly went to support him; Winston Valentine leaned his full weight on her.
Vera struggled to support him.
Finally managing to get him to the bedroom, as Vera was about to release her hold, Winston Valentine pulled her down onto the bed. She tried to get up, but he stretched out a hand, pressing her down, "Don’t move yet."
Thinking he was unwell, Winston Valentine continued, "Let me hold you a bit longer."
Vera resisted the urge to slap him, rising from his embrace, "Winston Valentine, don’t forget you have a fiancée, if you enjoy cheating, I certainly don’t!"
"Who was holding me, touching and kissing, wanting to sleep with me that night?"
Vera was slightly embarrassed, "I drank too much."
"Drank too much?" Winston Valentine coldly laughed, "Used me, then wanted to kick me aside? Vera, what do you take me for?"
Vera regained her composure, "What do you want?"
"To make real what you said, otherwise wouldn’t I be hit by Miles Monroe for nothing?"
Vera looked at him calmly, "I was drunk that day, otherwise I’d never kiss you. Because no matter what you do for me, as long as I remember before our divorce, you got Cecilia Vaughn pregnant, I’ll find you dirty."
The air seemed to freeze instantly.
Winston Valentine remained silent.
Vera sat on the sofa nearby, outside someone started setting off fireworks; but only the sound was heard, no fireworks could be seen.
The bedroom was the same as when she left, even their wedding photo was still on the wall.
Vera stared at the wedding photo lost in thought.
Her wedding photos with Miles Monroe were ready before the wedding, mostly placed in their marital home, some in his apartment.
If he hadn’t left that day, now he should be holding her hand, the two of them strolling together on the street.
Her eyes felt a bit sore, Vera averted her gaze.
Opening her phone, it was filled with copied messages of blessings, Vera clicked them open one by one.
Later, she walked to the bedside, touched Winston Valentine’s forehead, seeing it was no longer so hot, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She could probably leave before midnight.
Vera stared at the clock on the wall, watching the time pass, minute by minute.
"Boom!" "Boom!"
Fireworks suddenly lit up outside the window. Vera was somewhat surprised, walking to the window, she saw countless fireworks blooming in the night sky, the light reflected on her face in vibrant colors.
Fireworks were also blooming in the distance, one after another.
Someone walked up behind her, whispering by her ear, "Vera, Happy New Year."
Vera lowered her head, glanced at her phone, it was already midnight.
Unexpectedly, the first New Year’s blessing she heard came from Winston Valentine.
"The villa remains the same as when you left, because it awaits the mistress to return." Winston Valentine’s voice was hoarse, "I can overlook your matter with Miles Monroe, forget those unhappy pasts, can we start anew, alright?"
The fireworks were still blooming.
"Unhappy pasts?" Vera laughed mockingly, she turned to face him, looking into his eyes, "Winston Valentine, I won’t forget, nor allow myself to forget, and what happened between him and me is none of your concern!"
Vera pushed him away, "Since you can say so much, it seems your fever has subsided, then I won’t stay."
Winston Valentine eyed her resolute figure, his gaze dimming somewhat.
After leaving the villa, Vera returned directly to The Yves Family.
Hannah Hayes and Harry Yves were already asleep, Vera went upstairs, her phone received a message from an unknown number—Vera, Happy New Year.
Vera looked at the message, feeling mixed emotions, ultimately pressing the delete button.
The chat group of childhood friends was lively, with someone constantly sending red envelopes.
By the afternoon of the first day, someone suggested playing mahjong, Vera wasn’t interested, deciding to stay inactive.
Early on the morning of the second day, she went to the villa again to prescribe medicine for Winston Valentine.
Everything was peaceful until the third day, someone in the group frantically tagged Vera, "Vera, emergency! We’re missing one for mahjong! Come quickly!"
