These Demons Do it for Free-Chapter 100
**Thud! Thud! Thud!**
The sound of loud footsteps pounding the floor shattered the peaceful atmosphere of the Conquerors guildhouse.
"Ah... not them again."
"Maji! Angie! Be careful, you’ll hurt yourself if you keep running like that!"
"Leave them. The floor will get hurt before they do. If they’re Seekers, they’ll probably do something before they fall."
"Are those the guests who came earlier?"
"The ones who brought Dexker here?"
"Yeah! I heard they're from the same school as Cattlelow?"
"Ugh... demon warlocks. I’m not too fond of them."
"Be careful with what you say. They’re the ones who returned Grant to us."
Out of the 58 members of Conquerors, only about 15 remained in the guildhouse, Castra.
The other 10 were out in the Abyss, leading the expedition under the direct command of Guild Leader Sullivan Evans.
Including Grant Dexker, four members had recently died, meaning exactly half of the guild's strength—29 people—was currently in the Abyss.
This was the guild's original rule.
The top guild members, including Sullivan Evans, were the core team of 10 elite explorers.
The remaining members could only go to the Abyss if the guild's core was not already present, ensuring at least 19 people stayed behind to protect the guildhouse.
In special circumstances, like the collaborative requests from the Seeker Alliance or mandatory missions, they could send more people to the Abyss.
Grant and the three guild members who participated in the second-floor shutdown operation were part of such a mission.
Now, with just 15 members left in the guildhouse, along with the employed staff, the sounds of Maji and Angie running around echoed throughout Castra.
The staff members were generally too polite to speak freely, but the guild members didn’t hold back.
"Maji, Angie, come here for a second. How were the people from earlier? Oh, and I just brought some freshly baked cookies—come have some!"
One of the guild members tried to lure the twins with chocolate chip cookies, but today’s twins weren’t easily swayed by a baited hook.
"We’re busy!"
"We’re working."
"What’s going on? I can help!"
The mood in Castra had been gloomy ever since the death of Grant, one of the core members of the guild.
Funerals for Seekers were rarely elaborate, and even then, they were brief affairs, often concluded within a day, unlike traditional ceremonies.
Nevertheless, death always leaves deep wounds, and the lingering sense of loss wasn’t easily erased.
Though Seekers were accustomed to farewells, Conquerors was so strong that it had distanced itself from loss.
When Roman and his group arrived, they were like a much-needed relief in a drought.
It wasn’t just any visitor—they were the ones who had returned Grant to the guild, and they were warmly welcomed.
Among everyone, the ones most eager to greet them were the twins.
As soon as they heard from Leif that an invitation would be sent to Roman’s group, they had been waiting right by the front gate.
"Move! Move~!"
"Excuse me."
The twins didn’t stop for a second, charging forward like a runaway train.
Maji, leading the way with her arms swinging wildly, cleared the path, while Angie, walking beside her, offered greetings—or half-greetings—to those in her way.
True to their nature as twins, they moved in perfect harmony as they dashed through the vast Castra, reaching the artifact vault at the end of the hall.
"Open the door!"
"Please open it!"
The staff member, knowing the twins’ usual antics, immediately unlocked the vault as soon as they arrived.
There were two artifact vaults.
The highest-grade artifacts, ranging from S to A-rank, were kept in a special vault.
B and C-rank artifacts, while valuable to Seekers, were considered common supplies for a guild like Conquerors.
"Where is it~ Ah! This is the one I wanted!"
At first, Maji seemed focused on finding the Binding Parchment, but she soon got distracted by another artifact.
Angie, as usual, sighed without a complaint and simply went about her task.
While Maji indulged in some window shopping, Angie started searching for the Parchment on her own.
"Wow! When did this come in? I thought it was a permanent loan since it hadn’t been restocked in so long. Hey, Angie, should we take this one secretly?"
Maji, holding a small orb-shaped artifact, shook it in her hands.
Her question was met with the familiar, though now slightly different, voice of her twin.
"Take it secretly? What are you talking about?"
"Ah! When...?"
"You’ve already come back?"
Maji, startled, turned around in shock, but Angie was calm as ever.
In her hand was a scroll—something that wasn’t there before.
"Earlier."
"Hehe, you’ve been busy, huh? The training must have been tough."
"Did you come here as soon as you finished?"
"Yep. Your voices were so loud, I couldn’t miss it. But, Maji, why do I still see something in your hands?"
"I—I’m not the only one holding it!"
"It’s the item the deputy guild leader asked us to get."
"Is that so?"
