Chapter 877: Chapter 877 Ruby Time: After the Wedding (Ending 3)_1

In a week, it was time for The Triplets to start their official classes at the kindergarten, and for Steve Burton, the one he couldn’t let go of was his dear little daughter, Candice.

Steve’s love for Candice was almost infuriating, so much so that even when Chise and Ruby hadn’t yet started babbling, he would squat in front of the crib every day, telling his twin boys that they must put their little sister first in the future, and everything else second.

Perhaps it was because of Steve’s constant nagging that, before The Triplets could talk, Steve and Ruby Gregory had quarreled over whether the kids would call out “Dad” or “Mom” first. In the end, surprisingly, when The Triplets spoke one after another over three consecutive days, they called neither “Dad” nor “Mom” but “sister.”

After playing with Candice for a while, the nanny came to take her for a bath, and Steve also stood up, wanting to take a shower himself. But just before leaving the nursery, he noticed Chise stacking blocks.

Initially, when sending The Triplets to kindergarten, Steve had thought to only send Chise and Ruby, keeping Candice at home to be well protected, but he was met with unanimous opposition from both the Burtons and the Gregorys. Ending up isolated with no support, he had no choice but to give up.

Now, seeing Chise stacking blocks, he wanted to test Chise’s mettle to see if he could protect Candice. So, breaking his usual routine, he approached Chise, and waited until Chise had built up the blocks, then he reached out his hand and pushed them over.

After pushing them down, Steve waited for Chise to get angry. However, Chise didn’t even lift an eyelid, as if Steve were nonexistent, and just kept on stacking the blocks on his own.

Steve patiently waited until Chise finished, then he mercilessly reached out his hand and pushed them over again.

Steve had thought Chise was finally going to react, but to his surprise, Chise looked up, his young face devoid of any smile. He glanced at Steve and said, “Boring.”

Then he stood up, his little face stern like a little adult, and walked out of the nursery.

Steve blinked, a bit taken aback as he watched his son Chise’s departing figure. His eldest son had just called him boring?

Ruby, who had been playing with trains on the side, had witnessed the whole episode. After Chise left, Ruby pondered a moment, then stood up, walked over to Steve, and began stacking blocks, imitating Chise.

Steve, having been snubbed by Chise, felt his irritation fade upon seeing Ruby stacking blocks. Thinking that if his eldest son was unreliable, he could count on his second son to protect Candice. So, he waited for Ruby to finish stacking the blocks, then pushed them over to see Ruby’s reaction.

However, what Steve didn’t expect was that right after Ruby had finished stacking the blocks, before Steve could stretch out his hand to push them over, Ruby went ahead and pushed the tall pile down himself.

Steve paused for a moment, then saw Ruby furrowing his little brow, looking at Steve with sympathy as he said, “Dad, I thought knocking down blocks was fun. Turns out it’s not at all entertaining. You’re so childish!”

After speaking, Ruby stood up with a look of disdain, patted his legs, called for “Chise”, and ran out of the nursery clattering away.

Left alone, Steve blinked in disbelief. Childish? He had just been called boring by his eldest son and now his second son had called him childish?
