Chapter 273: Uncouth Friend?

Isabelle pulled Arabella behind her, shielding from the vampires who had came to take capture of her.

Being one of the most beautiful princesses that had arrived in the castle, Isabelle was quite the catch to behold, craving her name to the heads of the vampires who had gathered her and they were all eager to show her their prowess, grinning from one ear to another.

"Princess Isabelle, mind giving us the human behind you?"

Someone else walked near her, humming in a glee, "I have heard that you are quite an ambitious woman with a lot of achievements under your feet. It seems that it wasn’t only rumors but the truth. As much as I want to commend and support you, princess, it’s not quite lovely for your fragile fingers to be turned red just to take this point."

"True, you have to severe her limbs, I don’t think that’s something a woman like you would like to do."

"Indeed," hummed another one of the vampires. "So pass her to us and we should give you to the largest point for catching her, what do you say princess?"

Arabella looked at Isabelle who was smiling but the feel of her gleam was already far too different and that was obvious to Arabella. However it wasn’t so obvious to the men who had reached out to hold her. Before his fingers could come close, she swatted his hand.

The man paused, blood freshly dripped from his fingers as he found that Isabelle’s sharp oval nails had cut open a fresh wound on his palm.

"Does it seem to you that I need your help?" She asked with a smile but her to e was icy. "Or is this your hobby; stealing other’s prey and making it as your own? Maybe you just love to take a woman’s achievement and make it as your own?"

The man was stunned, almost agape at her words.

His mouth twitched but he managed to sound polite as Isabelle’s social status was above him. Though he reasoned that in the end of the day she’s still a woman and a woman won’t have such power enough to prevent him from doing what he likes.

"Dear me, seems like you really despise the idea of me helping you," the man sighed, "but this is also the queens order, princess. We can’t just bring the human the way she is and if we do, well we could be punished- you could be punished."

Isabelle remained unimpressed while she saw the man clutching tight to his hand, trying to suppresses his anger.

"Since when have this castle move according to the queens words? Is she the new crowned King of Versailles now?"

Frowning the man glared at her, "Is it because of the rumors that you have of the engagement between the crown prince and you? Do you really think that after all this he will still remain as the crown prince?"

Engagement?

Arabella saw how not even once did princess Isabelle seems deterred. She wasn’t scared, not even bothered.

"You sound very tough, mister..."

"Henry, Henry Jacord," the man was quick to introduce himself, delighted that Isabelle wanted to know his name as she was quite a beauty and with her caste as a princess, he believes that he could climb a few steps in the hierarchy as well.

Ready to impress, he slowed his smile and sweetened his tone, "Not to brag, princess but being known for my strength, I am quite tough, tougher than all the men you have seen in this forest."

"So tough," Isabelle muttered while the man flexed his arms, grinning from one ear to another.

"All men in this forest you say?" Isabelle whispered while the men nodded, ready to show their strength.

"All men, no one can be stronger than me."

"Oh really," her voice dipped and the next second everyone froze.

Isabelle had pointed the end of her barrel toward the man’s forehead. Her smile was finally one of utter fulfillment as if she wanted to do this from such a long time ago and was glad that she finally had the chance to do so.

"Tougher than most women as well?" Isabelle mused while the man stared at her confused. It was the first time they had all seen such weapon: thin, long, heavy, and a smell of a powerful gunpowder they would only smell coming from a canon.

Before their little heads could comprehend, Isabelle had pulled the trigger, linking her index finger to the curve of the body.

"Prince-"

BANG

The birds flew from the forest following the rumble. Isabelle’s hands moved backward from the force but her face was wide with a smile.

Blood covered half of her face, slowly dribbling down to her chin and left specs on her blood. Before the blood could drip from her upper lip, Isabelle licked the blood and hum in delight, as though she was licking the last cream from her dessert.

