Thirteenth Lady's Comback: Her Everyday Life as a Bystander-Chapter 133 - 19: Reunion (Part 3)
Ning Cui, Susu, and Ning Cuicui couldn’t care less about wiping their own tears, one grabbing Yang Liu, and the other supporting Bisi.
"Reunions of sisters are supposed to be joyous occasions, crying like this will only make our brother-in-law laugh."
"One of you is getting married tomorrow, and the other is pregnant; we should be happy, not crying!"
Yang Liu and Bisi saw that the two of them trying to console were also wiping their tears. The four looked at each other, unsure who laughed first, but soon all three couldn’t help but laugh as well.
Supporting each other, the four entered the courtyard, leaving only Bisi’s husband in the wind, disheveled, thinking, "Wife, can you not be so cruel!"
Fortunately, the little servant at the door was reliable enough to usher them inside, and Bisi did not completely forget her husband, eventually settling him down.
As for Susu and the others, once they entered the room, they took a good look at each other, and remained silent for a while.
Seeing that they were about to start wiping tears again, Susu hurriedly said, "You’re pregnant, how come you traveled to the Capital? Isn’t traveling exhausting for you, and your brother-in-law was willing to let you.!"
Susu thought, Bisi journeying to the Capital with a belly, it shouldn’t be just for the marriage of the three of them. After all, even if the Third Madam was merciful, she wouldn’t offer such a huge honor to a servant for no reason. Furthermore, Bisi wasn’t one to act recklessly.
Bisi held a cup of red date tea poured by Yang Liu, just smelling its aroma made her feel at ease.
Upon hearing Susu’s question, she said, "Seeing that the Second Young Master and the Third Young Master are about to marry, and the marriage of the Fourth Young Master isn’t far off, with the young masters and young ladies in the third household growing up, there’s the worry of someone in need of money, yet embarrassed to ask their elders. So, Third Master and Third Madam discussed setting up some businesses in the Capital. Since getting married, my cousin also managed a string of affairs outside, knowing that Third Master was selecting stewards for the Capital, he somewhat knew my wishes, and recommended himself. I thought that he was young and inexperienced and that Third Master probably wouldn’t pick him, but little did I know he was indeed chosen!"
Bisi talking about this, couldn’t help but have some thoughts. Even though she’s now a servant of the third household, in her heart, Third Master and Third Madam together can’t compare to one Old Madam.
The two heads of the third household openly entrusted the children to the Old Madam, but in reality, they still feared the children would be mistreated in the mansion. After all, the Old Madam is getting older, her vigor not what it once was, just the fact that the Heir’s wife is pregnant is enough to occupy her mind, let alone anyone else?
As for choosing her husband, Bisi knew exactly why, wasn’t it because she used to be a maid close to Old Madam, and had deep friendships with the three of them, Susu and the others.
Even though Susu and the others were also about to leave the mansion to get married, their in-laws were either landlords or martial arts schools, so the four of them would not lose contact, and there was still some kinship toward the third household.
The Third Madam and Third Master considered everything, and while Bisi was frustrated by their lack of trust in the Old Madam, as a parent herself, she couldn’t help but sigh at their intentions: pity the hearts of parents in this world.
As for Susu and the other three, they didn’t even think about the reality in Bisi’s words, just the surface meaning was enough to surprise them!
Yang Liu almost jumped up, grabbing Bisi’s hand, "So this means that you’ll be staying in the Capital from now on." Her face couldn’t hide the happiness.
Bisi’s smile also brightened a lot, regardless of what reasons had the Third Master and Third Madam set up businesses in the Capital or send them here, at least she was grateful for being able to come to the Capital!
Leaving parents and family was reluctant, but she was already used to a life with the Old Madam and the other three shadows in her life, not to mention now she has her cousin and baby by her side.
Thinking of this, Bisi touched her belly, feeling the child’s strong movements, she nodded firmly.
"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we should settle down in the Capital! My cousin and I discussed, in a few years we would redeem ourselves from being servants."
For the sake of her child, Bisi would find a way to leave the servitude; she didn’t regret marrying her cousin, but she didn’t want her child to still be a servant, unable to hold their head high in front of Yang Liu’s three sisters’ children in the future.
"Before you came, did you visit the Old Madam?" Ning Cui, always thorough in her thinking, asked.
Bisi quickly nodded, "After arriving in the Capital, I washed up briefly and entered the mansion to greet the Old Madam, it was also from her that I learned Susu had come to Yang Liu’s house, thankfully the road was smooth and didn’t delay, if I missed Yang Liu’s marriage, I’d worry about her bringing it up later!"
The four sisters had a lot to talk about during their reunion, if it weren’t for Yang Liu getting married tomorrow and Bisi being pregnant, they might have spent the night in a flurry on one bed.
Yang Liu’s wedding was quite a lively affair.
Speaking of weddings, since coming to the Capital, Susu had already experienced two, one being the Heir getting married and another being the Second Miss’s wedding, Yang Liu’s marriage was Susu’s third experience, this time as the family member of the bride.
In terms of opulence and solemnity, it couldn’t compare to the weddings of the Heir or the Second Miss, but it had a stronger sense of familial affection and the bustle of ordinary folks.
Susu was deeply touched by this, and couldn’t help but look forward to her own wedding scene.
In her past life, she was alone, but in this life, she had family, met benefactors, gained a kind master, and was soon to get married with a husband, even children in the future—this was truly a future full of promise.
Happily sending off Yang Liu, Susu set a date with Ning Cui and Bisi to gather again when Yang Liu returns to pay respects to the Old Madam, and then returned to the Shun’an Earl Mansion.
