Chapter 124: Please, don’t die in silence

"If it’s something you can’t handle, then call the number in the card I gave you."

Yun-tae remembered the card but was it really necessary to call the number in the card? He didn’t even know who that was. And didn’t he say to call the number if he encountered any trouble - as an Omega?

(Maybe that last part was omitted)

Ah, come to think of it, Woo-bin already knew of his relationship with Kang-woo before handing him that number card.

So, when he said, ’If things don’t work out with your lover then just call them.’ he already knew that Kang-woo was his lover and their relationship would definitely not work out.

His face flushed red.

Then, that number was meant to be called after all. But this was not an emergency where he required a lover, was it?

"As much as I want to, I don’t want to step in and get involved." Woo-bin said. "It’ll only give your father enough reason to throw debaunced accusations at you. Judging by the kind of inferiority complex he has, he will not hesitate to refer to me as your..." He glanced away, thinking of the right word to use, and looked back at Yun-tae. "...sugar daddy."

Yun-tae suddenly laughed at that term. It sounded funny coming from Woo-bin, but he was right. His father might say such things and he didn’t want to humiliate Woo-bin.

It might even leave a stain on his reputation.

"So, instead of doing that, you should be with someone who is about your age and even if you’re accused of being in a relationship with them, there wouldn’t be an issue. You need someone who has the right to interfere in the matter regarding your father, and as much as I want to knock some sense into that bastard," he punched his fist in his palm, his teeth gritting in annoyance. "... I’ll hand in the towel this time but if I see him in the future, I will certainly knock his teeth out."

’But you don’t know what my father looks like though.’ Yun-tae thought.

So, he needed to call the number on that card, huh? Who was it?

"I have a question," he said and Woo-bin dropped his hand. "Who is the owner of that number?"

"I’m sure you’ve met them before." Woo-bin said, smiling brightly. "They are someone who would do absolutely anything for you."

"B-but, I don’t even know them."

"You don’t, but they know you." Woo-bin said, confusing Yun-tae more. "But doesn’t that sound romantic? You have a knight in shining armor just watching you from the side and waiting for you to need their help,"

"That’s actually creepy." Yun-tae said with a rather disturbed expression. "They’re like a stalker."

"Ah, I feel so bad for him." Woo-bin said, darting his eyes away.

’So, it’s a he.’ Yun-Tae thought, slowly dropping his gaze.

When Woo-bin said they were like a Knight in shining armor, he couldn’t help but think back to one particular person who had helped him twice without even telling his name.

Was that him?

No- he shook his head- he couldn’t just assume he was the one simply because he saved him a couple of times.

But he was still curious though.

Yun-Tae turned his gaze to the window and discovered that Hae-won and Baek-Hyun were no longer there. He gasped.

"Oh no, we lost them." Yun-tae said and Woo-bin turned his head, answering quite calmly.

"Oh, yeah." He said, taking out his phone. "I was more interested in the things you had to say so I didn’t pay much attention to them anymore." He checked the time. "They should be heading home already."

Yun-tae sighed. At least he wasn’t mad that he missed them.

"Yun-tae," Woo-bin called his name for the first time and Yun-tae’s eyes widened. "Please, don’t die in silence." With those ambiguous words said, he got up and said, his mood turning bright again. "Alright, we should be headed back too so let’s hit the road."

Yun-tae still sat there, the words repeating in his head. Don’t die in silence, he said.

What did it mean to die in silence?

"Aren’t you coming, kid?" Woo-bin asked, and Yun-tae nodded, getting up to his feet, and he picked up his phone. "Next week’s Christmas and I can already feel it in the air."

Yes, along the streets were beautiful decorations for Christmas, which was fast approaching. Was it ten days? No, more accurately, it was nine days.

Another year where he had to sit in his dorm room and watch from his window while everyone was out celebrating Christmas with his family.

Or so he thought.

"Kid, you should definitely join us for Christmas." Woo-bin said, stretching out an invite. "I didn’t even know I had that on me but it’s alright. This year is going to be quite grand so you have to pick out something extra special."

Yun-tae took the card and looked at it.

A Christmas party, huh? He had never been to one before. And he definitely hadn’t been to a party that was hosted by rich people.

He laughed.

Just what should he expect? Well, one thing was for sure, Chin-hwa was going to be singing and... He wouldn’t be alone this year.

He felt warm and happy. He didn’t want this feeling to die out too quickly, so he decided not to check his father’s message yet.

He would check it at a later time when he was ready.

On their way out of the shop, Woo-bin got a notification on his phone. He had to stop walking to check what it was about or who it was from and then he smiled.

"Hah, such is youth." He suddenly exclaimed and turned to Yun-tae. "Can you wait here for a while? I need to go check something." He said but Yun-tae stared suspiciously at him.

Chin-hwa told him not to let Woo-bin out of his sight and stop him if he tried to interrupt Hae-won and Baek-Hyun’s date, so this might be a ploy to get him off his back while he went to do whatever he had in mind.

"Oh, stop being so suspicious," Woo-bin said, ruffling his hair. "They’re already heading home so I don’t have a reason to interrupt anymore."

"But still..." Yun-tae pouted. He was right. So, did he really receive a message that needed him to leave? Then... "I could just go back on my own if you’re busy." He suggested but Woo-bin surprisingly shook his head and said,

"No, that won’t do." He turned Yun-tae around and started pushing him back into the shop and towards their seats. "You have to sit here," he forced him to sit and then smiled brightly. "Right here, stay here, and wait till I come back. You can have anything you want," he dropped his card on the table. "So, entertain yourself till I get back."

"B-but..." Before Yun-tae could retaliate any further, Woo-bin had dashed out of there.

Yun-tae was still a bit confused. Why was he in such a hurry all of a sudden? And why wouldn’t he just let him go home? 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

He looked at the card on the table and sighed.

Guess he had no choice but to wait.

"I hope he gets back soon." He muttered and finally decided to order something.

He bought a latte and drank it slowly, hoping to bide his time while he went through their department’s group chat.

There was always something going on with one person or the other. Most talks were about the school festival that was coming, which marked the beginning of their Christmas holidays.

Everyone was excited, since they would finally go home and leave the treacherous lands called ’school’ and finally go to their parents.

Seeing this, Yun-tae paused. Ah, a family. He was so envious.

He thought back to the message he had received and contemplated if he should just read it now that he had some time and was waiting for Woo-bin to be back.

He contemplated deeply on it and then he made up his mind.

Taking in three deep breaths, his chest bulged up and returned back to normal slowly while he prepared his mind for whatever he was about to read.

There was no telling what his father, who had not contacted him for the three years since he left him, had to say to him.

He clicked on the message and then his eyes fell on the most outrageous message.

’It’s time for you to pay back for all the years I raised you.’ The message began and underneath it was an attached file. A signed medical record.

Yun-Tae hesitated to open the file and decided to just go ahead with it. He discovered it was a medical report for someone named, ’Kim Sungtae’, age 2 years old.

This wasn’t his father’s medical report but... He was bearing the same last name. He was so young too. Two years old. Then, this person was... His eyes widened.

’Your younger brother, who just clocked two years old, needs a bone marrow transplant, and you’re a potential donor. For all the years I raised you, you should be able to pay back with this, as well as pay the medical bills that will cover the surgery. So, get ready.’