"Ugh..."

Maji trembled slightly, reluctantly putting the artifact back in its place and muttering as she did.
"Goodbye. My pretty little orb..."
"It’s not yours, you know."
Maji, pushed out of the vault by Angie’s reprimand, quickly returned to normal, leaving her feelings of resentment and longing behind.
"So, we’re going back up. Are you coming with us?"
"Would you like to join us?"
"Mm... Yeah. We should meet with them anyway."

**At Conquerors, proposing to send a representative to our guild?**
"Does that mean you’re not just talking about dual affiliation?" Leif asked, a smile evident even under his thick beard.
Rather than just being a secondary guild, they were suggesting joining our team—meaning Maji, Angie, and I would be directly involved.
"So, the person who’ll know our secret isn’t Leif, but the appointed representative? Should I understand it that way?"
"Yes," Leif said confidently.
*I don’t quite understand it yet.*
Sending a representative makes sense.
But sending someone who doesn’t know our secret to make such an important decision? That doesn’t sit right with me.
"Don’t worry. I won’t go back on my word."
"...Can you tell me who that person is?"
"Well, they should be here soon."
Although I had seen a few faces along the way, the only Conquerors members I had met were the twins. Leif hadn’t called anyone else yet.
But I felt certain it wouldn’t be the twins.
*Did they use a summoning artifact?*
As I pondered this, Leif added,
"I’ll tell you one thing. They’re the second person I trust the most in the world."
"The first is Conquerors’ guild leader?"
"Correct."
Then who was the second?
**Thud! Thud! Thud!**
As soon as Leif spoke, the door shook with a sudden commotion.
"They’re here!"
"Yes."
"Then let’s—"
"Enough. Show some manners."
A new voice interrupted the twins, and behind it, I heard the polite knock, sharp and measured.
"May I come in?"
The tone was formal, and something about it struck a familiar chord in me.
Was this the person Leif had been referring to?
"Sure."
Leif’s permission was granted, and the door opened.
Maji, with her trademark ponytail, entered first, followed closely by Angie with her twin-tail.
And then, the final person entered.
When I saw them, I recognized the truth of my suspicions.
A striking red-brown hair, not quite as bright as Alejandra’s scarlet hair, but more of a deep crimson or burgundy.
But more than the hair, it was the eyes.
The shape was different, but the deep, dark eyes were unmistakable—they were a perfect match for Leif’s.
*Family?*
I realized then, the second person Leif trusted must be someone close to him. It was surprising that the guild leader, Sullivan Evans, was placed first in his trust hierarchy, but the fact that Leif was a deputy made perfect sense.
"Let me introduce you. This is my daughter, Lana Gromadine."
Leif’s introduction was followed by the girl, Lana, introducing herself.
"I’m Svyatlana Gromadine."
"I’m Roman Sun."
"Alright, then. Please, feel free to talk. I’ll take my leave for now."
"No, stay. This concerns you too. Angie."
"Yes."
Angie opened a piece of paper on the table.
It was the Binding Parchment.
The first time I saw it up close, its magical aura unmistakably came from the Abyss. It was definitely the real deal.
"These people, as you’ve heard, are the ones who returned Grant to us. But beyond that, they’ve requested that we accept their guild as a sub-guild of Conquerors."
Leif paused as if waiting for Lana to process the background.
After a moment of silence, Leif continued,
"But they’ve made the same request
to Frontier and Enigma. They want to be a joint sub-guild of the three top guilds."
At this, Lana’s eyes trembled slightly.
She was a member of Conquerors herself, and as the daughter of the deputy guild leader, pride in her guild’s position was deeply ingrained.
This request was likely uncomfortable for her to hear.
"But Frontier has accepted. They deemed them worthy."
"Frontier?" Lana questioned.
Enigma was another matter.
They weren’t the type to question such things; they accepted things quickly.
"Yes. But their Parlatier knows their secret and accepted it. We, on the other hand, know nothing. I want you to check and assess their worth."
In the background, I could hear one of the twins mumbling their frustration, but no one was paying attention.
"You should confirm it, shouldn’t you?"
"Ah, that’s true. If it’s worth it, I’ll send you to their guild."
This sudden assignment caught me off guard.
But surprisingly, Lana accepted it without hesitation.
"Shall we confirm it now?"
"Yes. Are you okay with that?"
"Of course."
How should I explain this?
The easiest way was to experience it, so I decided to give her a quick test...
"I’ll prepare for the duel then. The training room I used is empty, so we’ll use that."
I was starting to feel like things were finally falling into place.
