To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 172: I just want you to enjoy the view right now
"... It would feel like you never existed. And if it were reality where you suddenly disappeared without a trace, I would feel so lost since, without your name, it would feel like you were never here with me, and it was all my imagination to cope with my circumstances. So, I’m glad that I know your name now."
Myung-woo stared at Yun-tae, stunned for a moment but then he laughed.
"Stop your worrying," he said and ruffled Yun-tae’s hair. "I won’t suddenly disappear from your life. And... This is not a dream," he said and kissed his lips once more. "But if you still fear it is, don’t worry." He stroked his hair softly. "I won’t let you wake up and leave me. Let’s see this dream to the end, alright?"
Myung-woo knew how to say the weirdest things but... They were more reassuring than any other words.
"Alright," Yun-tae said, laughing and crying at the same time. "Let’s see it to the end."
Back to the present, Yun-tae’s friends stared at Myung-woo in awe. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"It was no wonder I felt he was familiar," Dong-cha said. "You’re a sensation right now, how did I not know it was you?"
"Magic," Myung-woo said and laughed.
"Can I get your autograph?" Seoung-bo asked but Myung-woo shook his head.
"I don’t believe you carried anything suitable for me to sign on, so why don’t we do this tomorrow? You guys will still be on the yacht, right?"
"Yes, we will." They all chorused and Myung-woo nodded.
"Alright. For now, I’d like to steal Yun away," he said, wrapping his arms around Yun-tae’s shoulder.
"Sure, go right ahead."
At that same time, Baek-Hyun got everyone’s attention by hitting his champagne glass with a spoon and then began to thank everyone for being there on a Christmas evening before proceeding to introduce his youngest, who would give a performance with the piano in the middle, to lift up the Christmas spirit.
"What a speech," Chin-hwa mumbled but it only got his heart thumping with unease.
Despite that, he made his way to the middle, bowed, and then sat down, his fingers sliding through the keys as he prepared to start.
He exhaled and then glanced back at his family, gaining silent support from them.
’Seriously, it’s just a Christmas performance. It’s not like I’m trying to win vocal awards or the best in handling the piano.’ he thought. ’I’m simply trying to make up for the past.’
He had settled on ’Mary, did you know?’. It had a nice vocal and instrumental touch and he knew the lyrics so well that he didn’t need much practice to get himself prepped up.
’Just imagine they’re a bunch of potatoes.’ he thought, taking in a deep breath and then exhaling, landing his fingers on the keys.
"Where are we going?" Yun-tae asked as Myung-woo led him outside the hall and towards the door leading to the open air.
"I just want you to enjoy the view right now," Myung-woo said but Yun-tae glanced back.
Chin-hwa was already performing, and he wished he could watch it, but even from that distance, he could hear his voice.
It was beautiful. He had only heard it once during the school festival but it was so good that it felt like fairies dancing around his ears.
"Would you like me to sing for you as well?" Myung-woo asked Yun-tae, who turned his head to his front and looked at Myung-woo, smiling broadly at him. "I could sing for you if you’d like. It’d be like your very own private concert. What’d ya say?"
Yun-tae smiled but shook his head and said,
"It’s alright. But if you want to do me a favor, you can try waking me up from sleep with your voice. That would be excellent."
"Alright then," Myung-woo smiled. "Look forward to a magical morning."
They finally got out and Yun-tae was greeted with the cold ocean sea. It was practically winter, so of course, it would be cold.
"Let’s make this quick so you don’t catch a cold," Myung-woo said and took his hand. "I need an answer from you, Yun. So, let me ask you again."
Yun-Tae thought he was simply going to ask him to be his boyfriend so he could take better care of him and be responsible for him, but to his shock, he saw Myung-woo going down on his knees.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
"What does it look like I’m doing?" Myung-woo asked. "I’ll try to catch your heart if it falls so let me go a little lower,"
He knelt on one knee and then held Yun-tae’s hand, kissing it.
"I don’t think that’s necessary, though." Yun-tae said, unaware of what he planned.
"Well, I think it’s pretty considerate given I’m not making a huge deal out of it." Myung-woo said as he chuckled. "Or did you want me to put up banners or maybe an airplane passing by with the words on it?"
"N-no, nothing like that." Yun-tae said and then bit his lip. He realized Myung-woo could go to any length so maybe just this was fine. "Anyway, carry on."
"Alright, Yun-tae, would you like to spend the rest of your life with me?" He asked, a question Yun-tae did not expect to hear.
Wait, wasn’t he asking him to be his boyfriend? So where did the rest of their lives come from?
It was such a simple question, yet he got so confused that it showed on his face, making Myung-woo laugh.
"Yun-tae, the family you long for, the warmth and care you hope to get as well as security, I... I wish to be the one to give you all of that. I wish to give you a warm home and a wonderful future. So... Will you give me the permission to do so?" He asked but Yun-tae stayed silent, trying to grab on to the current situation. "I told you, didn’t I? I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t marry you. So, shall we take the first step to a happy life together? I swear on my life that I will make you..."
"Okay, stop, stop." Yun-tae interrupted him, looking at him with teary eyes. "You’re such a try-hard, Hyung." He said and bit his lip. "You’re trying so hard to make me yours and I... I honestly have no reason to push you away or refuse. If I think of how much time we spent together and the feelings that swirled around my heart each time you made me smile..." He raised his head and pursed his lip, fighting his tears. "... I couldn’t ask for anymore. Hyung, you’re just too good for me, and you’re so good to me, too, so I wish I could have you for the rest of my life. It might be selfish of me, or I might come off as greedy, but for someone who’s never had anything growing up, I’ll thank the universe for bringing you to me because I plan to have you for the rest of my life and... Won’t waste any moment with you. So, Myung-woo Hyung, I will spend the rest of my life with you." He said, tears finally rolling down his eyes. "That is my answer,"