Arabella was speechless, eyes shock, her body was sent to a firm raised shoulders. She slowly turned to look down and at once her stomach turned nauseous seeing the man whose had had been blasted to emptiness.

His red eyes that were full of confidence was only left with such dull gaze, his life taken away before he had realized it.

The other vampires were too stunned to speak and when they did realized what had happened, they all stepped away, yelling with such raw fear and disappearing into the woods, as though it was time for them to be hunted.

"Ha... HAHAHAHHA!" Isabelle beamed as she reached out her hand, her left eyes closed while she pulled the trigger again. Her laughter became more maniacal as she shoot the bullets inside her gun. Isabelle continued to shoot, aiming at three people and killing two more with a deadly precision.

After a few more shot did Isabelle stopped but that wasn’t because she wanted to stop or felt guilty, nor was it due to her gun being empty from bullets, she had kept all her bullets in one hand and still had twenty more to go.

The only reason she stoped was because of Arabella who had placed a hand on top of her, her eyes were horrified as she stared at Isabelle, "stop, stop, there’s no need for more deaths!"

Isabelle stopped and slowly pulled down her gun to her hips. She shadowed her eyes with her lashes, faintly narrowing it, "I wanted to protect you, Bella. Was it so bad?"

"No, but they have ran away so there’s no need for-"

"They will come back," Isabelle stared at her green eyes, her crimson eyes now filled with something that Bella couldn’t understand. "Bella you’re too kind and I like that part of you, but those vampires- men- they never leaves the violence they’ve done behind them as if they hadn’t seen anything at all. They will come back, they will use all reasons, and then they would kill you. I can protect you and I will do it no matter what."

Arabella shook her head, "We can just run, Isabelle, I don’t want you to kill people unnecessarily, especially for me."

"I don’t believe killing is a sin, Bella," she held back Bella’s hand and gently pressed it to her own cheeks. A hint of pink blossomed on her cheeks as she whispered, "I’ll do anything if it means to protect you."

Arabella’s heart jumped inside her body. For once she felt something like a premonition, like a gut feeling that something was out of place. But she couldn’t tell what it was, and she couldn’t point that Isabelle’s words were far too over the top for someone she considered as friend.

"I," Arabella stammered a little, "I just don’t want problem to come chasing after you."

"I’m faster than any problem, so don’t worry, besides," she then turned and her eyes came to a stop staring at Donna who had gone out of the hiding and holding a rock as though ready to hit Isabelle.

The three of them stared at each other and the first to speak was Donna. She pointed her rock at Isabelle, glaring at her, "Step away- Bella is this woman your friend or is she going to kill you like she killed that vampire."

"Bella?" Isabelle asked to her then, "Do you know this girl? Why is she calling you so fondly by your nickname?"

"Bella step away!" Donna yelled while Arabella rubbed her head, not knowing what she should say.

Sighing, Arabella reached her hand both to them, "You two, drop it. Isabelle this is my friend, Donna. Donna, this is my friend princess Isabelle."

"Princess," muttered Donna as she lowered the rock from her hand. "She seems dangerous as your friend. Did you see how she laughed while killing other vampires? Beside, what is that weapon she’s holding?"

Isabelle ignored Donna and hummed, "She seems rough around the edges to be your friend Bella. But say, I’m still your closest female friend in your life right? Am I first or is that girl first?" At her last question did Isabelle’s voice chilled.

Bella blinked at her and at Donna, "You both are my dearest friend and it’s your first time seeing her, Donna but Isabelle has protected me many times, don’t judge her at first glance, she was... protecting me."

"Protecting or hunting? She seems like she was more interested in killing than just wanting to protect you from those vampires."

"Yet I still protect her," Isabelle quipped, "Instead of hiding like a mole, I ran to help her first, killing anyone who had harmed her."

Donna glared and the two battle in the most unattended staring competition until Bella raised her hands again.

"Okay, you two, don’t get so heated up. Besides this isn’t the place or time for this,"
