Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 32: Mana Skin and Breakdown Stats
After killing it, she touched it head and he saw a projection of the bear rise from it corpse and it flew into her chest.
She took a deep breath the grinned, " It’s done." He nodded, she turned to leave but he stopped her.
He wasn’t going to waste so much meat, after skinning it, they took all the meat they can carry and left the rest behind.
" So when are we going to take down that bastard?" She asked.
" Tonight." He answered as he was roasting bear meat, it fat dripped on the flames below making them blaze higher.
After eating he checked his status screen,

His status screen has not changed much, he sat down and thought back to the fight with the bear.
Specifically the barrier it created around itself, he didn’t feel like it was enhancing itself. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Instead of infusing mana, it coated it body with mana like a cloak of sort. He tried to do that as well.
He picked up piece of concrete and tried to coat it with mana. His instincts kicked in and he infused the mana instead.
He cancelled it then tried again, he gently controlled the mana. It tried to enter and infused itself on the concrete.
He concentrated even harder stopping it from continuing, then slowly the mana moved around the fist sized piece.
It took him over five minutes but eventually he succeeded. The mana felt unstable as if it would dissipate at any moment.
He held it firmly using his will but it was like trying to stop a moving car. Mana seemed to want to infuse itself in things rather than coat itself around them.
He didn’t face such resistance when he infused mana into objects. After holding it back for a few seconds he let it go.
The mana dissipated into thin air, he tried again and tried it with his arrows as well. The arrows coated with mana were harder but weaker.
It speed and penetrative power did not increase but he could it harder to break it, or rather the mana shield protected it.
He realised this technique can only be used defensively. Meaning even if he learnt it, it won’t increase his physical attributes.
However it would provide a later of defence which could save his life so he continued practicing until he felt he was good enough to try it on himself.
He did, he started with his hand and tried to coat his hand with mana. He felt an itch as the mana tried to infuse itself into his flesh and bones.
He strengthened his control over his mana and it coursed through his mana veins then left the confines of his body.
The mana appeared above his skin, his arm was suddenly covered by a soft blue aura
He could feel the mana pressing against his skin.
It was trying to escape his control and dispersed into the air but he held it and continued holding it for five minutes straight.
( Skill, mana skin created.
Mana skin ( common)- Create a layer of mana to protect the body. Strength of mana skin depends on the mana poured in)
That was all the information there was about the mana skin skill but it still made him grin, this was what he wanted.
Although it wouldn’t enhance his body it would provide a strong layer of defence plus it depended on how much mana he used.
While Akaris couldn’t exactly tell how much mana he had, he knew his high spirit meant he had a lot of mana.
He activated the skin immediately and felt a fraction of his mana flow through a new set of mana veins.
These veins were connected to the rest of this body. The mana created a thin layer around his hand.
He poured more mana and the mana skin grew covering his entire body. Oriana looked at him like he was a ghost.
" Damnit, I could never replicate that skill." She complained and Akaris smiled feeling proud.
However he decided to teach her so she wouldn’t have to infuse her body with mana thus damaging her mana veins.
However no matter how much she tried she couldn’t seem to get it. Akaris asked how high her will was and it was high.
He frowned, a will that high should give her enough control over her mana to create this skill.
When he explained that to her she laughed, " That’s not how that work. Will just makes your control faster.
Think of it like this, a high will is like a spot car engine, it can move the car faster but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to fully control it, at least that how it is for me."
That made him think, he really lacked understanding of how the stats work but what she said made a bit of sense.
These stats were not straight forward, they seem to represent multiple aspects. Perception for one represented all the senses.
That includes the sixth sense as well but without agility, high perception cannot save you.
Reaction speed which is necessary in battle is a combination of both agility and perception.
His own reaction speed is not too bad because neither of those stats are too low. Strength was the one he found hard to understand.
It seemed to represent strength and constitution because having strength with weak bones would be detrimental.
And then there’s endurance, which he figured represented stamina as well as durability, how much of a beating he can take.
He realised as his endurance grew, his skin grew harder and so did his internals but at a slower rate.
His bones and muscles grew stronger as well at a lower rate than they do when his strength grew.
Which meant those two stats are connected and both contribute to his constitution somehow.
Which was confusing because when he added stats points on one of them the other didn’t grow along.
With endurance it seemed they grew tougher in a sense that they would be hard to break if beaten but didn’t seem to contribute to his physical strength.
It was confusing but he was just trying to figure things out here and he couldn’t be sure as of yet.
He really wished this status screen would change and make more sense.
